Čemšeniška Planina

We took advantage of the nice day and went as a family along the Prvine - Čemšeniška planina path.
At the youngest's wish we also took our little four-legger nasmeh

soon a beautiful view opens towards Menina planina, Raduha and Peč

Kočna and Grintovec were also visible in the morning

On a foggy morning we park at the small parking lot below Krvavica. Snow cca. 3-5 cm. Thaw melts it fast and probably gone by end of week. Through the window it's slippery, plus you grease soles extra with red clay before entering.
In fog on top we don't linger. Better descend carefully just above precipice wall.
Continue in fog to Čemšeniška. In drifts here much more snow. Steep ascent warms us. At hut snack and soon to top. Descent quite hard. More snow on NE side, lower part muddy.
Descend to gully of Suhega potoka and just before parking back to road. Wash mud in stream and tour done after 5 hours.
Fog, wet snow, south wind, muddy and slippery.

That's as xerian wrote. I also add that they have a good medico in the hut mežikanje

Some photos from today's trip Izlake - Čemšenik - Hut on Čemšeniška planina - Črni vrh - sv. Primož - Razbor pri Čemšeniku - Izlake.
To the mountain hut it's mostly dry, higher up there's still some snow.

A bit from my angle on the tour from Izlake to the top of Čemšeniška planina-Črni vrh and back to Izlake.

It is indeed a sad sight in Izlake. There used to be wonderful Medijske toplice and this wonderful hotel next to it.

This is nowadays a disgrace of the otherwise beautiful area of Izlake.

Even Valvasor mentioned them. We let them fall into ruin.

From afar we do not know how the church looks up close.

We are heading to the highest peak of Čemšeniška planina - to Črni vrh.

These devices I have never seen in the forest before.

On the way back we go to the little church of St. Primož.

Today from Limovc to Čemšeniška and Črni vrh. Then descent to pass Gunet. From there to Krvavica and past Zajčeva hut on a looong road zadrega

over Vrhe to hut under Reško planina and into valley to car. nasmeh

Nice and fairly long tour. mežikanje

For descent from Črni vrh recommend crampons...it's icy.

Today bad weather of course, so short to SE shoulder of Čemšeniška, which in good weather draws the eye from Savinja valley due to length and size. Snow (rotten) above 900m up to 15cm. Below steep and in wet very slippery leaves/mud, higher on nice forest shoulder Krvavica showed nicely in translucent fog for long. Later weather totally wrecked, descended Presedlje in fog. Soaked to skin on such day despite poncho, but no rain nasmeh

Poor (rainy) photo - when we cross the road the second time, a nicer part of the path follows

We climb up to about 700m altitude if we take this variant

Almost exactly a year zmeden

ago with guys we debated roads under Čemšeniška. Went to terrain and did a loop from riti to varžet in these parts. We nailed theory well, no map needed anywhere. Wasn't on Čemšeniška, but part of described path useful to connect marked trails from Presedlje and Krvavica sides. Three hours flew by, Krvavica besieged like Triglav in summer, Brložen will rot till next time. lp

Somewhere on the road Presedlje - Prvine - the junction is now marked

Reminder of some crazy weather and slippery slope from a year ago

Then we emerge onto the nicest meadows around here

Then dash down to Vrhe and then leisurely along the long panoramic road back

Slopes with several thousand white beauties along the way

Krvavica is really quite visited these days. The parking lot is usually completely full. For Čemšeniška, I'm interested in these variants; we'll sort it out when we meet.
Brloženov ridge is not so lonely either...
