Nice @rozka. It looks like a very panoramic summit, since the nearby Mangart, Jalovec, Triglav and others are as if on the palm of your hand. Shame that no one continues the shepherd tradition on the mentioned planina Bala. Otherwise, unfortunately, it is not the only one. LP

We ascended Briceljk and searched for interesting flowers along the way. Weather yesterday as ordered. Some pics: http://www.petersfoto.si

You're welcome, skalar50. I just wanted to avoid the crowds. And now looking at photos, I see I avoided them in a huge detour. Good luck

We set off to Bricejk (Loška stena) from Bavšica at 7:00. No clouds, no wind either. To the hunting hut (above Planina Bala) the path is pleasant and marked (marked path continues to shelter below Špička). Before the hut there is a small spring, so I recommend refilling water supplies. It spurts more than it flows from the spring, but that didn't bother us as we enjoyed the rest. We continued sharply left towards our goal. The forest path is easily traceable because the cairns are frequent. On rocks there are remnants of marks which were obviously diligently erased. At the forest exit we were greeted by sunshine and steep grasses. We followed the trail only by cairns as it was no longer visible. A bit of patience is needed to the first boulders. Later we spotted the trail on the left side and started grinding our knees again. An annoying spot on the path is crossing the small slope (left of Stador - above scree) because it is very crumbly and there is no sense trusting the grass. Mists started gathering towards the summit and we raced to see who would reach the summit first. Sadly the clouds were the winners and there were hardly any views. We didn't continue to Oltarji. Descent in fog seemed quite risky to us, so we drank beer on the summit and went straight down to the valley. On descent be careful of holes in the grass (between rocks), which can be a rather nasty experience. On the path we met only one hiker, so Bricejk is the right choice for anyone seeking a nice panoramic summit and solitude. Greetings from Koper.

Yes, reading my post from a year ago, Briceljk, well, let's go.... Because we arrived late in Bašica due to late departure from home, we boldly set off on the path, of course with Sidartin's guidebook ... and map. Here is the last water right for my dear ... eh drinker, it flows over there Below Stador plan change, since there was only 1 liter of water left, and still about 200 m elevation missing to the summit ... yeah, next time, that's true, since we had water only for one person from the start. What I want to say, conquering Briceljk really isn't easy, as you have to consider that the grasses aren't wet, it's really steep - very much so, that you have enough drink if it's a hot day, and that you start earlier than we did, ... and you really are alone on the path, nevertheless it was gorgeous. Well, if there weren't vipers again. LP!

Well, the path to Briceljk from the hunting hut and also the connecting one from Planina Bale over Prevala to Bavšica (NOT Bavščica) over Planina Bukovec were exemplarily marked years ago, then quietly abolished, overpainted on rocks and scratched off trees. On Briceljk the cairns remain, the connecting path is already completely overgrown. It was about yielding to hunters who bring foreigners here for chamois hunting, of course for good money. Hunting lobby sadly stronger than mountaineering

Zippo, regarding the hunting lobby, just this: Who was first, chamois hunter or tourist? Who retreated to whom in the last hundred years in Slovenian mountains when a myriad of hiking paths were built? The mountaineering lobby drove chamois and hunters from many corners. Example: the main paths to Triglav. Regarding good money... As long as hunting isn't private, that money goes to the society's cash desk. The society needs funds for its existence and functioning. The PDs don't give away food and drink in huts either.

@ruševec - Regarding nice money.... As long as the hunt is not private, that money is in the society's cash desk. Obviously you are not a hunter. Fees already go to the cash desk, the one who shoots the chamois gets the trophy, all the meat the hunters share among themselves. There is no hunter whom I know who doesn't have at least half a freezer of game, when asked if he bought it he just laughs.

It goes over the notch. But I don't know why you turned back (probably due to snow), when you boasted a few topics ago about how much gear you carry so nothing surprises you?

Thumbs up for the trip and second photo ... once a farmstead, today probably weekend house. How diligent and persistent people must have been to survive there.

For those who like risking, one could climb to Briceljek summit. I'm not one of them. Already on pic 14 you see it could be climbed a bit sideways, jump a bit, stretch.

No stretching, pleasant... if there is no confirming inner feeling looking at the path ahead, better not tackle it. I think you decided right, because down without gear it would be harder.
