We decided to go with kids (6-10 years) this year hiking for two days, not too demanding - no more than 600 m elevation gain per day (knees...). For a while I've wanted to go to Baška grapa or around Cerkno. Ideally there would be a chance midway to jump in water and e.g. train ride (not necessary though). For overnight it can be simple, even hayloft or similar. I'll be very happy for ideas or suggestions. Even if someone has a good suggestion in similar remote places elsewhere in Slovenia, it'll be welcome. At the sea (and even already along Soča) it's currently a bit too crowded.

As long as I was carrying the kid, there were more choices for trips; now sometimes I just run out of good ideas when looking for short enough but still nice (scenic) family outings - especially now when there's deep snow everywhere. (Not even mentioning the fog in the valley...) One kid is nearly three years old and walks nicely if in the mood, the other just over a year (in the backpack). Please recommend some ideas for a trip or walk - around Ljubljana or wider.

Maybe someone knows if the hut on Dolga Njiva pasture is still open? Say on Sunday?

Now I can answer myself about the road to Mrzli studenec below Kofce - there's still a little snow and ice on the road, but high temps and cars have softened it so much you can drive without issues. Don't know about morning when it's still cold though.

Has anyone driven from Jelendol towards Kofce in these days - is it too icy for the car? And then on foot to the pasture? According to the weather forecast, we need to take advantage of it for some family trip...

Does anyone know if the hut will be open on the holiday, Monday February 8th?

Thanks for tips. As far as I've seen/heard so far, even touring snowshoes aren't the most comfortable for walking. Am I wrong?
