My May Day one with some delay. Avrikelj is just a sample now, but the path is still enjoyable nasmeh

Majdag, we were very close again, but too far for a meeting. Your yellow sunflowers, last year's and this year's, are insanely beautiful. Hope you'll show them to us sometime. Safe trails nasmeh

Edina, this time I attached a full map of the hiked path. From the description you can also figure out where the path goes. All this to show true nature lovers something beautiful that shouldn't be forgotten. But not for the masses, as the approach isn't exactly easy. Thanks, if you want to see it just say! nasmeh

Mali vrh, Peči, Gosjak-part of GBP. Path to Mali vrh and back the same way is pleasant, just careful past rocks. Past Peči and over Gosjak is more demanding. Snow covers rocks and harder to find holds. Road to Tinčkova hut is driven on, but ice visible on ruts in places. Not for every car. Otherwise walking the winter ridge is varied and interesting. nasmeh

GBP from start above houses in Moste to descent to Begunje. Crossing the ridge isn't hard for those with stamina, as it's long. But not easy either, for someone not used to rocky terrain and climbing on it. Not to underestimate, but good intro for new mountain trips. Path is nice, trees budding and avrikelj blooming. Spring is best for this ridge. Always impresses me. nasmeh

Mali vrh and screes.. Paths and rocks wet from rain. Ridge all green from moss and dwarf pines. Path over screes great, nice trip. nasmeh

On Sunday I climbed from Završniško Lake to Mali vrh and further along the ridge to Gosjak, Jecole and Smokuški vrh.
I returned via the marked path to its junction at Kališče, continued about a kilometer on the road towards Završnica, turned left onto a forest logging trail that later turns into a good trackable traverse path towards V Štale. It descends and ascends twice from the stream gullies and joins the descent from Gosjak past Titova vas to Žingarica. From there back to the start by road.
The ridge path is dry and without special features, on the north side on descent there are some ice patches and wetter ground. Wind blew strongly at times, but it was not cold..

View southwards and to the continuation of the ridge.

It was windy, but the hand didn't shake... :-)

Bird reality show a little below Smokuški vrh :-)

At the path junction to the right I continue along the road for about a kilometre.

Path from Završnica to Smokuški vrh along this ridge is completely dry, who likes a bit of scrambling on rocks and narrow steep ridges will enjoy this path nasmeh

I have roughly described one such route (see the above description from 7.1.2020). The unmarked paths I walked are marked on the Karavanke map (central part). Good luck.

If you start in Žirovnica, you can descend from Smokuški vrh to Sveti Peter and from there to the village Rodine. Then you return to Žirovnica via villages where you see many interesting things.

Spring offers an exceptionally pleasant ramble along the ridge above Breznica, where sometimes you walk with hands in pockets, elsewhere you grip the rock properly.

The ridge is in sight of everyone traveling on the Gorenjska motorway, but few know its secrets. Due to logistics, it's best to park by the dam in Završnica and stroll along the valley gravel in the morning cool to the start of the crossing. Continuation to the starting point is enjoyable and effortless. Recommended nasmeh

There are two MHE on the path, this is the first

This is the cause, a mobile forestry cableway

On the ridge, some are looking at me sideways :)

This year I notice birdhouses everywhere. Commendable

One of the summits and also a take-off point for paragliders

The path is pleasant, mostly through forest

This one is a bit lower than Stol, but no less interesting

The water level is currently about a meter lower than usual

From Begunje to Most. Up to Sv. Peter or Smokuški vrh there were some people, on the ridge more relaxed.

Clouds made the landscape even more interesting

...and view back; clouds are already gathering

Mali vrh...Circular, up one path and down another. At the first marker the path is frozen but wide and gradually ascends. The path to Gostišče Zavrh is easier for ascent than for descent. Narrow, steep, frozen, wet snow and spikes are forming, difficult. Views wonderful, already at Brinje. Very nice.. nasmeh

Well... contrary to expectations there's not much blooming rese. But the scenic Brezniške Peči ridge is worth a visit anyway nasmeh

Today from Završnica along the lower path to the start of the ridge then along the ridge to Sv. Peter and descent to Begunje where I left the bike in the morning. jezik

Beautiful day on a beautiful path that's not too easy nor too hard, just right to stretch hands and legs. nasmeh

The whole path is normally passable and well traceable and offers superb views.

Some yesterday's snapshots from a nice excursion, hiking day starting in Zabreznica.From there along steep path towards St.Lovrenc and further to the ridge to Mali vrh.From Mali vrh we continue along the ridge to junction at the cross,where we turn to path towards Breznica and further to start.Then follows a stop in Vrba and further to Begunje for coffee.Coffee gives us new energy for another nice walk past St.Peter to Sankaška koča.
