Thanks for answers nasmeh
What about Alpina Nepal? Asking for gf, some female opinion wouldn't hurt nasmeh

I have Alpina Nepal and use it more for high mountains or snow. Very comfortable for me, not too heavy, sole rubber good grip. Have narrow long foot so Alpina boots fit me. Also have Alpina Henry, but at low temps and frozen snow sole grip much worse. Feels like sole rubber too hard at low temps. Dry conditions grip OK.

Women's opinion: Alpina Nepal is an absolutely too heavy boot, personally I prefer GTX and similar materials rather than leather, but I allow different choices.
If I were buying now, I would choose (depending on the purpose of use but the selection would be): La Sportiva Trango Tower GTX W's, La Sportiva Trango TRK Leather GTX (leather and GTX combination), La Sportiva Stream GTX Surround. The Sportiva last fits me, I don't want to do advertising. I recommend visiting stores and trying on several models. It's hard to advise over the forum, everyone has a different foot, wishes and purpose of use.
I wish you a good purchase.

GTX (Gore-Tex) is a material you don't see on the boot. It is a membrane made from Teflon fibers or expanded Teflon that repels liquid water but still allows water vapor to pass through.
This membrane is between the boot's exterior and the inner lining.mežikanje
For the boot's exterior, various nylon fabrics with different commercial names are used.

Let me add my experiences with various boots.
When I switched from soft (and comfortable) boots to stiffer ones - LA SPORTIVA TRANGO ALP - it felt like I had tanks up there, plus high heels; it was really an unusual feeling to walk around in them. I needed a couple of hikes to break them in; I was very satisfied with them (grip, waterproofness), but they were never truly comfortable for me. Since I now need a larger size, I retired them early, although they would have lasted a few more seasons. In short, the quality is top-notch, but the comfort is not for me, so I decided to try another brand ...

So recently I got KAYLAND CROSS MOUNTAIN. They were generally praised and well-rated and supposed to be really comfortable. Well, I just couldn't break them in; tried various socks, two pairs or one, problems similar to the beginning with La Sportiva (heel, toes). Size large enough.
The more serious problem was the overly long laces, which, despite double-tying them, got caught on the metal loop of the other boot, so I fell like a log, luckily on grass. OK, I'm clumsy, I told myself ... On the fourth hike with them, the laces got caught again on the highest metal loop, which this time tore off ... Luckily we only had a descent from the hut ahead and not too demanding path. What if it happened in the middle of a wall and rocks? Somehow I tied the boot and got to the valley. Immediately I filed a complaint with Kibubo and demanded money back, because I no longer trust these boots; for me, the metal loops for laces on this model are dangerous! They accepted the complaint, forwarded it to management, who forwarded it to Kayland company, and in less than a week they resolved it positively; I'll get my money back. nasmeh I expected them to just replace the faulty part. Apparently they had more such complaints ... This happened to me on practically new boots (two months old) on the fourth hike!

Immediately I went shopping for new ones, another brand again, maybe I'll have more luck now? zavijanje z očmi
LOWA CADIN MID (Promontana), currently on sale. My husband has been satisfied with this brand for years, but they always seemed too heavy to me, but this model is different - a bit lighter, high enough, just right stiff sole, but softer and comfortable upper part. Yesterday I tested them, on the first hike walked more than 6 hours in them, until then I had them on only a couple of minutes in the apartment. Result? No problems, nothing pinches or even blisters, so far I'm really satisfied! I hope this is it. And they are orange; for my size no other color was available - the colors are really cool and sell out fast. velik nasmeh

Maybe this helps someone; definitely try different brands, the right boots will be there! mežikanje

Scarpa Mescalito Mid, first I thought I found the perfect shoe, after a good year and 10 hard hikes the sole disintegrated. Scarpa rejected the warranty because more than 1 year passed (meanwhile lockdowns and all, half year didn't leave LJ, but OK, there must be a limit).

I'll have the sole replaced for the pair, 40 EUR, say it doubles the lifespan.

