The starting point of this short Low Tauern hike is the Solk Pass, to which we drove from the direction of Murau. The hike is suitable for stretching the legs if we're driving around these parts and have enough time. We spiced it up with feasting on blueberries and cranberries. Views in all directions are wonderful.

We plan to go to Austria for a few days' vacation. We'd like to do some short hikes in the mountains suitable for a 3.5-year-old child, swim some days,... I've already looked a bit on the net, but I'd be glad for some first-hand advice on nice and suitable spots, especially regarding the mountains. We'll sleep in campsites.

Hats off, that's a very long tour. You went past us too, if I'd seen you, I'd surely addressed you and invited for coffee. You're great, pleasure to read your descriptions.

On the second day of my trip around the Carnics, I set Monte Zermula as my goal. I set off early along the path to the ferrata entrance. As Bagi already wrote, the entry part surprised me with, for ferratas of this type, surprisingly worn smoothness. So after climbing a few meters and since I didn't know what to expect next, I rather turned back and accepted that plans need to be changed. Good thing the friendly newcomers convinced me to return , because the ferrata higher up is very nice and easy. Thanks again and let me know, I have quite some pics... With them I also climbed to Zuc della Guardia, which has a nice and not too difficult ferrata.

After more than ten years I return to the beloved Karnic Alps. This time goals different, choosing more frequented paths and shorter approaches . Drive to Lonice pass. For first goal choose Veliki Koritnik. Follow path 439 past Val Dolce pasture to foot of mountain, there turn right to path 403. Some time on it to poorly marked branch for ferrata Crete Rosse. Ferrata very nice, continuously protected by cable and not too difficult, rock nicely structured. On summit enjoyed views and planning next day Returned via normal route, which in last part demanding scrambling with some II grade spots. Path quite equipped, rock compact enough for safe climbing. Continued over Val Dolce saddle and via path 458 to start. Below saddle possible to refill water, at least this time.

Another adventure from the hills. My ex loved to, usually on unmarked paths or less crowded trails, strip naked and walk like that, of course with shorts in hand so he could dress in a couple of seconds if someone appeared nearby. Once we forgot to keep eyes peeled, debating something full on, three hikers coming towards us. We totally forgot he was naked and walked casually right past them, only their really horrified looks let us know something was off. We just burst into laughter. I'll never forget those looks

On Tuesday on Menina Planina I stumbled upon a huge flock of small birds. Experts probably know which species. They moved from one end of the forest to the other and a bit around, it was a joy to watch and listen to them.

Easy tours - Niedere Tauern north of Murau. Lots of bike paths, the most famous along the Mura river, hills offer many hiking trails of various difficulties. Useful hiking map with all important info available at the tourist info in Murau. Plenty of accommodation capacities in these parts.
Destination tested with a small child, we were very satisfied. We'll definitely return to these areas.

Very nice and well documented tour. Congratulations. These are really beautiful and wild corners, suitable for those who enjoy exploring remote spots.

Since originally I didn't plan to cross the ridge and thus had no description, I thought I'd go have a look and turn if not possible. First part of ridge easy, path well visible. Suddenly no continuation, and since I didn't know if passable I descended on nasty steep grass to marked path to Košutnikov Turn. At home I checked LJ description and others and was a bit sorry I didn't continue. Definitely will repeat it, unfinished things need finishing.
