I don't like opening new topics... but I'm quite surprised that nothing in this style has been opened yet. I'd say many people have already walked something similar.

So, the Saturday idea was to roughly circle the Ljubnica basin. If sticking to it as precisely as possible, I'd have to start in Ljubnem. But Boskovec would have to be left alone, as it sticks out of it. But as said - approximately. So from the hunting hut straight to the ridge, along the ridge to Travnik, Komna and Smrekovec. Turn south - across Kalski ridge, Boskovec, Golte and back to the start.

I'd rather not open new topics, but I searched and didn't find anything about it. zadrega

So, the plan was as in the title - traverse from High Kanin over the Vršiči to Prestreljenik. As much as possible along the ridge, as feasible. Or, as long as we stay at "scree level" and don't venture into alpinism velik nasmeh It was clear beforehand that the last part to Prestreljenik, above the window, doesn't go like that.
In the end there was unmarked terrain, searching passages in wild collapsed world only over Middle Vršič and a bit further to "konfina 14/8". Then everything ahead looked "too much" and we descended to marked path. We skipped the ascent to Ugly Vršič due to fog that gathered then. So further along marked to the window and to Prestreljenik.

Looks like we were one of the few that day who walked from Žlebi to the hut...zadrega

Kotova špica is mentioned in several topics, but it doesn't seem to have its own... Well, I'm writing in this one because we're already talking about the approach from Kotovo sedlo nasmeh
Quite wildly exposed, broken... and in the end I was hitting myself on the head because I left the rope in the car zadrega
But it will be an excuse for another visit...

And then the riddle continues?

Ok, it looks like I see what the problem is...freemap.eu doesn't load, freemap.sk does work.
Trobec16. 08. 2026 13:43:17
Does the site currently have any problems? Somehow it doesn't load the maps.

HVala nasmeh

Only the initial part of the via ferrata is harder, afterwards it's nicely laid out. Another option is (though somewhat longer) from Contrin, at the notch it joins the via ferrata and there's no need to cross the collapsing glacier and the difficult initial part of the via ferrata.

I was also surprised by the "untouched" condition of the cartridges. Quite remarkable that they were frozen somewhere in the glacier, without running water and oxygen. Now they've peeked out.

Daaam, just thinking about these "quotas"... Yesterday I went for the third time in a good half year through Tamar. Before 2x with skis, this time on foot. Well, ran back, but it doesn't matter... Anyway, thousands of tourists who sometimes literally like headless chickens jump here and there. Skiing was in winter in this part more dangerous than through Jalovški ozebnik. And now if (paid) quotas come I don't doubt at all that these tourists, some of whom don't even know how to behave in nature and whose only goal is beer/strudel/... in Tamar, will have priority over us mountaineers...

Last extended weekend (Thu-Sun) we went with PD Sežana to the Dolomites. This year the weather was more favorable than last year velik nasmeh The royal stage was on Saturday on Marmolada.
First, the path from Fedaia via ferrata is very different than 6 years ago. We crossed the glacier up approximately where the marked and drawn path is, but it wasn't the best option. Crampons were mandatory. On the way back we went (like others) right along the wall, viewed from below. On this variant you go without crampons, less struggling. On one rock jump there is a "very improvised" rope, which helps, especially down. The rock is quite smooth due to water and ice.
The entry itself into the via ferrata (newly equipped), the lower 4-5m, is quite a bit harder than anything else ahead. And it's not at all B/C, as is otherwise the rating of the via ferrata. Overhanging, pitons quite apart, you can't reach the cable at all if you don't have long arms. Most clip onto the pitons. And yes, one of ours would probably have stayed below if I hadn't had rope with me. Nowhere else did she have problems then.
The glacier is of course in a miserable state, the lake level is very low.

Fat peak?

Bravo for this project! Very interesting data.

It reminds me a bit of the corona times... namely that first lockdown. For about 3 days I looked at maps and collected data to make a circle around my municipality (Komen). And when I had already quite accurately drawn the route... the quarantine was over velik nasmehjezik

@miri super! In the wider area of Krvavec about 100 of us were waiting...and a cloud just formed in that direction...zadrega

Yeah, Loška stena is really majestic nasmeh

But I think it could have been put under an already open topic

Janez, sometimes before pressing the "send" button it is good to read the comment you are replying to once more and think again what it conveys cool
I did not mean anything bad.

Regarding SVK as a guide of course I will not encourage anyone not to use it but in the end a person decides for themselves whether to use it or not. Based on their experience knowledge how confident they feel...

I'm just realizing that in demanding terrains like ZZ paths, ZZ off-trail, well there where there are climbing sections, low hiking shoes are better than heavy clunky boots. Due to greater mobility you simply climb more easily on your feet.
They are of course less suitable for scree descents.

A loop over Stegovnik and surrounding peaks, so somewhere where there's at least a little more coolness cool
