We cycled this on Sunday, super tour, but need some prior fitness to manage it, elevation is just a bit less than Vršič has wink
I suggest a circular route too: start in Italy below Mangart lakes (Laghi di Fusine). Bike path start marked about 1-2 km before lakes along regional road above gravel parking... then continue on nice asphalt bike path towards Rateče, across border past Petrol towards gostilna Šurc and then on the already described path... for this loop descend to Italian side, where from top first 10 min road a bit worse or rockier (downhill bikes-no problem, I walked few min with trekking bike myself), then alternates gravel and nice wide asphalt road to settlement Fužine (Fusine in Valromana), turn left uphill on regional road (to SLO) back to Laghi di Fusine turnoff. Then some more ascent on regional road to gravel parking.

Holiday Friday perfect for visiting long-awaited less crowded Zadnjiški Ozebnik. Beautiful summit with wonderful views to Kriške pode, Triglav, Prehodavci and more.. Path now completely dry, easier, suitable for kids too. Minor annoyances from overgrown dwarf pines on path here and there, so need to watch a bit not to stray, but many cairns helpfully show the way. I put up two myself! Great trip, recommend to all!
PS: When do we organize small clearing of 'branchy' bushes on the path?
Praise also to person(s) maintaining the summit logbook with nice book of memories!

I'm also heading back to Zadnjica tomorrow for the weekend right under the slopes of Kanjavec. But I'll probably just go to Zadnjiški ozebnik, which looks like a very nice tour too. I think huts are opening tomorrow too, at least Pogačnikov dom at Kriških podih. Check with the alpine association for the numbers of Zasavska hut (or Tržaška hut), which is regularly flown over by helicopter, maybe they'll have fresher info on how much snow is left on Kanjavec. LP, hope the tour succeeds, maybe we'll meet somewhere mežikanje

If I understand you right, you want to do a loop from Zadnjica towards Luknja and then midway a branch to Dolič or Tržaška hut to Kanjavec and then over Prehodavci and Zadnjiški dol back to the valley? Last week I went from Zadnjica over Zadnjiški dol to Prehodavci. There were still some snow patches on the way but nothing serious, now probably even that has melted. There was a little (5cm) snow also at Zasavska hut (shame I don't know how to upload pics herezmedenvelik nasmeh). Towards Luknja up to 1750 no snow patches visible. From 2000 on it's a different story. How it is further to Kanjavec I don't know, but last week when I was vacationing in Zadnjica it was constantly cloudy, Sunday and Monday apparently snowed again up to 2300m. lp

The summit is already completely bare nasmeh

The last 400-500 m below the summit there is still about 50 cm of snow, which is melting quickly. smile

I wasn't paying attention to lost stuff, because I was more lost myself velik nasmeh so unfortunately I saw nothing, snow's to blame too yeah.. I think you still have chances to find them, since it's not an overly crowded mountain mežikanje

It's true, yesterday during a break on the bench in front of the hunting hut on the way to Kamniški dedec in the direction of view towards Kamniško sedlo I observed three avalanches... it was really awful to hear that rumbling.
spotonbody4. 04. 2010 08:50:07
Then we probably met yesterday below the summit, given that there weren't more footprints than from two people and mine. nasmeh
Yes, under the summit it sinks to the butt! nasmeh From that I was really exhausted even more than from Triglav. jezik
