21.3 2025: 3 times to Tolsti vrh
The road to Ravne this time was not plowed, so I turned around a little above the bench and managed to drive towards Podvežak to the logging road for Jezerce. Surprisingly, there was still enough snow that I could put on skis right at the car.
Above the clearing, Athena and I were greeted by the guardian of the passage to Vodole. We enjoyed his courtship display for quite some time.
During the continuation, my body let me know that Tolsti vrh would be enough for the goal that day. Nevertheless, we managed to get to its summit quite nicely.
We had wonderful weather and thus also views.
The conditions for skiing along the approach route weren't to my liking, so I tried the tempting north side of Tolsti vrh. The skiing was so excellent that I climbed back up twice more. Athena also enjoyed this steep flank. I couldn't stop wondering how skillfully she handled these steep slopes. There were quite a few visitors, appropriate for the weather.
For the third descent, I continued under the walls of Tolsti vrh and entered an interesting overhang with a small cave. Meanwhile, the sun did its thing. The snow became so sticky that there was quite a bit of work with poles on the road.
With a feeling of deep gratitude, I left our beautiful mountain world.
Regards and safe steps to all from under the beautiful Golte, Janez 🙂

9.7.2023:
Tradition is not to be abandoned, they say, and it's true we didn't. So the decision where to go fell again during the drive.
Tour: via Bosova over Kaptan to Brana – via Šija to Jermanova vrata – via Drenovci direction and NW ridge to Planjava – Zeleniške špice we started and ended at Jermanci.
Morning promised a beautiful day. Somewhere in the middle of Bosova gully the first sun rays caught us. After a few minutes we knew it would be hot that day. From the ridge towards Kaptan lower in the gully we admired the only animal that day, a chamois that didn't let itself be disturbed while grazing. On descent from Kaptan Vinko showed me that there's also an easier passage down. On the wonderful meadows of Brana we enjoyed the magic of nature's gardener. The diversity of flowers up there is really great. We were a bit surprised upon arriving at the top of Brana because of the large number of visitors. Up to here we felt like we were completely alone on the mountain. From Brana we looked at our next goal, Planjava.
We managed the descent via Šija to Jermanova vrata without major issues. Above the hut after eating we lay down in the soft grass and savored the beauties of the surroundings.
Knowing that a larger part of the tour was still ahead, we soon lifted our asses and headed towards Brinškov kotel. The gully into the kotel is still equally scree-filled. But the exit from it to Kunaverjeva polica is really nice climbing during which we quickly forgot the scree earlier.
Steep traverse from the ledge to NW ridge required quite some concentration and strength from us. Conversation quieted for a while. At the entry ledge to the ridge there's such a nice spot for enjoying that we had to stop, of course. Our legs were happy too. From excitement looking at the already conquered we yelled at the top of our lungs echoing far around.
Even along the ridge it went well for us. Alternating we searched for the right passages. Vinko was more and more surprised by the expanses of Planjava. The top of Planjava wasn't deserted either. We, used to solitude, preferred to descend to the meadow on the Highest edge of Zeleniške and surrendered to enjoyment before the finale of our tour. There Vinko tells me he had only a liter and a half of water with him and has very little left. Damn, how did you hold out with that when I almost emptied three and was still thirsty as a snake. With almost empty waterskins we could quench thirst while walking only with views of the cold pools below in Repov kot. During descent the problematic leg reminds me it needs to be spared more and use the healthy one and hands more. But it went quite nicely anyway, only Vinko besides the difficult descent had to listen to my whining too. Nebeška lojtra is still heavenly, just some smaller rockfall on it which spices it up even more. In the gully under Stanič we met two Croats returning from climbing above Kovačnica.
Pools in Repov kot put the icing on the cake of our tour. After a proper refreshment we continued onwards like reborn.
It was hard, it was beautiful.
Hard we've already forgotten, beautiful will stay in our memories forever.
Best regards and safe steps to all from under beautiful Golte, Janeznasmeh

