Well, my dad bought Alpina last summer too, a low hiking shoe, anyway something for quality. In K. Gora on a walk with the dog the sole peeled off after half an hour. Of course he took it back. Yeeeah, no warranty, we can just glue it. It came back totally sloppily glued and rude staff too... then as you wish

Yeah, I've heard of quite a few such stories too, of course some I can't verify and they're almost beyond believable. I don't know what I'd do if the sole peeled off somewhere above 2000m, probably someone would have to eat it the next day! I don't like doing ads for any company, but in 25 years I've bought four Planika boots, worn out the soles on all four and if I got them resoled (but I'm afraid of the resoling quality so they don't fall off) I could happily wear them another 25 years since the upper is indestructible, first pair I still use in the forest for logging. LG assuming from your mileage you have quite some experience with them, what do you recommend?

For some years I've been using Alpina shoes Anapurna and Tibet and both models are excellent. When the sole wears out, they replace it, with foreign brands that's almost impossible due to the way the bottom part is made.

Since 1977 I've been using Alpina shoes. Don't know how many pairs anymore, but no complaints! In the shop friendly and professional (Kranj), quality top level, comfort appropriate. Currently have Tibet, Anapurna and Lhotse. Satisfied with all. Soles are Vibram, they wear out anyway all of them.

I'm also satisfied with their footwear, once or twice I replace the sole because I walk a lot and wear it out quickly... quality leather and currently using Teton, Peak and summer Tibet..

I have Tibet, my wife has Nepal, we are both very satisfied. They are heavier shoes, but consequently more durable. Nepal is a bit more robust than Tibet and has an extra protective cover in front, so I'll buy it next time too.

So far with the Lotse model I've done nearly 500 hours. They are quite worn out (worn sole, peeled rubber on sides), but also because I didn't exactly take care of them. I would choose this model again.

Cenc, exactly that happens to mine after approx. ±100 hours of walking, and even the rubber peeled off from the front, and I'm not rough with them—in 25 years I've replaced three Planika due to worn soles, uppers like new.

The first Tibet, which I still use at home, I've done about 150,000 meters of elevation gain so far, the profile is really worn out. Teton some winter ascents are still like new from the shop. As I already mentioned, I never dry boots on the stove or radiator but only at room temperature. At Alpina sole change for Tibet is 40 euros, leather very durable, doesn't tear, the front bit that gets scuffed a bit is nothing.

OK, I see there's a lot more satisfied than dissatisfied, you've convinced me, looks like I just had bad luck, on a large quantity made there's of course some "defect" in between. But I still long for the old good leather gojzari, which I smeared with proper grease, then there was no moisture in them even theoretically, even after hours trudging rotten snow

I use Alpina Nepal myself. I use them in winter too, though I'm waiting for some sale to buy Teton or maybe Lhotse for that. Anyway - Nepal seems wider to me than Tibet and consequently more comfortable for my foot. I'm satisfied with it, so I recommend it. For winter it's better to impregnate it; so far it hasn't soaked me, but I believe after a few hours in really wet snow it can too. It blistered me only on the first few hikes, and that above the ankle where the shoe is laced. Yeah, I know, all praise Tibet, but Nepal suits me much better.

Alpina Lhotse is a very comfortable shoe, the sole is one of the better ones, especially grip in snow, holds very long without soaking. However, it bothers me how "sloppily" they made the rubber edging; it's so thin that after 30 km it already tore at two ends, on pairs it peeled off. I'm taking it to warranty to see how they'll fix it. I think that for such a shoe it should be a bit thicker, especially "stitched" along the edge.

boy36, same to me - at the toes and inner side where it's "stuck". I took it to repair, they did it under warranty - glued all that peeled off - let's see how long it holds ??? Yep, the solution is in stitching the rubber ends and the thing would be solved.

@smatjaz: Once Gojzar d.o.o. from Žiri made gojzarje. Website no longer available, but contact, not sure if still valid: GORJUP ANTON 04 519 19 19 ...as for Planika, it still exists Planika Turnišče. This Planika factory under the old Planika produced footwear for foreign customers, mostly for Meindl, who bought this plant and kept the production of Planika models under the Planika Turnišče brand. As for Alpina, I don't know if they're crazy or what!?! Namely, for some 15-20 years the same drama with soles or rather their gluing has been repeating... unbelievable!!!

Marco, exactly that address or contact I was looking for, so it's the right address for all with "iber" foot sizes. Planika Turnišče I know well, since I bought all previous models there. Just need to check stock beforehand and make a bit longer trip to Prekmurje and that's it.

Personally I swear by Planika. I had previous Planika gojzarje almost 10 years, so long I wore the sole to a shine, last year I bought Mangart model and I'm really really satisfied with them. Leather gets better with use, haven't blistered me yet (OK, though every shoe blisters if you wear it long enough). As for Alpina, my buddy and I had a similar experience when the sole peeled off his gojzar. It's true his stood in storage a few years, apparently it's not recommended to keep them idle too long.
