I had a similar experience at Okrešelj in winter. I left my poles outside overnight (where everyone supposedly does), but in the morning there were the same model instead of mine, just much more worn out and battered...since then I never leave anything further than arm's reach.

Found on AO Kranj:
how do you know you're an alpinist and not a sport climber

* your systems are at least 30cm long
* your son climbs harder routes than you
* you have scars on the outside of your arms
* your climbing gear includes gloves
* you quit sport climbing because you couldn't manage any routes (applies to old cats)
* on your climbing trips you see lots of sunrises
* you can wear your climbing shoes all day
* you don't know what your body fat % is
* you ask your partner how much water you two need
* you climb a first ascent and publish both climbers' names
* you've lost all your protection gear but still know how to protect
* you read old issues of Grif
* you know what zmula is
* you wake up at two in the morning to go climbing
* you doze off a bit while climbing
* it takes you three hours to clean the protection
* you fall 50m
* you rappel 6 pitches in the dark
* you rappel 6 pitches in the snow
* you have a hammer
* you have sex at the belay
* you climb the second day and don't know what you did the first day
* when you drop a water bottle it takes half a minute to hit the ground
* your gear is worth more than your car
* your best memories are from the worst routes
* you've had an excellent climbing day, then you realize you didn't climb the route you wanted
* you survived a night hanging on a sling
* you miss work on Monday because you went climbing on Sunday
* there's room in your pocket for a whole block of chalk
* you drive all night to be able to climb all day
* you drive all night because you climbed all day
* you're so high that trees look like broccoli
* your slings have knots
* you think "beta" is a video format
* you can shit and belay at the same time
* you wear socks in your climbing shoes
* long approach is no obstacle for good climbing
* you twist the rope

From Turska view towards Rinkam, below Turski žleb?

otherwise watch for steel head, because with aluminum on ice you can't help much, also watch length, if taller worth longer one for support too...

The quality of added routes, GPS tracks,... is excellent. But I completely agree with my predecessors that the posts on the forum are catastrophic. On the forum you should get a good overview of conditions (that's why the title is Current Conditions and not Chatter about...). Maybe it would really be appropriate to remove general conversations from the front page, as Tomažke says. Those who want them will find them with two clicks.

...are you one of those who last year on TV news said he has all personal gear because he has gaiters?velik nasmehsecond video
with what you wrote you obviously want to be a hero of the black chronicle. To be honest, I don't care about you, as it would at least teach you (maybezmeden), but I do care about all those who would come to rescue youjezen
One can't believe such ignoramuses exist. Maybe it's best you go on some expedition to Himalaya, since you have super good Gore-Tex gaiters that would surely come in handy there, as there's allegedly lots of snow this year! There's just the call for Makalu 2011 on PZS. Click! Surely you've been 10x in mountains in winter and 10x in Alps, and in Croatia you've also reached some summit, so you meet all conditions! Think about it, such opportunity rarely comes!
Otherwise I'm wondering if that condition you're in hurts you?zmeden

Jps, altitude via air pressure. But it's a good indicator: if altitude rises only on watch, it means pressure dropped and bad weather is coming. So you can say it's annoying, on the other side it's a mini weather station that's REALLY handy in hills to know when to turn back. It takes ca 30s to set. I calibrate mine before trip first at home, then at the next known altitude (sometimes on signs in mountains, at huts...)

@klm: did he ask about price? Are you buying? Well, if he has money let him treat himself. Just typical Slovenian envy...

As viharnik already mentioned, the choice mainly depends on what you're looking for. These two jackets are practically the same. And I completely agree that for us softshell jackets are more suitable for normal conditions. Goretex is cool stuff, works for quite a while, then the water repellency function slowly fails (then you wash the jacket in one of the impregnators and dry it in the dryer (read maintenance instructions), which "bakes" the impregnation and evenly distributes the fibers). Under/above (belays, resting) such jacket you need something that holds heat (two differently thick fleeces or down/primaloft insulation and base layer). Nice that they can be vented, otherwise you can stew. With the hood check it's big enough to go over helmet,...otherwise both jackets have good cut and are super made. Maybe slight preference to Millet because reinforced shoulders, where on my jacket it first started leaking there (because backpack rubs there).
Well good purchase! For prices check a bit at neighbors, e-bay,...because these are nicely marked up. Maybe somewhere sale of last year's models.
Anyway wear it a lot and nice! velik nasmeh

Next time just think before you call and play hypochondriac whose stomach hurts or who was hit by crazy strong migraine in the middle of climbing...rolling eyes
Otherwise you can get really drunk, twist your ankle and go down for free...confused

I'd go anywhere else but Freeapproved, but that's just me and my opinion. AO Kranj is MUCH better choice for me! But it's still pretty cool to go, because you learn quite a lot, meet lots of folks with similar interests,... otherwise it's OK too, because you can see what suits you what not (ski touring, friction climbing, climbing, ice climbing...) and borrow plenty of gear from older members.

Try Garmont DragontailKlik!Klik! or La Sportiva Trango Lite Low. Klik!Klik!
