We have a goat in our village that has been living independently for 12 years in all weather conditions near our homes. Icon, I'd say. And many people's gaze walks in the morning along her usual paths. If we don't see her for two, three days, we already wonder where she's hiding and if she's still alive.

Miri, lubadar and mountain lover, it's nice that you live near forest animals. We are deprived of many connections related to life in nature in urban settlements among blocks and skyscrapers. But I somehow compensate for the desire to help animals by feeding 5 free-living cats daily and one spoiled cat at home. But seeing a roe deer, chamois, ibex.......in nature is something completely different.

This neighbor of mine will now slowly leave when conditions improve higher up. If he survives to autumn (no anthrax) he will return and then when he appears again snow will fall in a couple of days. Winter like this year made selection among animals, only the strongest remained, so now a couple of years no diseases like mange and similar.

I feel kinda bad thinking of weaker animals that have to die in winter, but that's nature. We probably shouldn't help birds overwinter either, but we don't stick to that, because we consider those species of animals particularly fragile and helpless or just appearance deceives. Everything has two sides, so this winter like this year also brings positive effects. But for destroying insects it seems to me it was only somewhat effective, otherwise long but quite mild. Lubadar, I hope your neighbor survives and predicts snow for next winter.

In nature everything is arranged as it should be, only people want to change things, but with that we only cause harm. Here near me chamois have been wintering for about 10 years. This one is not the first, obviously the location suits them. If some doesn't return in autumn, another takes its place. A few years ago in December there was no snow and no chamois either, but it is interesting that one appeared at the beginning of January when the hunting season ends.

Maybe some expert on mountain animals knows these tracks that I've seen several times in the mountains?.

Paw print with four pads without claws and no alternating moves, always the same advance as shown in the pic. Not dog, not wolf, not roe deer, chamois or fox, not bear, too big for hare...

No, Šodrovc, front paws are almost wider than the dog's.

It seemed to me, given the paw size, not a hare.Mangrt's tracks are just like those I've seen on paths around Struška, now on Planinska .
