DU Britof-Predoslje we went by train from Kranj via Ljubljana to Ribnica and then on a hike to the only Cavers' Hut in Slovenia - at least they told me. On marked and unmarked forest paths we reached the right goal. That fitter group went with help of local guide Romanan to Sv. Ana. I led the less fit to the Cavers' Hut. In the hut we had a hot snack - local snack - Trojka - plus half a sausage. At the hut Francetova cave. They have also some farm animals - donkeys, Vietnamese pig. While waiting for the train we viewed Ribnica - Ribnica Castle, Hall of Fame, Craft Center Ribnica - it was interesting.
We arrived in Ribnica by train. The local hiking guide awaited us here.1

Yesterday pensioners PD Škofja Loka section Thursdays went on a long hike to Medvedovo Brdo. That's Notranjska near Logatec - but not that close. It's a pleasant more walk than real hike in nature between meadows, through forest, past lonely hamlets, partly also on Medvedova circular path. We started in Rovte village, turned to steep forest path above quarry, across forest and meadow to Žibrše village. Stopped at Tumlet farm for coffee. Path was partly marked. Turned into forest past several points of Medvedova circular path - Čebelji pogled, Medvedova klopca. Visited chapel Sv. Katarine. We had agreed for a visit and they kindly unlocked it. Went past educational center for extracurricular activities. At two prominent higher points windmills with directions drawn to all sides of the sky. Path ended in Trata village at inn Tavžentroža. There is also a boundary stone. From there road continues to Logatec. We had a local mountain guide who knows all local marked and unmarked paths well. It was really nice, nice weather, lots of meadow and forest flowers. At the end good hot snack in inn Tavžentroža - highly recommend.

On Monday -10.07.2023 we retirees from PD Škofja Loka Monday section conquered Pohorje. It turned out a bit differently than planned. With a big bus we arrived at Ruška koča on Areh. There the less fit got off and went with the guide to Žigartov vrh. It's poorly marked. Apparently they got a bit lost. In Ruška koča they then waited for the rest of the group to return for a warm snack. The others drove on a nice gravel road to the path intersection in Šumik. Just 15 minutes further is the koča in Šumik. Over the stream there are benches for rest. Here is the start of the path to Šumik waterfalls. On the other side you go to Žigartov vrh. Unfortunately as the main guide I led the group elsewhere-of course by mistake. From Žigartov vrh to Šumik I did a reconnaissance a week ago, back to Ruška koča I returned by road, which was definitely wrong and apparently I didn't remember the descent to Šumik well. We walked on marked and unmarked paths, got back a bit because we were looking for marks on trees. We walked a good four hours in pleasant shade, coolness, without annoying stuffiness. We came out of the forest at the snowmaking basin of the ski slope at Pri Treh Kraljih and saw they are apparently making the fifth ski slope. Actually the ski resort on Veliki vrh-1347m-belongs to the southern part of Bistriško Pohorje. We descended to the hotel and called the bus. Of course back to Ruška koča we did quite a few extra km that weren't planned. The remaining group had already been waiting more than an hour and they served us mushroom soup with buckwheat dumplings and cracklings-for 8 euros. The soup is really excellent -I recommend it.

Yesterday we Pondeljkovci -retirees group PD Škofja Loka hiked a bit in Slovenia, a bit in Italy and finally conquered Debeli rtič.Start was Lazaret, then in Italy to Milje, through Čampore village, to Kolombar, over Jurjev vrh, through Resljev gaj, across vineyards and olive groves to the cliff of Debelega rtiča.It is hiked on marked paths, this time there was also some mud, in places sinking almost to the ankles. The border is guarded only by Italians. On our side of border crossings there are no Slovenian policemen.Weather was nice, sea calm-we spent a nice sea autumn day.

