Obviously I can't do without this tempting mountain, as I've been up there four times this year. Escape from the valley fog and great conditions in the mountains made my day today. Dry below, thickly covered with leaves, snow starts above the bench, with an extra centimeter every five meters up to the forest exit. Higher up, all the scree is under snow, the path to the saddle quite tricky. From there on pure pleasure, as there's only one beaten path if you stick to it smile

The roof has too little snow, so no straight glissade, but it was slightly windy on it. Just behind the summit I settle in the lee, if I had a deckchair, I'd probably run out a bit, as gloves were unnecessary too. I meet about a dozen like-minded folks, including one young lady and two paragliders. Down via Izi, I plunge into fog well before Stahovica.

They built the hut in the most unfavourable place, since in winter it doesn't see the sun.

Fortunately I have as much to do with huts as with Japanese yen.

Left Peca, in the middle Skuta, right Ojstrica

Košuta, in front of Stegovnik the landmark of the path to Kočna.

Storžič is almost in vaser vago with it (and Košuta).

Primata of Savinjskih Alps and small peaks of Turska gora and Brane.

Turska gora with hut at Kamniško sedlo and bivouac below Skuta, and three hikers (a lady and two gentlemen whom we parked with below).

Exceptional visibility. Rogljica is also nicely recognizable.

I hope this won't be fatal for anyone else before the trail markers do something.

The second paraglider is already in the air too.

Conditions today excellent. Start early morning, frozen snow at around 1500m. For the way back not so nice smile

. People went to the top even with those small spikes on their feet, no problems.

Now they've classified the path V koncu - Cojzova koča as difficult and time 2.30h.

Now there's again a sign prohibiting traffic to the parking at V Koncu sad

Hi, thanks for the description. Is the path V koncu -> Cojzova koča, now marked as difficult, changed somehow and runs differently than before when it was marked as easy? So I know for summer when I'll hike there smile

Right after the forest exit a storm took away part of it and it's rerouted a bit to the right of the previous one. About 150m. Anyway, it doesn't represent greater difficulty.

Aha thanks. So that should be that new section of the path that they made this summer around that washed-out part. When I was there this summer they were just starting to cut the scrub and I was still crawling up through the gully pulling myself by the scrub with my hands nasmeh

If that's the only change, it's a bit strange that now they've marked the path as difficult (on maPZS it's still marked as easy). Apart from that broken path part I never needed to use my hands.

Path to Grintovec from Kamniška Bistrica - no cheating. big

To be honest even with a detour, as I was so lost in thought that at the bend I forgot to "turn off" and suddenly found myself on Jermanca. eek

Then nicely back and to the right side. smile

Snow is just a sample, really starts around the bench or higher. Crampons on at forest exit when I bite into the steep under the saddle. Roof also very poor in snow. Wind was quite strong and in places no tracks/gaz, as wind drifted it. But with so little snow, no problem.

Some probably ruined their beautiful day and expensive parking on return. I don't understand why extra 15-20 min walk is a problem, since you don't go to Grintovec at the limit of ability.

On Tuesday I parked above the hut at eight. To my surprise there was already some tin there. Road higher up icy, path to saddle trodden and hard, but went without crampons too. Higher I head towards Dolgi Steni and pull my own spur. At the summit very cold and windy, so we quickly head down with the only other visitor. Half an hour lower much better, lounged for a solid hour. Lower to saddle still in sunshine, then descent back into the dark.
Not much snow, but mostly, according to the temperatures, held all day.

Sunday ski tour to Grintovec via Jame. Well, not skiing via Jame... there on foot up velik nasmeh

Then skiing over the roof and through Lower Jame towards Taška... as far as it goes, i.e. to the former hut.
Conditions generally good, not quite ideal though. Overall super satisfied with the tour velik nasmeh

No, it's not, from Lower to Upper Jame there's a logical passage, then the gully towards the Roof quickly appears.

Some more info on ski touring descent from Grintovec.
Above Taška proper snow starts. In the morning it's hard, crampons are useful, but the sun softens it quickly. Plenty of snow still. The Roof is covered but windblown. So rocks will appear soon. For skiing you shouldn't be too early. Timing is important. Today around 12 it was excellent. If too hard or icy, I don't trust the pins very 'enthusiastically'.
