I hiked there on Saturday too and totally agree with you. We talked with a local who is here almost every weekend but didn't know it's closed. Then he called some acquaintance regarding the notice.

Markings remain because it was marked further from the tower, if you came from the weekend house above Zavrh, to some scenic spot with bench, which is no more. First signboard is already at Potokorjeva senožet (meadow where the cart track ends). At the junction where direction signs for Kolovrat left and Polšina right, you arrive exactly at Prevala, as locals say.

The bus has been running like that for the fourth year. When we went to Krn via the pastures on a Friday two years ago, the Tolmin municipality couldn't tell us if we could go up before that time and return during the closure. They only said it's closed just with a sign. The bus driver only asked us on the way back if we could go ahead of him.

Steep part really only ca 900 m, but from where you can leave car more than 1000 m elevation gain. Javorca - Tolminka spring Prehodci, then either Bogatin or Krnsko jezero or... Path itself extremely picturesque.

We did a two-day trip to Krn this summer, which seems to me among the more interesting and not too crowded. But quite some climbs.

First day: Javorca - Planina Črča - Planina Laška seč - Planina Medrja - Planina Sleme - Pod Rdečim robom - Jezero v Lužnici - Batognica (2165 m) - Krnska škrbina - Krn - Planina na polju - Krnko jezero - planina Duplje - Dom pri Krnskih jezerih

Second day: Dom pri Krnskih jezerih - towards Bogatinsko sedlo into the valley behind Lepoče (remains from Rapallo border) - Prehodci - nicely graded mulattiera into the valley - Planina pod Osojnico - Izvir Tolminke - planina Polog and spit-roasted sausage

The whole route is officially marked, but on some sections no markers for 10 min.

My opinion is that they should build a new hut here that fits the environment. Because the hut is also on part of SPP, where now from Grohat to Kamniško sedlo you have nowhere to overnight on the trail. That's quite a few hours of walking.

Trbovci have the highest peak anyway, Kum.

I have a booklet without this point, but last autumn up there all stamps were accessible including the SPP stamp.
All together, including the logbook, is located on the outside of the hut at the entrance in the box.

Cross (1994) and chapel (2000) carved into hard rock, since the generator ran for a whole two days.