After about a year we retirees PD Škofja Loka section Četrkovci went again on known paths above Ajdovščina -on Vertovče paths. We went on the path on purpose on Thursday, because on Sunday there is the classic annual hike and it will be crowded. We went on the marked path-it takes a good six hours. Start is in Ustje -95m asl by the Jevšek stream, which is currently quite watery. The path then took us to Dolenje village. In between we view the church of Sv. Marjete.Follows Planina village. Then some of us even went to Ostri vrh. Then across Gaberje village. Finally we arrived at the central village of the path-Šmarje.We arranged a visit to the boutique winery -Vinarstvo Poljškova brajda.I highly recommend the visit-advance reservation needed. Then follows the hike across Vrtovče and Tevče villages and back to start.

On Saturday 18.11.2023 I went with PD Rašica Ljubljana on a beautiful trip -actually a real tour in our Slovenian Istria.Start was in Sočerga village and continues to Sokoliči village. It is hiked on poorly trodden paths-hardly visible.Cross the Reka stream several times.Well, finally arrived in Sokoliči village and continued towards the beautiful Veli Vir waterfall. Somehow yellow marks on trees accompany us on the path.Again we cross the stream. With higher water the crossing would be a bit delicate.then we spot the Venetian defense tower from 15th century. Here we have a half-hour break.Along the ridge above the tower we go to Starci village and down to the gorge to see the highest waterfall in Istria -Stranice. Unfortunately now there's little water-pity.Then we descended to Trebeše village. Here we had the end in a boutique winery and rang the bell at the village church for luck. The hike lasts about four hours with breaks. The hike should be planned around September, beginning of October, when there's not too much water and paths are no longer so overgrown. We discovered this wild pristine world of Istria away from city hustle and mad world. We forgot daily troubles and simply enjoyed. Not recommended to discover alone. Even the main guide got a bit lost on reconnaissance.
Start in Sočergi.1
At this ošrarija (unfortunately closed) we turn onto the road and go down it for a while.2
Our vehicle was Nered transport.3
We go a little downhill on asphalt.4
From the main road we soon turn left.5
Direction to village Sokoliči - 1.5 km.6
At the beginning the path is nice and grassy.7
Then through the forest on poorly trodden little paths.8
We cross the Reka stream several times.9

We arrive at the Beneški defensive towers.22

We go further along the ridge.27
We go to the village Starci.28

Today my colleague and I took the Medvode retirees on the Kosovel path from Sežana to Tomaj. But really, I had trouble finding where the path starts in Sežana. Somehow with help of locals I found the start of the path. Immediately turn onto a forest path, which is nicely marked. We walk on the slope of Tabor hill. The path goes through Šmarje village and through Križ village. After about three hours of walking with breaks of course we spotted Tomaj village. In the village we have two churches and as many as six wine cellars. We also found Kosovel homestead. For visit need to book. We concluded the pleasant tour in Postojna at Erazmus restaurant.

There are no problems at all regarding the start of the path in Sežana.
The path starts at the old salt pan and is marked along the way with exactly the same sign as in picture 15. Further on we go through the square by the church, here too the mountaineering sign is well visible and there's another one below at the start of the path, where the path past the house continues into the forest, which is in picture 1.
The path is excellently marked throughout and signposted with mountaineering signposts.
Of course, it all looks (more exotic) if the article is "equipped" with a comment on how much effort one has to put into certain things, here it's searching for the (very well marked) start of the Kosovel path in Sežana and its (very well) marked end in Tomaj.
So come to Kras some more - and preferably get in touch with some guide from PD Sežana...

Yesterday we retirees of UD Britof-Predoslje went on a hike along the Slovenian coast. We actually walked half of the Slovenian coast - somewhere from 15 to 20 km. First time I walked along the newly arranged Andrejev canal. You walk quite a while on wooden deck. In between there are made exits that are not yet fully made. We also walked past cute little houses on the coast that stand on some kind of floats - interesting. We went through Piran and along the coast - the bank is now safe and you nicely walk to Fiesa and from there on quite steep asphalt to the nearby parking. We had the conclusion in Postojna at Erazmus inn. Excellent service - I recommend!

