"In the regional association of hunting ground managers of the Gorenjska hunting-management area, they warn that hunters are witnessing increasing pressure on forests from walkers and recreationalists as well as dog walkers, motorcyclists, cyclists and quad drivers.
»Also noticeable is the invasion of mushroom pickers, chestnut gatherers and lantern walkers. In the natural environment, all kinds of movement are increasing, not just from day to day, but from night to night. Nighttime human movement in the forest causes additional unrest for animals, and animals respond with stressful retreat to quieter areas. This among other things causes changes in biorhythm, decline in vitality, occurrence of diseases and numerical reduction of individual animal species," says the concerned president of the association Andrej Avsenek."
King of Gorenjska hunting grounds is the deer
As the interlocutor emphasized, last year there was the most deer harvested, as it surprisingly became one of the most numerous animal species in Gorenjska. More than thirty years ago there were almost no deer in the area. Last year's shooting statistics show that it increased from 300 animals to 1359 animals in the recent period, which is a 400-percent growth.
»On the other hand, certain animal species are disappearing, such as field game, hare and field chickens (partridge and quail), which we hardly know anymore. Wild rooster and capercaillie are also disappearing," said Andrej Avsenek. He also warned about jackals – a dangerous alien animal species that settled in Gorenjska about ten years ago
»In 2017 the first jackal was harvested, last year already 159 jackals. This species has spread across the entire Gorenjska and causes great damage especially to young roe deer, so in lowland hunting grounds where roe deer is the main game, we practically have almost empty grounds. But jackal doesn't only attack young ones, it hunts in packs and can therefore catch even adult animals," explained Avsenek.
He highlighted that jackal aggressiveness has caused a massive decline in roe deer population: ten years ago more than 4000 roe deer heads were harvested annually in Gorenjska, last year only 3000. According to the interlocutor, jackal has a negative impact on other species too, as it preys on hares and young chamois and mouflon: »So it's a new predator in our environment"
That's around the numbers, then legislation.. how they want changes

Anyway, of course we all agree that motor vehicles off roads are not welcome. But that lantern walkers threaten game while he lists "how many they shot last year? wtf? ..mildly put "THIS ONE IS HUNTING!"
And don't forget - these are numbers only for Gorenjska