17.10.2025: Mali Ozebnik 2321m, Pelc nad Klonicami 2443m, Veliki Pelc 2390m, Srednji Pelc 2338m, Zadnji Pelc 2317m
Also this time at the parking in Zadnja Trenta at five. Starry sky promised a beautiful day.
We quickly bit into the steep path toward the hut under Špička. It was quite cold, frozen ground and icy on the grasses.
Upon arrival at the hut we admired the wonderful sunrise behind Triglav. The surprised caretaker of the already closed hut greeted us.
Toward Škrbina za gradom there was some snow, but almost none on the path. From Škrbina we first climbed the ridge to Mali Ozebnik and from there eyed the ascent route to Pelc nad Klonicami.
Quite a few varied details had to be overcome on the ridge to it. Views got more and more beautiful with height. From the highest Pelc the continuation along the ridge to the other Pelci was nicely visible.
Ice a bit spiced our path on extremely steep grasses and rocks that were icy in places, which couldn't be distinguished from dry ones visually. We also treated ourselves to some abseils to avoid long detours.
Just as I stood on the window bridge between the two summits of Zadnji Pelc a flock of white-headed vultures flew over us. My skin crawled, it was such a beautiful sight.
From Zadnji Pelc we descended via the valley with Špičica and Skutnik to planina Zapotok. After refreshment in Suh potok, express to the car followed.
Dušan, Vinko, thanks for another beautiful joint Trenta tour.

13.10.2025: via ferrata Mučevo, Kancl (Gogin belay)

This time Zdravko is to blame for the adventure. We met at his place and drove via Sleme to Žerjav.
First we climbed the easier ferrata for warm-up (difficulty B, locally C).
Then we wanted to try the hard ferrata (difficulty D, locally E). We managed that too and enjoyed it a lot. Arms were really sore.
On the adjacent slope I spotted a great viewpoint while climbing and suggested to mates we go up there too. They were right in and no regrets. Great view of Žerjav and the ferrata from there.
Thanks Vinko and Zdravko for great company.

19.09.2025: Skutnik, Špičica, Nizki vrh, Zadnji Pelc, Pelc za Rušo (Griva)

Our path started in the dark at the parking lot in Zadnja Trenta.
There we meet a hiker who says he saw a bear a few minutes ago and will wait a bit before leaving.
On the way to Planina Zapotok we kept hearing the roaring of at least two bears. One on our right and one somewhere on Planina Zapotok. They were obviously talking about us intruders. Paw prints were also on our path.
Before Planina Zapotok we turned right into the gully towards Velika planina and across it to Skutnik. On the planina, as usual after three hours of walking, we took our first break in the pleasant morning sun. But already eyeing the very steep grasses of Skutnik.
My mates had crampons with them, which were very useful for the ascent. I grabbed tufts of thorny grass and looked for slightly less difficult passages among the hard ones. Happy and in good spirits we stepped onto the summit of Skutnik. The views were godly.
The next goal Špičica looked so close yet far. The steep grasses on descent from Skutnik on the north side looked really scary but when you start looking for passages they offer themselves. Dušan lost his sunglasses before the notch and thus got bonus steps. But he found them.
We climbed Špičica on the sunny side. That went well too. Descent from it we did along the extremely exposed grass ledge that brought us directly to the ridge towards the next goal Nizki vrh. This part of the path offers quite a few varied details so we could each test our climbing skills a bit our way.
We didn't stop at Nizki vrh as Zadnji Pelc was already calling. We climbed it express. Of course we had to peek through the wonderful window between the two summits. Stop at the highest summit was obligatory.
Descent along the ridge to Pelc za Rušo was pure enjoyment. I even treated myself to a short abseil. Legs weren't happy with the obligatory detour to its summit but again everything was rewarded with wonderful views.
Descent from Pelc za Rušo through steep grass and rock required maximum concentration. Vinko and Dušan chose the left gully, I the right.
Refreshment in Suhi potok was very welcome.
We started in darkness and ended in twilight this wonderful tour full of everything Trentarske tours offer.
Thanks mates for the company.
Best regards and safe steps from under beautiful Golte, Janez🙂

19.2.2025: Veliki vrh, Tolsti vrh

Drove to turnoff for Vodole pasture. Road there super plowed. Same on Podvežak side.
Pretty cold for current winters, -9°C and quite some fresh snow, about 30cm.
Making skin track to Jezera was fun. From there already done from Podvežak. We planned on the fly.
Spur to Sedelce perfectly set.
Ascent to Veliki vrh quite demanding. Mostly hard icy snow. Without skins wouldn't have made it up on skis. Buddy without them so went up with crampons. Great views all the time.
Skied towards Praga. Descent barely enjoyable. Such varied snow, hard to link even two or three turns, let alone more.
Ascent to Tolsti vrh much easier. Spur there too. Under Tolsti no buddy. Texts his binding broke. So went up alone. Descent from Tolsti much better. Met at Vodole.
Despite not best snow conditions fully enjoyed.
Dušan, thanks for company on tour.

