Slovenes are really some models. Instead of showing due respect to cyclists (yes, respect. Not many mountaineers are able in winter to drag bike to Viševnik, then ride down safely), we yap on forums what is allowed and what not. Remarks on nature preservation are the funniest. Cars as high as they go, helicopters supplying huts with alcohol, caravans of foot hikers... Where is nature preservation here? When they wanted to protect part of Križna Cave (of course the question is for whom, if nobody can see it), they CLOSED IT TO ALL. In our case, analogously, TNP would have to close it to hikers too. By what key do foot hikers have priority to everything?
Natural environment is common good, all users have right to life in it, which must be properly regulated and not abused. Cyclists must respect their touring bike code, touring skiers, motorbikers, paragliders, kiteflyers, climbers, canyoneers, rafters, etc. Those who can't do that don't belong in the hills or natural environment.
When we start coexisting with respect for each other, all conflicts will vanish.
But what, when it's almost impossible....

PS: what about when a kid jumps in front of an almost silent touring skier? No hard feelings, I can't without a bit of provocation... I'm a hiker, mountain biker and also touring skier

I'm signing up myself for some group split tour in Savinja/Carinthian areas. Two smaller tours at Kopa for season start were quite nice (but of course creaky.
Regarding purchase - nowadays you can find huge discounts for new gear of last year's models. E.g. Blue tomato, Obsešen,...
ZoranV, are Elans available here or anywhere? Because split has been in offer for at least one or two years, but here it wasn't possible to get.

Dipidolorus, sorry for the late reply, I was away. Yesterday I was on Uršlja, it's nice to ride the top 300-400 vertical meters, bottom is hard and crusted. Peca has enough snow, but what local conditions are, I don't know.
Regarding splits: currently sale at Blue Tomato, Burtons around 500 Eur. Why no Elan here, really don't know, pity because the board is surely good. If someone buys bindings, probably worth waiting a year for serious purchase, because really innovative solutions are announced, and more and more worldwide. Because ideal binding in my opinion is one you don't have to take off the boot at transition, plus has built-in step-in and lock-down so you can ski short sections in touring mode too. For now the new Karakoram binding is announced like that, but only next year, price will surely be SALTY. But worth it. Already switch from Voile kit to Sparks was night and day.
Well anyway, splitting ain't cheap, but it's cool

Any new splitboarder? Split is in my opinion the absolute best version of touring snowboarding, but unfortunately quite expensive. I've tried everything (on foot, snowshoes, split), and only split can compete with skiers, not to mention ease of movement in deep snow, since the surface you're standing on is large and barely sinks in. Snowshoes mostly freeze up completely here. If someone wants to join a tour in the Carinthian hills, or needs info on splits, let them know.

Oh yeah, splits are available at Obšesna here, but selection isn't that big.
