Hi everyone, has anyone been recently from Kamniška b. to Grintovec via Talahka path (over Kokrško sedlo)? I'm interested if there are any peculiarities (I was there 3 years ago). Thanks for the reply, LP yeti

Recently went down this path from Kokrsko sedlo and no peculiarities. Went up via Taško, where very nice path - renovated, some pegs, but nothing serious. Recommend.

Hi! Interested if anyone was on Grintovec 2.9.07? What were conditions on summit and path? With buddy reached Mlinarsko sedlo at 9am, very windy there. Grintovec summit wrapped in thick fog slowly descending. Decided to turn back to Češka koča. Bitter taste remains..unconquered summit...for now. LP and luck!

Hi! Interested if anyone on Grintavec summit after recent snowfalls. Is southern path to summit now dry? What are conditions? Also, is Cojzova koča open this weekend? Thanks, lp, B.

Start: Kamniška Bistrica A much bigger problem is reaching the sedlo than from there on. Under the sedlo there is quite some snow still frozen - you need to go off the path a bit if you have no gear, just under Grintovec summit a total of 10m snow on the path and even that is soft on the sunny side. Summit 0 deg, sedlo 0 deg, start 6 deg. Met only two hikers. Soon add some pics. Nice weather forecast next days, so recommend everyone (with time) to visit Grintovec, no slip risk on snow. Won't last long.

One thing to remember. Crampons, ice axe, helmet, warm clothes are the basics for winter hiking. Of course, the rest of the gear goes in the backpack. Safe steps, wishes Franc.

On Sunday we were on Grintovec. Snow starts a bit below Kokrsko sedlo. Didn't use crampons, but good to have them in backpack anyway. Weather foggy, but near summit sun came out and we saw clouds south and open space north. Room in Cojzova koča open and quite cold

Dear all, I'm wondering if anyone happens to know what the conditions on Grintovec are like? Gully through the caves or SE ridge gully? Thanks in advance for any responses. Best, n

Personally I wouldn't head to Grintovec these days. Fog, wind and precipitation.

Last Sunday Janez and I headed to Grintovec from the lower station of the cargo cableway above Kamniška Bistrica. At first the path is bare ground, later we climbed along the track which is laid along the left smoothed cone, viewed towards the saddle. In the morning hours the path was quite okay, so it was possible to walk without crampons. Above Kokrško sedlo we soon changed into crampons, as the path continuing to the summit across Streha was slightly frozen. Towards the summit a track is made, there's some wind-blown snow, but no problems on the path. Descent went without issues (me on foot, Janez skied down from the top), from the saddle to the valley though tough. Because I walked past the track following traces of some predecessors and since the snow was completely crusted, I sank deeply over the knees. Descent I did along the neighboring smoothed tongue like the ascent, last 20 minutes the path is bare. Best Andrej

Best Solido! I fully agree with you that current conditions can be posted online right away. If you ever read my descriptions you'll see I always do that, this time it wasn't possible due to force of circumstances, but I hope everyone knows conditions can change quickly and must always be monitored. I took no offense.

LP - has anyone gone to Grintovec at night and waited for sunrise? How much time do you need for the ascent to the summit in winter conditions from the lower cableway station to Kokrško sedlo? Are gaiters, crampons, and an ice axe needed? Thanks for possible answers.

LP - the questions are in place, because this winter we haven't been much in the mountains so I'm mainly interested in current conditions up there. Otherwise I have quite some mileage behind me.... "Pikec" thanks for the advice.
