Has anyone gone to Turska gora from Logarska valley recently? What are the conditions, is there still snow?
Which route do you recommend? Up through Kotlice and down through the gully? Is there any less demanding descent path?

@JanezSeliškar: Usually I don't get into pointless discussions with internet strangers, but I really didn't expect such a dumb reply.

No one said I doubt anything, I've been to Mangart many times, usually via Italiana from Fusine Lakes. But I don't know what's wrong with checking conditions first, because I really wouldn't push somewhere if conditions aren't right, especially with the news of a difficult hiker rescue recently.

If you have something smart to say I'll be very glad (I think that's the main purpose of this forum - exchange of useful info), if not, no need to reply for my sake, as you don't contribute anything positive to the debate. If you still feel a strong need to write nonsense, we can agree you do, but start with "warning, idiot at keyboard" so I don't waste time reading to the end.

@JanezSeliškar: no problem, thanks for the advice. Could you please write why you so strongly advise against it? What's the problem? Is there avalanche risk? I really don't know and I'll gladly listen to sensible advice.. just please let someone write what will be so inappropriate for this trip on Saturday.

I've already seen in the paper the news about rescuing the German hiker, that's why I asked if anyone was there and knows the conditions. From that news no real picture, rescues happen mid-summer too when conditions are fine. Could have health issues, poor mental or physical shape, wrong shoes, went late, storm caught her,... So again, does anyone know the path conditions?

Don't misunderstand me, I don't want to seem like a hotshot, I just want more info to decide on the trip's suitability regarding my condition and my companions'. If conditions not suitable for our skill level we definitely won't push up.

I'm interested in the current conditions on Mangart? On Saturday we plan to go up the Slovenian and down the Italian. Has anyone been in the last days? Has it really snowed and how much? Is winter gear needed or OK without?
If the Slovenian needs winter gear, probably both ways Italian. OK like that?

Thanks for the answer. What about the path over the glacier? I read it's climbing...
I have lots of experience with ferratas (via italiana on Mangart and similar..), but zero with climbing. So this path isn't for me?

Hi. Today we went up the ridge and descended the Slovenska. Sadly didn't check conditions well before so no winter gear. Snowfield above window not an issue, go through "tunnel" snow-rock, else ridge OK. But descent on Slovenska snow in the way, struggled to safely pass dangerous parts. Do not recommend without winter gear. Good luck
