What are conditions like in the central gully to Begunjščica?
If someone who's been up there the last days writes more, thank you for the info.

Hi,

a bit late already zadrega...We were there today, conditions are worth it. Attaching report and a couple of pics.
Tomorrow still opportunity, then the weather turns bad again...

Begunjščica via Central Couloir today. Weather great. Zelenica besieged for a reason, crowds of hikers. nasmeh Nothing special, except that my water bottle somehow opened in the backpack and spilled a liter of water inside velik nasmeh

Although new snow from last Friday is not yet settled (low temperatures), there are plenty of degrees and the ascent is not demanding. Off the trodden path it sinks in the lower part. In the gully itself the snow was super, no windblown and just right for kicking steps. No need to stick to the steps. Enjoyment!

We extended along the ridge to Begunjska Vratača. Back via Šentanec, entry through eastern branch. Snow in Šentanec completely different from Central, knee-deep powder. Hats off to the fitness of ski tourers who pushed up here. But in the middle section there was super snow for a bit of "butt sledding" down mežikanje

Gathering courage velik nasmeh all day whether to ask or better not here on the forum, if maybe someone has already been, seen or knows someone who was on winter "cramponing" these days on this route? And if so, what are the conditions?

This time I chose (as I got a bit lost in the fog) the Y couloir.

Conditions are, say, sufficient 2; in the part right before the summit precise assessment is needed and I must say it is not the most pleasant (poor base, searching for ice axe pick holds). Approach with thought where and how.

At the summit sun with unpleasant wind.

Back via central, one smaller jump where it narrows. The rest ok.

We had "luck" and saw the gloria phenomenon.
