Bobo, get the original Kayland spray. They sell it at Kibuba. I've done a few trips, true I used the whole can for some shoes. Sprayed them 2x. Even after three evening trips in snow they didn't let water in, plus I stepped in a 20 cm deep stream, and they didn't soak. Try it. Regards Andrej

Hello!
-time for new mountaineering boots has come
Looked at Alpine offer - Yukon and Tibet, some other makers too
Interested in your experiences, use and your suggestions (i.e. what you use).
Checked some old threads - but opened new anyway.
Thanks for answers and comments.
Greetings from Koroška nasmeh

I'm not a boot expert, but I know something about them. Given the large selection, it's first important to find the right boot last for your foot. Brands Meindl, partly Lowa, Garmont are wider. Height is also important in the heel area. Others for narrower feet: La Sportiva, Scarpa, Fitwell, Asolo. I've found that even top brands' quality drops somewhat in the lower price range, so better to choose a somewhat pricier model. The boot must have up to 1 cm of space at the heel when toes reach the front wall. It must not squeeze width-wise. All boots are good; ultimately, the purchase decision comes down to feel, model, and price.

Thanks, viharnik. I'm just buying boots right now, and I have a somewhat wider foot, so this will help with the choice. nasmeh

Let me share my experience buying boots. I have foot size 46 and it's not easy to find a good, quality hiking boot or gojzar. I checked many brands (Garmont, Millet, Lowa, Alpina...), in the end I chose La Sportiva and the Karakorum GTX Pro model, expensive boot but worth every cent after the first hike. 4-season boot for walking in the hills with the option to attach automatic crampons. Best purchase (in my opinion) that I've made this year. http://www.lasportiva.com/catalogue/catalogo.php?cat=1&cod3=849&Language=EN

good luck with the choice

Check out Terro, where they are clearing out other brands and have 50% discounts on very high-quality Reichel boots. Of course, if anything is left. I found winter ones online in LJ and then tried them on and bought them in MB.

I got ASOLO BROAD PEAK GV for high mountains. I have size 46 and flat feet, so I got a heavy boot that fits me right. While at it: Viharnik, this ASOLO model isn't even that narrow compared to some Scarpa. Otherwise, I recommend Alpina. Affordable boots price-wise, I had them before and wouldn't trade them for anything in the world. And there are a few more aspects: boot maintenance, what you'll hike with them (high mountains, hiking,...).
At Alpina they even have 3D foot scanning, where they recommend boots based on your foot model. Scanning is free. How useful it is, I don't know, since I haven't tried it nasmeh Otherwise, take your time when buying. Better more than less. Even if that means 1 hour in the shop with boots on your feet, better than 1 hour of suffering in the mountains. Good luck with the choice from me too.

Hello!

In Hervisu I bought new La Sportiva Cermis boots and went for the first time with them to Kališče under Strožič... they blistered me badly in the front and back, so I think I bought too small ones, do they need to be one size bigger than the real foot size for enough space in the boot?? When I descended I noticed at home that the insole had fallen out of one boot and was all crumpled, is this a reason for a complaint or can I simply replace it, if someone recommends one? Thanks for the opinions

I have Meindl Air Revolution 2.0, first hike with them (except walking in shop) was Špik, over Kačji greben, down via Krnica. No blisters (also later never), foot rested, no pains at all. Next ones will absolutely be the same!

I'm looking for Lowa Cevedale but in Promontana they don't have size 9 or 9.5 only smaller. Do they sell them maybe somewhere else in Slovenia?

I can't decide which boots to buy for glacier walking (MtB) and now on snow (winter ascents). Any suggestions with experiences?

In Terri (terra-sp.si) they have 50% off on Raichle footwear due to discontinuation/change of name to Mammut. Call to see if they have any sizes left.

I'd praise above all Alpina-TETON, very satisfied especially strong comfortable, maybe not so light compared to others but I feel safe step and boot behaves so even after two seasons. Price 185€ discount on mountaineering ID, if you know active guy, rescuer, marker then even better up to -30%. LP

Tried quite a few boots but none fit my foot. Yesterday tried in Pohodnik Meindl Matehorn GTX. Fit like made to measure. Bit pricey 299€. Today ordered via dealer for 190€. Have special crampon system. Instead of front toe bail they have hole. Anyone experience with these?

Has anyone heard of a shop in Italy (Pordanone?), where you can get cheap boots even due to possible cosmetic defects? Otherwise, I'm buying boots for winter high-mountain tours, I have a slightly wider foot, where and what to buy? Thanks, Blaz.

The Koflach brand was once known for wider lasts on boots, but I don't know if it still exists. Meindl boots are also suitable for wide feet, but I don't know what winter models they have. Ask at Koala Sport in Bled, Matjaž on tel. 04 5767222. He will import from Austria or already has something in stock.