Judging by the pictures you parked in Seča not in Piran and walked along the coast to the saltpans in Strunjan. Your "Andrejev canal" is called St. Jernej canal or Jernej canal.

Yesterday we were on reconnaissance for Četrkovci - retirement group PD Škofja Loka. We will conquer Istria waterfalls. We drove to Sočerga village. There is start for two waterfalls - Veli Vir and Stranice. Last year I went on recce of these waterfalls with PD Rašica Ljubljana and liked it, so I put this tour in program for Škofja Loka Četrkovci. We decided to do circular. In Sočerga village we turned to circular a bit higher than turn to marked path to waterfalls. It's unmarked path on old cart tracks in forest - we had luck not to stray. At end reach Trebeše village and from there to marked path to first waterfall - Stranice. Waterfall has little water - nothing more than last autumn. Lower waterfall Veli Vir is gorgeous. About 10 m high, nicely wide and falls into beautiful pool. Total about five hours walk. I lead this on 15 February.
These signs are at the parking lot in Sočerga. Polek is that inn that has been closed for some time.1

Group Sredinci, hikers gathered from all winds, most from Domžale and Mengeš area, on pre-holiday day hiked above Žirovnica Cultural Heritage Trail. From Begunje to Gora, where friendly sacristan opened St. Peter church for us. Past sledge hut towards Rodine on Julijana, but before them up to path under Brezniške peči ridge, up to St. Lovrenc chapel – some preferred waiting in warm sun at cross; then on to portal of old Završnica power plant, across ridge to north side, above Završnica stream through small tunnel back to sun and to Žirovnica. Warm, almost spring, with teloh, wood sorrel, blooming hazels and satisfied hikers – enough for perfect day. 10 km, 620 m up and little less down we walked.

Today Pondeljkovci-retirement group PD Škofja Loka conquered Tinjan from Dekani. Before the church in Dekani the bus dropped us off. Then we started on the right path first to Golem vrh and then across the lower part of Tinjan village to the gentle path to the upper part of Tinjan village. It goes past houses on asphalt and at the end of the houses turns right to the marked gentle cross path above the settlement to the upper part of Tinjan village. The path is not too hard, it is really a bit rocky. It was dry, so it did not slip. In about one hour we reached the top of the village at the St. Michael's chapel. It was even possible to peek into the church. Then on the other marked path back to the lower part of Tinjan village. From there on the marked path past the waterfall to the starting point in Dekani. The path to the waterfall is quite steep, muddy, slippery. Above the waterfall there is a wooden footbridge. Water falls over the clogged sill about six meters lower. There is not much water. Question if it has any water in summer. Then you are quickly on the olive groves and in Dekani itself. The weather partly served us. We got only light drizzle on the path to the upper part of Tinjan village. The views from the top of Tinjan to the Gulf of Trieste did not disappoint us. There was a whole big bus of us.

Today with DU Medvode on a sea hike around Debeleg rtič. We drove right across the border to Italy-more precisely to Lazaret (Lazzaretto). Through the village Čampore (Chiapore) we crossed the border and were back in Slovenia. Followed the village Kolomban (Colombano), then the village Barižoni (Barisoni). We were supposed to go to Jurjev vrh, but we skipped it. We continued across Resljev gaj on the right path. From there we descended through vineyards and olive groves right to the sea-past Valdoltra hospital. Finally we were at the water. We enjoyed in clear weather the views of the slightly choppy sea. Several large container ships were waiting at sea to take their turn for unloading in the Koper port. Then across the rocky coast we headed to the start of Debeleg rtič. We decided not to go around the cape along the narrow rocky coast, but instead climbed up the quite steep asphalt road to the top parking lot and from there drove to Postojna to Erazmes for a deserved hot snack. It was beautiful weather, we sniffed sea smells and promised to come explore this farthest corner of Slovenia again sometime.
Since I was leading the group and had to watch carefully not to stray anywhere, not many pictures were taken.1
