Hello, opening a thread, hope it's not already open... Anyway, long story short: tomorrow I'd go to the chimney. Why tomorrow? Because the weather is quite ok. The issue is they don't let me go up alone. I need at least one more person, or more, to join the ascent. Gear: SVK, gloves, shoes, helmet, before ascent sign declaration of own responsibility bla bla. Price is 40 eur, or 30 if 5 or more. Anyone interested?

Excellently written, kudos to Mitja. I've already hiked a lot, climbed several ferratas with "E" sections, descended ice from Marmolada, yet I don't feel prepared for winter Triglav ascent. First winter tours on Begunjščica, Vrtača, Mala Mojstrovka, etc. And ice axes and ice crampons, which I see are very popular, I absolutely won't need and I'm not bothering with them.

On the deaths ranking, Croatia (already last week), Lithuania and Armenia (today) have overtaken Slovenia.

Making a difference between smart and sports watches... that difference has long been blurred.

I would like to emphasize another, much more essential difference. There are very smart watches and a bit less smart watches.

This needs explanation. Very smart watches include Apple Watch, Samsung Galaxy Watch, Huawei Watch... A bit less smart include Garmin, Suunto, Polar and also things like Huawei GT Watch...

A bit less smart watches have a very very weak processor and limited user interface (simpler OS). These two consequently mean that these watches last much longer.

How does this show in practice? Simple. With an extremely powerful machine like Apple Watch and Samsung Galaxy Watch someone can train with GPS use max about 6 hours. That's of course absolutely too little for measuring say one-day hike in Slovenian mountains or full-day cycling. We can say such a watch is useless for hiking.

On the other side we have a bit less smart watches, with weak processor, minimal RAM, but consume energy much better. So for example with my two watches (Huawei GT2 and Instinct Solar) I easily measure GPS activity for 30 hours duration. Solar extends it further because it charges additionally in the sun.

Regarding accuracy: all (I mean really all) watches from 2019 onwards use the completely same Sony satellite receiver. It proved especially with power saving, but also accurate enough. This chip is used by all: Garmin, Polar and Suunto.

5 million official victims. Still waiting for Indians to count themselves, because the figure of 458 thousand dead Indians is far from real. Some estimates say that in reality between 4 and 5 million Indians died from covid.

Tomorrow evening our time we'll reach 5 million official victims (that 1% wrong diagnoses changes nothing). 5 million victims and that despite masks, despite vaccines, despite lockdown.

In 2020 almost 17 percent more inhabitants died than the year before.

The emergence of the covid-19 pandemic which marked 2020 significantly affected mortality in 2020, state the Statistical Office of RS (Surs). In 2020 24,016 inhabitants died in Slovenia - 11,733 men and 12,283 women, they announced. The number of deaths was higher by 3,428 or 16.7 percent compared to 2019. As they added, high mortality especially in November and December 2020 caused natural increase to be the lowest since 1945.

Armenia: 57 dead;
Russia: 1106 dead;
Ukraine: 734 dead;

Romania is close to its daily record, Serbia too is approaching its highest numbers. Interesting to watch the progress of the fight against covid in Serbia.

Let me also mention that in the 2018/2019 flu season, where they recorded 160 deaths, no masks were worn, no work from home, no school closures, no measures at all. Absolutely no measures.

Now we have 5 thousand deaths (over two years, to avoid confusion, that's 2500 per year), and that's with measures, masks, work from home, etc.

Flu season (no one hid any data, data publicly available on NIJZ and in media).

In flu season 2018/2019 total 160 people died. That's data for FLU SEASON, i.e. 3-4 months.

Due to flu 160 patients died in Slovenia.

@Gely, typical narrow-minded thinking from your side. Pfizer? Pfizer is a company that doesn't just make vaccines, but also medicines. Profit on medicines is much higher than on vaccines. If Pfizer looked at profit, they wouldn't have released the vaccine at all.

By the way, Pfizer did sell exceptional quantities of covid vaccine last year, but dear Gely you forget that Pfizer sold fewer of its other products. Precisely because of the global covid crisis, pharmaceutical companies sold fewer other medicines, and practically no other vaccines. But you forgot to write that, right?
