This morning at 6:30 I climbed with touring skis to the viewpoint on Stari vrh. The trip itself was nothing special, nice landscape and morning peace, but on return some more trouble as the parking attendant waited for me at the car and escorted me to the cash desk where I had to buy a one-way ticket for the chairlift (10 €) with the explanation that I was hiking up the ski slope when it was closedzmedenSo all who plan to walk or otherwise visit the viewpoint on Stari vrh, beware not to do it on the ski slope when it is closed.mrk pogledjezenzadregazmeden Tourism we are, people but not everywhere!!!!!

With today's news about the great loss of our Tomaž, a giant on a world scale, a man who was connected to the mountain, nature has again shown and proven that despite all achievements and knowledge we are still very small and powerless compared to natural laws. Personally, I feel extremely affected and sad about this news, so I decided to open this topic because Tomaž surely deserves it.

Path via Plemenice climbing part without snow protections perfect. ZTP almost fully snow covered but yesterday just soft enough that crampons and ice axe stayed in backpack. On way to summit snow to notch but goes nicely past it from notch snowfield to cross but also softened with good steps so no big issues but caution not superfluous as slip here goes very deep. Tominsek path has standard snowfield in gully which still quite full and thus very elegantly passable anyway no mistake allowed here, rest of path no issues. As far as seen path over Prag more or less without notable larger snowfield. Anyway ice axe and crampons in backpack not superfluous esp on cooler day like yesterday as with harder snow much snowed becomes impassable without winter gear. According to Kredarica crew almost daily some accident around here like yesterday when hiker without crampons ice axe tried to go around Triglav from Kredarica to Planika and slipped on snowfield stopped hard much lower on scree luckily no major injuries. Anyway extra caution not superfluous esp for unaccustomed to walking on snow in mountains.

sedromeo, I see you successfully finished the "mona" tour. Greetings from "žabar".

Yesterday I managed to witness very irresponsible behavior in the mountains, namely the attached pics are from the final part of the ferrata Via Italiana. The guy was dressed as if going to mass: velvet pants, white shirt and knitted vest and hat against the sun. Well, he had work gloves which somehow shows that he knew what he was getting into. He didn't care much for the girl behind him as if they were not together but she was the same as him, with no gear except gloves. Let me say it was not the infamous "Czechs" but our mountain folk and the guy was over fifty for sure. Luckily they exited safely at the saddle but otherwise maybe not. Given the traffic yesterday up there and falling rocks, they really could have had at least helmets.

On Sunday at Kotovo Saddle lots of 25 to 30 cm powder nothing tracked and no skins so the thing ideal for ski touring for hiking only with mandatory snowshoes. As said conditions ideal for touring skis.
A few more pics on the link below.

Yesterday from Krnica via Kriška stena I visited Dolkova špica. Just before entering the wall I left the fog behind and stepped into the sun. The path is super except for the big remark about old, rare and unrenewed markers that would be very useful in possible fog and at the same time praise to the cairns builder who really helps in finding the path in many places. Otherwise on the whole path I didn't meet anyone and surrounding peaks looked lonely except on Škrlatica I noticed one visitor. Really a true autumn idyll. Snow practically none, only near the top are individual patches of extremely hard snow which can be easily bypassed.

Today I visited Turska gora from Kamniško sedlo and back via Brana too. Despite bad weather thick fog the tour was nice especially safe because markings and wire ropes in excellent condition all praise to markists maintaining the path actually this praise is also the reason I posted. Keep it up with the path maintenance.nasmehnasmeh

Since an ad has appeared let me add one similar, only my shoes worn only 1x size 44 namely LOWA CEVEDALE GTX whose new price is 269.00€. I am willing to sell them for 180.00€. They are really like new but unfortunately turned out too small.

If someone was at Kredarica today, I'd ask for a short path description and safety on the path re avalanches.
janik13. 03. 2010 16:45:58
The path is very well trodden without avalanche danger, just slippery at times but nothing serious, with poles no problem. Today nice sunny weather and accordingly large crowd of walkers and ski tourers, so no worries tomorrow on the path.nasmeh

Tol, if you read my first post you'll see that I just wanted to warn others who might have similar goals as mine that they might have problems and that's what this forum is primarily for.
By email I contacted the director of Stari Vrh ski resort where I described the course of events that morning in detail and asked him only for clarification if in his opinion everything went as they have written in the rules or if my behavior was really so irresponsible, but unfortunately to this day I wasn't worth a response or explanation (regarding arguing the events). On site I only had an overconfident guy dressed in a vest with warden written on it and that on the parking lot not on the ski slope and a lady at the cash desk who helplessly charged me the ticket at that guy's request. Let me say out loud again that the problem is not in money and ticket but in the explanation of the punishment i.e. that my action was dangerous and the authority that decided on that fine.nasmeh
janik11. 03. 2010 18:48:06
Tol I see you're well versed in rules and laws I'm not and maybe that's exactly why I go into nature where unwritten laws of nature mostly apply and therefore I don't own it but I'm just a part of it at the moment when I use it and then leave it as I got it for others, without bad thoughts and intentions. When you say let him read something smarter and more suitable for this website let me remind you that on 28.2. you asked about conditions on Kokrsko sedlo, on 8.3. you answered yourself but not with conditions on the path and around it but only with a gripe about the winter hut. It would be much better if you added some photo from the path and description instead of just writing about the bad condition of the winter hut that most don't use anyway.
Otherwise you can skip a thread that tires you instead of participating in it so actively like you.
No hard feelings.nasmehnasmehnasmeh

Vikon, you say you won't be smart because you weren't there; before that you already spilled everything about how it was. I climbed strictly along the edge of the ski slope, the car wasn't parked perfectly but still it was parked right at the very exit from the parking lot and didn't bother anyone since there was already a nicely parked bus right next to it. Twenty euros wasn't meant as a bribe but I wanted to tell the "warden" that it's not about money for me but about the principle since someone explains to me that it's because of dangerous behavior and chatter about ratracking the slope at 6.30 in the morningzmeden
The ruined slope on Stari Vrh is made by skiers who drive by car to the middle of the ski slope and then ski down first prematurely. Let me tell you also that on the upper part of the ski slope from the drag lift that leads to the top they were already skiing and setting up the slope for the race at seven; by 8.15 it was all ruined and scratched since meanwhile the competitors were already diligently warming up and speeding on the slope among ordinary recreational skiers among whom there were also small children but I didn't notice anyone warning them that the competition area is on the other side of the fence.
But they noticed a touring skier how he slowly step by step climbs up on the closed ski slope and causes general danger. From the hut at the top I skied down at 8:15 then the slope was already open. On the prohibition sign, if you recognize pictures, you don't even need to be literate; there's no whiff of prohibiting hiking but clearly drawn skier in ski stance and all crossed out.
So, Vikon, you spilled some useless stuff and that from the couch.velik nasmeh

I don't know about the legal basis, nor if it's true that with a one-way ticket you can walk on the ski slope, I've sent a more detailed description of the incident and some questions to the director of Stari vrh. If I don't get answers, I'll try to turn to A kanal on the Svet show for help.
It's not about money, but about the illogical explanation of the "warden" from the parking lot, which was based on safety. At the entrance to the ski area there is a sign prohibiting skiing when it's not operating, adding that it also applies to touring skiers, but nowhere is walking or any other movement on the terrain prohibited when the lifts are not running. When can moving up the ski slope be safer than early morning when there are no skiers yet and it's really impossible for a collision or any other accident to happen. That's what happens when you put a yellow vest with "warden" on an incompetent person and then he becomes the boss.eek
