On Saturday I expected a nice sunny autumn day with fittingly ambitious plans - to Rinka via climbing route, then over Turska gora to Kamniško sedlo. I took winter gear but expected no more than a few cm of southern snow. I was wrong, soon above Okrešelj to Savinjsko sedlo all white, in Mrzli dol already 20-30 cm snow with breakable crust, peaks in clouds rapidly changing in the wind. I decided it was not the right day for that tour, I'd go to Savinjsko sedlo and Koroška Baba. But when I arrived at Savinjsko sedlo it was real Siberia - cold wind, fog, hard snow patches. The path to Ledinski vrh was nothing like summer, halfway I put on crampons and ditched the Baba idea. On descending the sedlo I met a trio, else no one. Approaching Okrešelj I remembered maybe I could find the path to Zaspani hribar (Sleeping Mountaineer) I'd admired from the trail many times. I found this thread on hribi.net on my phone, read it and went to check. I took the path to Kamniško sedlo to the spot under Turska gora wall turning sharply to Planjava. I turned right to the boulder, higher I hit cut dwarf pines, along which I descended slightly to the foot of ZH to the saddle by the big larch. It looks inaccessible from there but experience says things are easier closer than afar, and so it was though the little ridge is no joke - first vertically from bushes to rocky ledge on ascent, then the crumbly top part pumped my pulse hard. At the cross, helicopter view of Okrešelj, eyeing Turni opposite which I visited early summer. That tour (Zabrložnica, Turni, Matkovo okno, Okrešelj, Pasje sedlo) could add ZH sometime. Slowly and very carefully back by the ascent path, coffee at Okrešelj, satisfied back to the valley.
