Hello,
for a friend who doesn't speak Slovenian, I'd like to give some Slovenian mountaineering book as a gift, but I don't know how much of this literature is actually translated into English... It would be great if there was The Path, but unfortunately (not yet), does anyone have a suggestion?

thanks!

Congratulations Tomco,
exactly one year ago I had similarly big eyes as you: first time in Martuljške mountains from this side, first time Pod Srcem, interesting path across Kotle to point Na pečeh, ascent along long snowfield and claustrophobically small summit with wonderful view, we continued to Tri macesne and Za Ak. Beautiful wilderness and unforgettable tour !
First time has special charm, when you go to Treh macesnov it will again be a day that stands out !

When you've already walked many marked paths that don't give you trouble and you roughly know an area (so you can roughly orient yourself among peaks and valleys, where things are) then you can also try such a path, maybe start rather with Dovški križ or Kukova špica, which are in my opinion a degree easier than Oltar, whose summit part is very crumbly and exposed.
On pathless peaks there are no pitons, no cables and no markings, so you're left to your own devices and your own judgment where the best path is. That's why in my opinion mileage and the feeling you develop over time are essential. And really nice weather without fog. And courage to go and humility to turn back if it doesn't work.

Mangart, were you up there just on Sunday, 26.4.? My friend and I were there too, we only met an Austrian ski tourer descending at the cables around noon, when we were just starting to ascend, you two were apparently earlier. We didn't know exactly where the winter route goes, so we followed the ski tracks along the Italian path and then "enjoyed" the rotten snow on Mangart's summit head. But it was super anyway!
Conditions over Plazje were good, likewise from the cables across the traverse above the wall, only the mentioned summit section and the return descent from the cables to the saddle were very crusty.

Unlike the summer crowds, there was real divine peace on the mountain.
Could you please give a tip on exactly where the winter route goes?
Best, Rok

Boroot, the marked path was closed for good reason, rocks fly around willingly. Just below the pegs there was a big snowfield with a gaping crevasse a week ago and it will surely be there for some time, we needed winter gear for descent. Judge for yourself, but Bovški Gamsovec is also a nice independent goal, recommend up via Sovatna and down to Luknja.

This Sunday my colleague and I headed to Lanževica and caught a really nice autumn day with wonderful views of the misty and the Adriatic Sea and Dolomites in the distance - at least I think it's the Dolomites.
Could someone who knows better please write which peaks are visible in the distance?

On Saturday I expected a nice sunny autumn day with fittingly ambitious plans - to Rinka via climbing route, then over Turska gora to Kamniško sedlo. I took winter gear but expected no more than a few cm of southern snow. I was wrong, soon above Okrešelj to Savinjsko sedlo all white, in Mrzli dol already 20-30 cm snow with breakable crust, peaks in clouds rapidly changing in the wind. I decided it was not the right day for that tour, I'd go to Savinjsko sedlo and Koroška Baba. But when I arrived at Savinjsko sedlo it was real Siberia - cold wind, fog, hard snow patches. The path to Ledinski vrh was nothing like summer, halfway I put on crampons and ditched the Baba idea. On descending the sedlo I met a trio, else no one. Approaching Okrešelj I remembered maybe I could find the path to Zaspani hribar (Sleeping Mountaineer) I'd admired from the trail many times. I found this thread on hribi.net on my phone, read it and went to check. I took the path to Kamniško sedlo to the spot under Turska gora wall turning sharply to Planjava. I turned right to the boulder, higher I hit cut dwarf pines, along which I descended slightly to the foot of ZH to the saddle by the big larch. It looks inaccessible from there but experience says things are easier closer than afar, and so it was though the little ridge is no joke - first vertically from bushes to rocky ledge on ascent, then the crumbly top part pumped my pulse hard. At the cross, helicopter view of Okrešelj, eyeing Turni opposite which I visited early summer. That tour (Zabrložnica, Turni, Matkovo okno, Okrešelj, Pasje sedlo) could add ZH sometime. Slowly and very carefully back by the ascent path, coffee at Okrešelj, satisfied back to the valley.

Joining the congratulations, super hike on a beautiful autumn day, for me definitely the hardest part was the descent to Latvice, although climbing to luska is no small thing either.

Yes, it's Dovška Baba. Djimuzl continue.

From which mountain is such a nice view?

Descent from Skuta towards Mali podi?

Congratulations on the tour, even a single stage is no small thing, three in a row from dawn to dusk deserve a big bravo!

Last Saturday it was completely normal. They haven't started work yet.

I'd sign up for the trip too, if there's still space on the bus nasmeh I'll bring something sweet

Congratulations, Journeyman and Rozka, you're better pathfinders than me! And bravo to Pastirica for the courage needed when scrambling in that solitude! I preferred to turn towards Utam.

For the makeup exam that still awaits me too, I'd rather choose autumn when temperatures are more pleasant. Some instructions beforehand won't hurt nasmeh