4.2.2025: Ojstrica
The icy road to Vodol completely cleared our heads before the start of the tour. To Vodol still in the dark, but there the morning sun was already shining on Desko. Walking conditions were quite good. We slowly progressed towards Korošica and enjoyed the beautiful views. During the stop at the burnt hut, acquaintances passed by on touring skis. I almost regretted a bit that mine stayed in the car. We decided to try towards Ojstrica. Up to the last steep section below the summit the conditions for ascent were good, but the last steep part was quite icy. So there wasn't much talking on the way to the summit, we had to concentrate well. Not even the very strong wind could spoil the joy of reaching the summit. We decided to descend via Mala Ojstrica. Nice and strenuous. My calves were already burning quite a bit. No western capercaillie this time on the way back.
Vinko, thanks for the company on this beautiful tour.
Best regards and safe steps to everyone from below the beautiful Golte, Janez

Jermanca(900)-Zeleniške Spires(2127)-Planjava(2392)-Za vrati-Jermanca 17.6.2024:

From Jermanca to Repov kot the trail is still fairly level. Just right warmed up, we bit into the steeper slope in Repov kot.
There we casually stopped by the wonderful pools.
We approached Zeleniške via scree gully running under Staničev vrh.
Before Stanič we made a detour to Kovačnica and it didn't disappoint again.
Along Zeleniške we went right on the ridge and it went well. Just one tower in the last part had a few meters too demanding for unprotected descent. Had to go back the same way and then via a noticeably easier bypass on the left.
Beautiful, scenic traverse these Spires are. There are quite a few difficult and exposed details but when searching for holds and footholds you don't notice them.
On the Highest edge on wonderful grasses, joy over all the beauty that this traverse gave us. Then carefully right down to the col and over the window.
Planjava was not originally planned but its nearness pulled us up.
We descended via Sukalnik and through Za vrati to Pri pastirjih.
The Za vrati trail is almost fully overgrown in one part and descending the gully is a much better option.
We ended the nicely utilized day with cold drinks waiting for us at Jermanci.
Dušan and Vinko, thanks for super company on super tour.

Best regards and safe steps to all from under beautiful Golte, Janez 🙂

14.11.2024: Over Rački Gates and Mali Rt to Raduha
We postponed this trip for a long time because I kept getting colds. Well, even that day I wasn't healthy but the desire was too great.
We drove past the new bridge to Račnik. For parking we at least repaid a bit with a small liquid treat. Thanks again.
Still in the dark we tackled the slopes towards Rački Gates. It was quite cold, as the hoarfrost on the trees showed. Nice to see this natural wonder again after a long time. We arrived just as the sun hit them, morning mists adding special charm to everything.
For continuation we chose the lower path to Pomol pod Raduho. We stayed longer there, with such beautiful views it offers you can't just move on.
Above Pomol we went past "Treh cim" of course and immensely enjoyed their varied terrain there. You always discover something new there.
The continuation wasn't boring either, as before the last steeper part we turned right down scree into grassy gully and climbed the other side to neighboring ridge with fascinating spire. This ridge hides lots of beauty and is technically the hardest part of the trip.
From Mali Rt we extended to Raduha summit and finished another wonderful trip on marked path.

V Koncu(900)-Koroška Rinka(2433)-Skuta(2532)-Kokrsko sedlo(1793)-Jezerska Kočna(2540)-Grintavec(2558)-V Koncu(900)

Of course I don't refuse the invitation from two almost already famous ones who just walked SPP. On the way they revived fresh memories of it and it was very interesting to listen. How beautiful it must have been live. Congrats again.
The previous day we were on Koroška Rinka and Skuta and slept at Kokrsko sedlo. Early in the morning we descended under Grintavec to Dolce and continued towards Končna. At the top of the scree the two colleagues turned back due to a minor accident. I climbed to Kočna and descended via Grintavec and Dolgih sten back to Kokrsko sedlo, where the colleagues were sunbathing while waiting for me. The descent to the valley awaited us.
As the icing on the cake we treated ourselves to a swim in the cold Kamniška Bistrica and thus additionally spiced up the two-day adventure in our beautiful mountains.
Thanks Valerija and Sašo for the invitation and great company.

