There are many courses in Slovenia. I think almost every AO organizes them. I attended the one at AO TAM and it wasn't in vain. I heard, saw and experienced quite a few interesting and new things....nasmeh

I've been involved in sports my whole life, previously professionally, now amateurishly with various sports, so fitness is not a problem. In 2008 I also started mountaineering and it hooked me. I started with tours like Mangart (Slovenian, Italian), Jalovec, Triglav (via Plamenice), Skuta... in short, all very demanding ones, because I wanted to find out if I'm cut out for it or not. I also walk easier paths and enjoy them, no mistake, but I have time for those in later years. Last year I attended an alpinism course and I must say it wasn't in vain. You learn a lot and also realize that the mountain in winter is something completely different from summer, when you go along the ridge without worry because there's a path, in winter those paths mostly aren't there, but a smooth snowy slide. If you slip there....
Anyway, this year I also planned to go to the mountains in winter and I admit I don't have much experience with winter ascents, but I couldn't find a partner for some winter climb (time coordination). So I plan to go, when conditions allow, to Stenar, because I saw pictures of winter ascent and it excited me. I would also climb Triglav, but only with an alpinist escort, because the ascent to Mali Triglav seems quite demanding to me. Anyway, the alpinism school will be very useful to you, as you will learn a lot about conditions as well as proper use of equipment (knots, self-belaying, movement on terrain...). I hope you got some information from the "less experienced".

Is it possible to get from Vršič to Prisank in one day, then to Razor, to the hut at Kriški podi and back to Vršič? Probably yes, and how long does the route take? Thanks.

ledo84; there are almost no protections or very few from the very top of Jalovec towards Kotovo sedlo, despite the relative steepness downward. So you have to be more careful. Otherwise it goes. The upper third of the path is mainly exposed, then it's a tourist path.

In August I was on Jalovec. Nice tour no doubt. With a buddy we started at 06:00 from Tamar, to which we drove by car (it was still possible then). To the summit via Jalovec saddle 4:20 hours, back via Kotkovo sedlo, where on descent it was a bit uncomfortable as there are no fixed protections on top or they are sparingly placed (3:40 hours). So at normal pace and stops we were back in Tamar at 15:00. Otherwise a very nice trip. One of the nicest tours.

How is it on Mrzla gora. This year I started mountaineering and to test my abilities I summited Mangart (Slovenian/Italian route), Jalovec, Triglav (via Plemenice and back via little and big Vrbanova špica), now heading to Mrzla gora. They say it's a demanding tour because no protections. Interested in comparison to the summited peaks. Thanks and best.
