Brane, it's a shame, you put all pensioners' trips under this title. This loop is suitable for all, regardless of age. We don't divide tours by age. I recommend this one more, easier to follownasmeh

I agree with Ločanka. Some forum topics have completely died out. Nice to read something new...and get new trip ideas, ...though I'm here less and less too. nasmeh

Bukovski vrh on Šentviška plateau.

This time we went to a somewhat remote area near Cerkno. From Cerkno we drove to Reko settlement. Above Reko turn right towards Lahorn village. Before the village turn left to steep, winding road to Police village. From there the better group started towards Bukovski vrh. The less fit drove a bit higher and walked the whole way to meeting the better group on asphalt. I led the less fit. Better group walked on paths that you need to know well. Bukovski vrh is also a scattered hill settlement of several more isolated farms. We didn't go down to Bukovo settlement. Better part of group continued to another hill, there I joined them. From that hill locals led us closer to our bus on unmarked hidden paths. We wouldn't manage alone. Waiting for us was deserved snack in inn in Log, where there's a memorial room of doctor Franja.

Last week I went with pensioners' group DU Medvode on guided trip to Slovenske gorice. For breakfast we drove to farm Šenveter. Then to village Zgornji Dražen vrh to ethnological exhibition at collector Leopold Methans, who is also metal designer artist. He creates wonderful artworks, exhibits them in his museum and got many awards. Here we had wine tasting from Šenveter farm. Followed visit to park by Mura, where exhibited found oak found in Mura bed. Stopped by Hrastovec castle. Of course didn't miss ferry ride on Mura. Visited also in village Zgornja Velka church of Snow Mary, where second most desired Slovenian soul shepherd dr. Boštjan Lenart welcomed us. End of unforgettable day was lunch at Šenveter farm.

We're back in action Četrkovci - retirees' group of PD Škofja Loka. This time we headed to the little-known world of Baška grapa. That's the area below Črna Prst between Podbrdo and Huda Južina. Start was in Znojile village. We turned into the Ravtar stream gorge to Prangarjev mill. Continued to Stržišče village past St. Ožbolt church and Doma Duhovnosti. Then we reached Kal village. The Juliana trail passes there too. Then along an unmarked ridge path to Kuk village. We also viewed Driselpoh gorge. There's a farm of the same name where no one lives permanently. It was very interesting. We walked about four hours. The ground was mostly wet, slippery. It would be worth repeating this trail in summer in dry weather. Behind the farm there's a nice waterfall, which will come another time.

Yesterday a bit to the Adriatic - more precisely to the beautiful hinterland of Trieste, specifically a hike from Štivan to Sesljana. We started at the source of Europe's shortest river Timava - according to some claims that's not true. It has several sources that connect into a quite watery and wide river. Interesting is for example the main source at the church of St. John the Baptist. They built a new church in Štivan on the other side of the road called St. Ivan Krstnik - above the road and it looks like the bell tower is separate from the main church building. We didn't go to see it up close. We walked along the Timava river. We passed the church of St. John from Tuba, but I didn't photograph it. Nor did I photograph the WWI military monument. Through the fishing settlement we reached Devin. Here is a beautiful and large marina. There's also the church of St. Mark. So we arrived in Devin - here is the church of the Holy Spirit. Devin Castle was inaccessible to us. It's owned by a rich family. I don't know if visits are allowed. So we slowly reached the starting point of the Natural Regional Reserve Devinske stene, where the Rilke Path runs. The path is routed attractively high on the cliffs high above the cliffs. Views of the sea below are fascinating. You can see mussel and fish farms. Soon we spot the marina and Sesljan itself. Finish was in Nova Gorica at the Vrtnica restaurant.

Christmas and New Year's are approaching, but you still need to go a bit into nature. Now is the time for short walks near our homes.