Of course I didn't refuse the invitation of two almost famous ones who just walked the SPP. On the way they revived fresh memories of it and it was very interesting to listen. How nice it must have been live. Congrats again.
Well to our tour. We started in V Koncu. There we were stunned by how the recent storm devastated and changed the local nature.
First stop at the bivouac under Skuta was welcome. Since Žmavčarji are not easy at all. Towards Koroška Rinka we continued a bit our own way. I don't know if we gained time, but it was a bit different. Views from it were really beautiful.
Return under Skuta and already in the fierce heat we overcame the ascent to its summit. Haven't stood on its top for a long time but the memory of that visit is still fresh: https://www.hribi.net/trenutne_razmere/slo/grebensko_precenje_kranjska_rinka_-_skuta/3/5546
From it we descended via Štruca to Velike pode to the bivouac under Grintavec. We warmed up a bit in it, as cold wind started blowing.
During descent to Kokrsko sedlo playful marmots entertained us. We slept there.
Next day to Kočna and Grintovec.

21.10.2024:
Matkova kopa again a bit differently
It was still dark when we were climbing the slope along the ridge to Jerebičje. It started dawning on it. Nice morning dawn it was.
We watched the sunrise on Matkov Grintovec.
At Jerševec we turned right down under Matkov zob. Wild and very demanding terrain around the Zob with quite a few windows and caves. The nicest triple window is on the western side of Zob, which we discovered years ago with Milan when we abseiled from Zob.
Up to the double window the terrain is especially tricky. Especially if you don't go the usual variant. We went each our own way and met exactly at the double window. We caught the time just right, as the sun started shining on it from behind the ridge to Kopa. The break suited us perfectly there.
We continued from that window straight up towards the top of Kopa. At some places it was quite demanding climbing, even over III. Also no lack of scree. A bit below the summit we discovered a new nice cave-tunnel, at least 30 meters long.
From the top of Kopa we descended along its ridge towards Matkova krnica. It's quite tough and tricky, but offers quite some enjoyment.
For Iglice we ran out of time, because short day. Straight through scree we descended to Krnica and down the hunting path back to start. There we unwittingly disturbed two hunters and dogs waiting in ambush.
With a great adventure these beautiful corners above Matkov kot served us again this time.
Martina, thanks for the nice shared day!

4.9.2024:
Triglav via Slovenian and Direttissima
Vrata Valley was still dark when we arrived at one of Europe's priciest mountain parkings.
We were among the first on the trail. Dawn at Slovenian entry hinted at a nice day.
To our surprise no one in Slovenian all the way to the top. Quickly past larches and already in gully under White Slabs. These are enjoyable to climb, smooth and unbreakable. We alternate leading and already in gully under next jump - Bučar gully. This climbs nicely too. Soon we cross Zlatorog ledge path and already in Slovenian gully. At the end of gully window awaits us and on left under it smooth slabs. We don't go through it, we go across. We finish Slovenian via Frelih exit around Slovenian tower.
Happy after conquered after short rest we bite into steep scree towards Kugy ledge. It was a bit eerie for me this time and I sighed in relief when it was over.
View opened to west summit head of Triglav. Mighty wall quickly lures us in.
We leave Kugy and traverse scree to entry into Italian Direttissima. We don't know it and are a bit on pins and needles how it will go. Initial tension quickly fades as we start enjoying each conquered step more.
Not hard to follow it, full of torn slings and mostly still solidly anchored old pitons from times of old Rapallo border when Italian alpinists walked it. Pitons were big help on at least two demanding spots.
Solitude in which we enjoyed the whole way ends with arrival at top of Father.
Descended via Kredarica on Tominsko and treated ourselves nicely in Triglavska Bistrica.
Martina thanks for great company on such a successful tour.

Loška stena day 2 31.7.2024: Bricelk(2346)-Oltarji(2308)-Vrh rup(2245)-Oblica(2246)-Vrh krnice(2234)-Kobila(2098)-Bavšiva(700)

Bivouac on Bricelk in clear night was a special experience. At the same time very nice but also strenuous. Not a square meter flat up there and whatever way I turned something was poking me. During insomnia phases I stared at starry sky, wished something nice on shooting stars and could hardly wait for sunrise. It was wonderful, rose between Mali and Veliki Ozebnik.
Easy start gently down grassy ridge to Oltarji perfect for our old joints. Ascent to it already hinted that second half of ridge won't be easier than first.
Before Oblica for demanding smooth belly we gladly used the fixed prusik. Thanks to Mateja and friend who renewed and equipped several anchors anew a couple days before.
Plenty of enjoyable airy ridge walking still to Vrh krnice.
Before descent to fortress Kluže we dropped to Kobila. Dušan could tick off the last two-thousander in Loška stena.
Descent in worst daily heat was tough indeed and we ran out of drinks too. Dušan sacrificed and went for car to Bavšica. Thanks. Oh how good that cold drink from car tasted.
Then drove to first possible access to Koritnica, enjoyed cold water there, then long way home awaited.
Tough and unforgettable adventure was this ridge traverse of Loška stena.
Dušan, Vinko, thanks for company and transport.

