The last summer day served us a pathless summit opposite Žrd on the Kanin foothills. From bivouac Marušič we followed the path to Tamaroz in Reklanska valley. At the foot of the proud loner we found a passage in dense karst scenery and climbed steep grasses along the eastern ridge to the panoramic summit.

The completely dry access from St. Jakob im Defereggental already on Sunday, 28.6.15, after a morning washed by a night shower, offered everything the High Tauern can offer in these conditions: comfortable paths, benches, abundance of flowers (one path is called Blumenweg), beautiful views, staffed hut (Seespitzhütte 2327m), glacier lake (Oberseitsee 2576m), a few meters of chain-secured ridge, some easy climbing to the summit cross (with logbook and stamp). One of the easier three-thousanders is reached after about 4 hours of steady ascent from the parking at Jausestation Trogach above St. Jakob. The first part, to the lake, is also suitable for a trip with children; the ridge requires surefootedness.

The path over Križce is so overgrown with blackberries and fallen branches that I suggest to the mountaineering association Nova Gorica or the tourist association Grgar that they remove both direction signs - on the road to Holy Mountain and in Grgar. And of course also the description on this page. There are some fairly fresh red dots with okays and red ribbons, but amid the densest thorns the marks disappear. It is not a path, at most game trails, and even those are barely discernible.
For a breakthrough, hedge clippers or a saw are needed. And torn pants should not be a pity.
