Edina, great pictures and description on the blog Stone Hunter is one of the few I haven't done yet, but I really like this route. Is it well marked? And time-wise? I'd say this is probably the nicest route and it really excited me. What about in comparison to the route from Zajzera? Neither is probably technically demanding? The summit part looks only a bit awkwardly scree-covered and steep. Thanks

Today we two finally trod the path completely and sank occasionally up to our butts. Thanks to all predecessors for the hard work Inversion does its thing and on descent already less snow than on ascent. By end of week it'll take it all. Best regards!

Lijaneja thanks for the advice. I've been hiking a lot on snow lately, last on Saturday on Jalovec (through ozebnik which is still super shaped) but I wanted a dry tour and (consequently) lighter backpack . So I was curious if this specific path is dry . Thanks

Hi, yesterday I was at Koča na gozdu. To the top of Vršič the road is normally drivable, but allegedly not plowed on the Trenta side.

Hi, cjendaw! We met . We also first tried your route, but the direct path had too little snow already and even that on top of that section was crusty flying down so we descended right before the summit back to the markers. So we nicely trod the traverse to the notch too, which is really a bit nasty and needs caution. Some tracks after you remained, some covered so we also needed almost 4.5 hours. Views on top fantastic .

I think there's no need to stress the necessity of winter gear, it's a winter ascent anyway. Let me add that yesterday another about 7 hikers went toward the summit but their tracks will probably be drifted over due to strong wind. In short, from Lepena great ascent, with full gear, proper fitness and caution. Good luck!