More than twenty years have passed since I last went from Grad village near Cerklje on Gorenjska along the marked forest path to the junction where the asphalt road turns left to pleasant Stiška vas. Left takes us in a couple of bends to Škerjančevo. The last houses in Stiška vas are farms Škerjanc and Dobovičnik. Opposite is a settlement of weekend houses - over ten of them and a couple of families with children live there permanently. Unfortunately a few weekend houses were even sold to foreigners. In Grad village we drive past once successful guesthouse, which unfortunately has been abandoned for a couple of years. Shame - on weekends you could hardly get a free table because of skiers returning from Krvavec. And they had parking for fifty cars. Just about a hundred meters behind the guesthouse the road turns right towards Šenturska gora and Ambrož pod Krvavcem. Right at the beginning of the road on the left starts the footpath to Stiška vas. Before the road was built this was the only access from Cerklje direction to Stiška vas and then to villages on the other side - Raven, Apna, Šenturska gora. Of course there was always access to these mountain villages also from Kamnik direction. To these villages they came from Cerklje with farm carts. I didn't know when they equipped the path with Way of the Cross stations. In between there's a chapel standing for a long time. After halfway snow starts and there's more and more. From the junction for Stiška vas there's no other way than by road to the end of Stiška vas at Škerjančevo. It's nice here. In good weather you see everything from Julian Alps, Nanos and to the right Stožic. I went back by road. Up and down took me about three hours and I enjoyed the beautiful winter idyll and wonderful views.
The start of the path is here on the left side of the road leading further towards the villages below Krvavec.1
Already right at the start of the path, the first station of the Way of the Cross surprises me. I don't know when they made it.2
Here there is no winter yet.3
After the fourth station of the Way of the Cross we reach the chapel.4
It is a marked path. The markers have already faded considerably.5
After the twelfth station of the Way of the Cross we find ourselves in winter.6

The retirees of UP Medvode also had their final hike today, from the retirees' home to the nearby Medanski hrib and then descent to Golo Brdo village to the Bornes inn. It's an unmarked but well visible path to the top. Down you soon descend to some cart track that leads almost to the Bormes inn. It was nice. Probably nice also when snow falls. Locally it was a bit muddy of course, but that didn't spoil the pleasant undemanding hike suitable for everyone who wants to escape the city hustle a bit.
The gathering was in front of the society's seat in Medvodah.1

We pensioners or as we say at home retirees don't give up. I as a mountain guide work in three pensioners' associations. In my home association-Britof-Predoslje we set to do one hike every month. In these three months at the start of the year we hike to Primorska, where there is no snow. Yesterday we went hiking on the Slovenian Mountain Trail and the European Footpath from Škofij to Koper. We walked a good four hours and covered 18 km of path. Because many fit folks can do it. The path was dry, no mud. The path is marked, but needs scouting, which our main guide always does up to ten days before the trip. So the bus brought us to the start in Spodnje Škofije. Soon views to Koper with the area open up. We walk past olive groves and vineyards. Then to Hrvatine and the path goes a bit uphill to the highest point of our path and we see Trieste. From there we descend to Ankaran and from there past Škocjan Bay to Koper. We always find an established inn at the end of the path for likof. This time the restaurant Emonec - highly recommend!

Every month we have one excursion around our beautiful Slovenia. Already in February we head to the sea again - Koper - Strunjan. Then follow monthly: Stari Tabor - Kokoš, Pokljuka - planina Zajamnik, Resovna - Šentjur, Bohinj - korita Mostnice, Vršič - Sleme, Sv. Lovrenc - Kozje, Trdinov vrh, Ribnica - Sv. Ana, Blegoš - if not too much snow, end of 2023 sea again - Strunjan - Sečovlje. I can say we always have a waiting list for our hikes.
We arrived in Spodnje Škofije.1
If I hadn't photographed the house numbers on the houses, I wouldn't know where we are walking.2
We cross the road and proceed along the marked Slovenian mountain path and European footpath from Škofi to Koper.3

The path is well marked.5

We encounter persimmon trees.7
We walk past olive groves and vineyards, Koper visible below.8
Even at the bends you know where to turn.9
There is some incline nevertheless.10
We have arrived in Hrvatine.11
We reached the highest point of our hike and sighted Trieste.12
Now we go downhill towards Ankaran.13
Ankaran.14
Fire station in Ankaran - some of them regularly hide from me.15
In the gardens there is plenty of vegetables from radicchio to endive. This is a lesser-known vegetable - cardoon.16
We also walked along the Bebler mountain path.17
These should be the markers of this path, if I'm not mistaken.18
To the center of Koper past Škocjanski Inlet.19
Several species of birds were visible.20
We arrived at Koper bus station.21
We concluded the hike in a pleasant ambience at Emonec restaurant - recommended.22

Today Škofja Loka pensioners PD Škofja Loka - Mondays set off to less known places where they filmed movie On Our Own Land. We started in Grahovo settlement and through quite demanding forest terrain arrived at Temeljine settlement. We continued to Kneža settlement. There we split into two groups. The fitter - also larger - group went down the gorge past beautiful waterfalls to the main road. I with the less fit went down the asphalt to Kneža village. We also visited Driselpoh gorge and viewed that wonderful gorge and also the stream waterfall. Weather was nice, we enjoyed pristine nature where not many people go.
