Obviously, it was worth staying a bit lower today, as the high mountains were wrapped in clouds and fog almost all day. GBP performed well, the path was dry, the rain held off, the views were already quite nice. A few drops appeared only on the return along the road above Žingarica. In Završnica, there are quite some changes (construction projects). Obviously hurrying to plant the shovel due to the upcoming regional park declaration. I hope after that no bigger interventions will be possible.

Heinz - on the second photo you were enjoying the view from 'Vrh Peči'. On the map it is only marked as 'Smokuški vrh', which is actually the name for the saddle below it.
Cartographic errors of course should not be tolerated, it's sad that they are not corrected despite new editions, which thus root their unjustified name domicile and freely sweep away all the original heritage of our ancestors.
P.S.: We'll ask admin Tadej again for corrections also in the trip description for the mentioned peak, which besides belongs to the Kamnik-Savinja Alps, not the Karavanke (mountain range link correctly directs to KSA).

True, I personally didn't delve into names and their originality.., but I came across (heard of) quite a few different designations - explanations etc. About the so-called Sm. peak being somewhere else, where Vrh peči, Veliki vrh etc. are.
Who is competent, or whom to turn to for the right explanation, I don't know. But I do know that we also have quite a few problems in our area with the correct naming of certain locations, or that opinions are even very divided in the oldest generation..
If you look at the top of this page, you can notice that the peak or ridge is already previously correctly assigned to the mountain range to which it belongs.

Time again to visit the Brezniške peči ridge, also called Smokuški. Path dry, no mud or snow and just "cortig" as always. Views offered only from the top, called Vrh peči (also wrongly Smokuški it seems). Otherwise we cross several summits as described above and though not officially marked, unmistakable. Back circular, from top first on to the junction with the marked path to Sankaška hut, then right, right, right... and exactly at the start again out through meadows. We measured, 15 km adds up, straight line I think or however these GPS gadgets work. Not rich in height highest peak, but with path. Recommended for this time, no snake.

...Start from Završnica. Path nice, dry all the way to Smokuški vrh. Then a bit of snow to the start of the path right to the hunting hut. Nice, panoramic over valleys and peaks

Bunker above the railway tunnel is from WW2 (typical that the German army protected tunnels, e.g. from saboteurs..). The ridge is drilled at the west end for the water pipeline from Završnica lake, via penstock (pic 3), to Sava HE Moste.

I think we haven't read such a nice post about this ridge on this forum as Edina's.
It seems to me that the ridge will become more frequented thanks to her. Edina, if you want to experience your peace up there again, you'll have to write your blog more sparsely!

Ločanka, thanks, I'm afraid you're exaggerating a bit about the description. But it is really beautiful and well maintained, thanks to the hikers who go up there more often.
Majdag, I also used the route you mention for a while. Unfortunately it involves another car waiting in Begunje. But I'm glad I found a shortcut for the return and didn't have to go to Smokuška planina.

We also went along the ridge yesterday and I can confirm it's a very nice hike offering many pleasant views and dynamic walking. I'll surely return here
