Zavest, we already covered this topic a while ago. They took the comparison period that suited them. Mortality has been similar to 2020 several times before, browse a bit back in this thread, statistics available from 1950 onwards. Also consider population aging, the projection for coming years is steeply rising for most EU countries just from the aging perspective. But you shouldn't look only at 2-million Slovenia, which in size is comparable say to Barcelona, you know, as they accuse me, that I shouldn't look only at my own experiences. A few days ago I saw for example the Scotland graph, where they have no excess deaths this year. And don't forget, I never denied the virus itself or claimed it contributes nothing to mortality. And that graph of yours.... go count the excess for each displayed point relative to some average value of the previous 5 years. I did that and you know what I find? That already here the official number of covid deaths and excess deaths for 2020 don't match by about a difference of 1000.

The excess mortality graph will gain weight when it's also investigated:
- how many patients died during this time due to delays in urgent cardiac-vascular, neurological, surgeries, oncology, diabetes and other diagnostics and similar outrageous delays, when doctors didn't even answer the phone
- what impact the intimidation had so that a person even decides to go to the hospital
- how many suicides there were in 2020, very unusual that after 4 months there's still no data
- what is the impact of this covid madness on mental state and thus the course of illness for example for residents of nursing homes, who weren't allowed any visits, all were scared and most of them thought everyone would die from covid anyway

A colleague has high blood pressure and takes pills for it. When he started running out, the clinic didn't respond for a week. The issue was resolved only when he called 112 and they forwarded it so he got the pills. Shame. It's right to show the real situation in healthcare without closing eyes.

Regarding your points above, I agree, but the impact of most of these causes will be seen in the coming years, a smaller part only in last year's statistics. Not everyone died immediately because of that.
As for not answering the phone, unfortunately that's nothing new. For one lousy check-up I had to call my doc endlessly until she picked up.
Not to mention my dentist (who is otherwise very good), calling him is almost like winning the lottery ...

Before in the hospital you waited hours and hours, even though you were scheduled at a certain time (of course, several were scheduled at the same time!?), now you come, wait max 15 minutes and it's your turn. And no chattering in the waiting room either, because people come exactly on time. And I don't know if it's just me, but doctors are even friendlier than before. For appointments I recommend email more. In our area it works flawlessly and fast. Regarding phone appointments, some complain. But it's understandable that it's harder to reach them by phone. They don't sit by the phone all day, but do other more useful things.
Ha, I also don't know anyone who got tick meningitis. Maybe the disease doesn't exist and some got vaccinated for nothing. But I know several cases with Lyme disease and also those who have consequences from it.
