Opening a new topic - pensioners' hikes

Today the pensioners of PD Škofja Loka did a hike from Zlato polje through the village Šmiklavž. Then follows the village Tirošek. After a good hour and a bit more we arrive in the village Nova Štifta. Here we view the interesting church. It was open. We continue towards the Črnivec pass. We walk past farms and livestock. At the farm Toman the macadam starts and the marked hiking trail. Up to here we hiked on the thematic path. In a good two and a half hours we were at the Črnivec pass. Here at the guesthouse was the end of our hike. In the guesthouse they kindly serve a hot snack. At the guesthouse there is even a vending machine with dairy products.

Yesterday with Četrkovci - the best group of Škofja Loka retirees of PD Škofja Loka along the border river Kolpa roughly from the village Žuniči to the village Pulga. The path along Kolpa took four hours. It is well marked, also secured in places. At high water this path is not possible. It leads past characteristic outbursts - sources along Kolpa, past the museum mill. It is mostly flat, it also leads past the bathing area on the Kolpa shore with a guesthouse.
Along the Kolpa - from the village of Žuniči to the village of Purga.1
In Žuniči there is Šokčev dvor - a museum.2
3
I peeked into the yard of the homestead - to visit, you need to register.4
Visit to the Orthodox church of St. Peter and Paul.5
Here was the Military Border - in the 15th and 16th centuries, settlers from the south guarded the border of the Habsburg monarchy.6
They opened the church for us - it is beautiful.7
We arrived in the village of Miliči.8
Then along the Kolpa on the marked path.9
The river landscapes do not disappoint.10
A bit magical.11
We walk along it for three hours.12

We go along the Castle Path.22
We come across a secured path again.23
We have arrived at the mill-museum. To visit the mill, one must register in advance.24
25
The mill has been rebuilt several times.26
There is a pleasant inn by the mill.27
We finished the tour of the Kolpa and went to the village of Podbrežje.28
Here are the ruins of the tower castle.29
30
Some buildings of the castle are still intact and even in use.31
We often take too little care of our history.32
In the village of Purga, our multi-hour path ended at the southernmost tip of our beloved Slovenia.33

Again posting a hike for retirees. We did this already on 12.07.2021. Within PD Škofja Loka we have two groups. This path represents the less trodden one. We combined somehow two groups - Ponedeljkovci and Torkovci, who are now called Polžki. We combined the tours for both groups and carry them out together. We separate at the starting points. Polžki walk more on the flat and shorter. Thus we satisfy all retirees who are still eager for hikes in nature and thus discover hidden corners of our homeland. For Ponedeljkovci we chose the path - Veliki Lipovec - Frata - Mirna. The hike lasts four hours of moderate walking - of course with three breaks in between.

We drive past Žužemberk, where we stop at the castle for morning coffee. The castle is open and worth seeing - I highly recommend it. Then we drive to the village Veliki Lipovec. From there across the village Brezova reber through the forest to the mountain hut Frata. When the forest ends we are in front of the village Dolenji Globodol. Then follows a bit of gravel macadam slightly uphill to the village Golobinjek. At the cute little church it goes down again through the forest to the settlement Mirno and the pleasant path is concluded. The path goes a bit down, a bit up - not too demanding for our worn-out retirees. Mostly we are aged 65-80 years. We don't give up!

On 14.10.2021 we Četrkovci went to Bela krajina for a hike - Castle path along Kolpa.

The drive to the starting point in the village Žuniči takes quite a while. So at the starting point it is worth seeing Šokčev dvor. You need to announce for a visit. Follows the hike to the village Pavnoviči - this is a Serbian Uskoci village. We went across the hamlet Vidnjeviči to the village Miliči. On the hillock is the Orthodox church of St. Peter and Paul. We arranged a visit. Now follows a long hike along the border river Kolpa to Podbrežje. It goes past the bathing area of the Kolpa river, past the museum mill. From the mill we climb past the castle, which is sadly mostly in ruins. The mill and castle are part of our heritage from WW2. Thus we somehow concluded our five-hour hike. The conclusion was in the pleasant restaurant Stajdohar in Kanižarica. If we are in these parts, we visit it regularly - I recommend it.

We go on towards the Kolpa River.10
11
We reach the river - there are already markings of the Castle Trail along the Kolpa.12
The river flows calmly and says nothing.13
The path is nicely laid out along the river.14
In places it is also protected with wooden railings.15
Characteristic are the outbursts - actually springs that flow into the Kolpa river.16
At the bathing area by the Kolpa river with a guesthouse.17
18
Follows again a secured path.19
Views of the river will not disappoint us.20
At the mill-museum, you need to register for the visit.21
22
There is also a guesthouse at the mill.23
Let's go on.24
Above the river are the remains of a once mighty castle.25

Yesterday the Škofja Loka retirees drove to the Dolenjska wine hills - precisely to Malkovške gorice. They are named after that village. It is beautiful in the time before St. Martin, who is celebrated on 11 November, when must turns into wine. Nature at this time slowly colors into November colors. Chestnuts can already be found on the ground - we also picked some.

We started in the village Tržišče. Some time on asphalt, some time on forest paths, on meadow paths. Partly on marked paths, also on unmarked ones. We came across the marked Upper Dolenjska wine road with stamps. Our leaders always go on reconnaissance and find the most pleasant path - they also inquire about the path from local hiking associations. We wouldn't get lost in these wine hills, but we always need to somehow get back to the vehicle. If you go by bus it is of course easy, because it can pick us up where we want. We went through several villages, so I always photograph the settlement signs.

We walked about four hours.

Yesterday the Škofja Loka pensioners went to Kras. The autumn hike took place from the village Veliki Dvori to Gradež. The highest point of the hike was Gradež - only 507m high. The hike lasted about four hours and the highest point Gradež was somehow a bit past the middle of the path.

Veliki Gradež is a 507m high hill located between Zazid and Movraž. The summit is located in the middle of vast pastures. Here a nice view opens up on the endless Primorska hills and mountains. The main attention was, of course, on the sumac, which at this time is acquiring a red color in all shades.

Dvori are located on the extreme edge of the Podgorski Kras above the dry valley called Movraška Vala. Nearby is the border crossing Sočerga. Actually, it is a hamlet with 17 houses. It belongs to the municipality of Koper.
We have arrived in the village Dvori.1

We are already in blooming spring and Škofja Loka pensioners don't rest. We stroll around beautiful Slovenia and discover less known places.

This time we went near municipality Rogaška Slatina. We visited Sv. Ema above Olimje. We strolled around there for three whole hours.
We started from here.1
Of course we always go a little our own way.2
That's why we walk on unmarked forest paths, you just need to know them.3

Yesterday we admired narcissus completely at the other end of Slovenia - in Kočevsko. We drove through Ribnica to Kočevska Reka. From Kočevska Reka we go past the lake on the Kočevska plain path to the place Borovec. Here starts the thematic trail - Following the narcissus tracks. The trail is marked with white narcissus and info boards with descriptions of sights. On it one walks more than two hours. It crosses the slope, at the end follows a steep descent to the narcissus meadow. So we learn 600 years of history of the Kočevarji, forest reserve Krokar. For the end we drove to Osilnica.

Over little bridge then into gorge of river Martuljek to see Lower Martuljek Waterfall. Waterfall is really majestic. Trail was a bit slippery-great caution applied.