Loška stena day 1 30.7 2024: Bavšica(700)-Plešivec(2168)-Bavh(2189)-Vrh Goleževice(2119)-Bedinji vrh(2196)-Mali Bedinji vrh(2174)-Konjska škrbina(2040)-Votli vrh(2197)-Morež(2261)-Bricelk(2346)

Last year Dušan and I were up there. We traversed this part of Loška stena to Morež, he promised the second half for this year. Vinko joined, always eager for wild ends. I added something to the idea and this came out.
First plan a few days earlier fell through because Dušan got sick. It was a bit weird. Cancels at midnight, departure at two, all with packed rucksacks. We ate sandwiches at home then.
Second time it worked. We started in Bavšica. Heavy dew surprised us so we were all completely wet underfoot. Upon reaching Plešivec, the enjoyment began.
So much diverse lush greenery and beautiful flowers as here I've never seen anywhere else in the mountains, not to mention all the other beauty.
Crazy beautiful setting with endless views, local residents watch you from rocks and sky, varied terrain invites from peak to peak. Traverses on demanding ridge offer themselves. You fully realize you're moving in a world of very demanding pathless terrain, ibex, chamois, ptarmigan, snakes, bearded vultures, high walls, steep grass, no water no huts.
To Morež we stuck to the ridge completely and stepped on all peaks. Stražar below it we bypassed left on steep grass with short abseil and climbed via Nad jamo to the first day's goal Bricelk.
Tired from heavy rucksacks, demanding terrain, lots of elevation but with wonderful experiences we bivouacked on it after beautiful sunset.

Along the ridge to Križevnik 16.7.2024:
Around four in the dark at the parking lot before Govec in Robanov kot we started our tour.
The walk to Turnica is not some great beauty but rather a necessity to get higher to the terrain for real enjoyment. The overgrown part of the ridge at the edge of Belšekova planina raised the adrenaline in our bodies a bit.
At the sight of the sunlit start of the vertical bare ridges my heart squeezed a bit. No more chatter. Each sought the right direction for himself in very loaded terrain. After a few climbed meters I got a dry mouth, which rarely happens to me. The colleagues seemed much more relaxed. Luckily it passed quickly. Although I have scrambled here many times I still notice something new.
The female part of the team, Martina, was here for the first time. We didn't know each other before, but we got along really well very quickly.
Enjoyment on the ridge only escalated. The variety of the ridge offers something new with every meter. Chamois provide company and alpine flowers with the most beautiful gentians among them make everything even prettier. Climbing above the very airy wall of Križevnik is very special. Brushwood serves as holds. The detour over high brushwood to the forepeak, where the newly cut path led us, was unnecessary for us.
On the summit joy over the achievement took us.
We descended via the hunting path to Robanova planina. We observed many chamois on it.
In the trough water was flowing this time and we could refresh and quench our thirst. Even more so later in Savinja at Rogovilc.
Martina and Vinko, thank you for the wonderful company.
Best regards and safe steps to all from under beautiful Golte, Janez🙂

Trogar's Pit 5.2.2024:
For years I dreamed of discovering a big cave and the dream came true in November 2020 when while exploring Golte I came across this beautiful pit on the eastern side of Požganija.
This time Vinko and I went into it. We were inside for a good two hours and both enjoyed it a lot. The cave always surprises me with its beauties again and again. Always something new.
Then we moved past my bivouac on Javorca to the other side of Požganija and there too climbed into two shafts in the wall above Mesarska lopa. The smaller one, Janez's meander, I discovered a few years ago. It was waiting just for me when I went there to relieve myself. The real challenge for us was the slightly longer Dry meander in the upper half of the overhanging wall at Mesarska lopa. Access is only by air and we really worked up a sweat to climb into it.
Next to it is a ledge where a pair of ravens nested until a few years ago. Every spring they had three chicks. Then the big nest fell down. Nevertheless they continued nesting up there, but every spring I found eggs on the ground below. While descending into the shaft I checked it out and made them a new nest a few days ago. Now I hope they like it.
For the end, a rope descent from the shaft awaited us.
Tired, dirty, scratched and happy we relived another great adventure on Golte on the way to the car.
Lp and safe step from under the beautiful Golte, Janez🙂
