Today we headed into the long valley that takes you from Brunico under the three-thousanders – Tauferer Ahrntal (Valli di Tures e Aurina). We drove right to the end, to the organized parking lot (Kasern – Casere, 1566 m). The wide gravel path (no. 13) leads past the Prastmarn hut, past an interesting little church from 1455, Trinkstein hut, to the pleasant stop at the end of the valley, Kehrer. From here we continue on the path, where stone steps made from local rocks impress us. The path offers a wonderful view of the valley and slopes crisscrossed with larger and smaller torrents. After 20 minutes and over 100 m elevation, we reach the Lahner hut (1986 m), pressed against a huge rock. From here a view of the Prettau glacier opens up for us. Wonderful trip for when you don't want effort!

Our starting point for the ascent to the 2818 m high "Red Wall" was the Staller Sattel pass, 2050 m (the border between Austria and Italy runs over it). The path is very well marked (no. 7), the terrain extremely watery. Along the path and on nearby slopes there are still quite a few "winter remnants". The summit itself, in contrast to the plateaus which the approach follows, is quite crumbly, steep in the last part. Nice and technically undemanding tour.

Yesterday for me and a friend to an unknown area that I hardly know. Destination Racna gora, some descriptions are on hribi.net. The path is marked from Vrhnika pri Lož, in the lower part pleasant for walking, but when the markings direct you to the trail it is overgrown in places and the path is not visible at all in places, so, one has to be careful where the markings direct you, but there are many cart tracks and forest roads. We return by the same path, in the lower part we turn right to the paragliding takeoff and straight to the cart track. On the top it was windy, but there is no view, because the top is overgrown. We didn't meet anyone.

When "tašči" language blooms

I wasn't the guide, but I was on the hike on 28th and 29th September 2018 along the first ascenders' path, on the 240th anniversary of the first ascent to Triglav.

Did we maybe meet?

Pleasant ascent to Dovška Baba, fresh morning, pleasant for walking during the day with a light breeze. No more snow, paths are dry. Quite a few hikers. The pictures also say something about the day.

In the entire upper part there are some sections on the path (five to ten meters where there is snow), but it clears it very quickly. If it stays this warm and there are no new snowfalls, next week it will only be wet.

Today a spring ascent to Viševnik, snow starts somewhere at around 1600m altitude, which holds in the upper part, above Plesišče saddle it sinks in places among the scrub even over the knees. Summit part mostly crusty. Few hikers, mostly foreigners, some very inadequately equipped (short pants, sneakers, no extra clothing). Nice ascent in good company. Thanks to M. and T. Dobnikar for the super day.

Yesterday to Blegoš from Leskovica via unmarked paths, snow starts around 1300 meters. At the top fog and wind, we only met one chamois. Return past the hut via marked path.

Today, 09.03.2026, at the cemetery in Kranj, members of AO Rašica, GRS Ljubljana and members of Mountain Guides bid farewell to Vanja Matijevec. We will preserve him in fond memory, as he was our instructor and role model at the same time.
He was a man with a big heart who always helped fellow climbers and renounced his dream goals on this path of humanity.
Vanja, rest in peace.