That comes to 12 EUR per day in the mountains just for boots, which I find outrageously expensive. Thanks, looking for another model.

Any recommendations for something better?
If no other ideas, I'll go back to Alpina Tibet or similar proven shoe...

n3jc, do they have to be mid?

Maybe something like this: https://www.lasportiva.com/en/tx4-mid-gtx-man-grey-27e909718

Can they be low? The above model exists also in a lower version and it's not bad, but less cushioned than Mescalito and luckily twists less (easier to scramble).

Scarpa Kalipe is also quite solid, but likewise not the most cushioned.

For me the old good Zen in low version is still the best. Mid-high has too stiff heel counter.

I suggest you also browse previous pages a bit, where dprapr wrote about shoes that look very comfortable. Since they no longer have a store nearby, I haven't tried them yet.

I have the same ones, Scarpa Mescalito mid for easier paths or terrain, more for surrounding hills, I don't torture them on gravel and scree etc, they are really comfortable. But you can see how thin the sole is and it probably wears out really fast. I hope mine last longer ...

I recommend Lowa Cadin mid to you, that's my opinion above, specifically (on 2000ers) I'll test them this weekend.

And no, color isn't important, but it can be icing on the cake for some. Also my mentioned description covers more sentences and more tried boots, the color mention at the end is more of a remark. winking

Scarpa Mescalito are comfortable, lightweight shoes with a completely misguided sole design. The midsole foam is too porous and too soft to support the rubber, which is only a few millimeters thick. Scarpa did this to reduce weight and even boasts about it in the product presentation. Reality is completely different. The upper leather part remains almost untouched, but the rubber disintegrates incredibly fast.

My experience ...

The first Mescalitos fell apart for me in the Dolomites after just over 130 km. I record all hikes with GPS and keep records, including of the shoes used. Disappointment was total.

I complained about the shoes and got an arrogant response from Scarpa's representative for this part of Europe, saying these shoes aren't meant for rocks and iron. After a few sharp emails, I got my money back.

I got the second Mescalitos as a gift, saying maybe the previous ones were just a bad batch. But they also fell apart after just over 130 km, again in the Dolomites. Repeat complaint, this time the mentioned guy agreed to free sole replacement. They really made an effort, although for the orange model I got a sole with yellow foam (photo). They also included yellow laces smile. Unfortunately, the joy lasted only one Dolomites visit, this time 140 km.

I take care of the shoes, always clean them and don't scramble on scree. Mescalitos were only for Dolomites, which are what they are (Brenta, Rosengarten, Sexten ...). The shoes fit my foot perfectly, but they are absolutely overpriced for the kilometers they can do.
On these the sole was replaced. Condition after 140 km1

@palcek, thanks, the store dprapr recommended seems no longer to exist, I'll check the other models.

@georgia, fingers crossed. My mescalitos were probably killed fastest by the descent over Smrajko, where there is scree.

@bagi, your mileage for mescalito matches mine quite well. The data table is invaluable, thanks!!

I'll probably expand the shoe portfolio with some robust low ones for scrambling and easier soder. But I'll continue searching for one mid shoe anyway, because I don't dare tackle much high mountain with lows.

After collecting some advice I got La Sportiva Boulder and tested it today already on rugged terrain. Better sole but less softness - decent trade. What interests me more is how they will be in a year, judging by advice they should be more durable.

I'll get Grisport too and hope then I'm covered with shoes for a while...

Thanks everyone!

What do you think about Planika Jalovec or Brana? Is it a comfortable boot or more low range? I'm looking for something for my wide sole, Alpina is not good, the others I haven't looked at, they recommended Planika.

Is Jalovec a very high boot? I had in mind buying lows but for some ultra tours it's probably better to have ankle protection.
Thanks.

I have a wide sole, but I wear La Sportiva.

Last few seasons Trango Trk leather, now in summer less in boots and took
Trango Tech Leather which are lighter and more technical. In winter (but only winter) Nepal Cube model.

Oh, and that too. Shoedoctor from Trzic changes soles for you, for Nepal model I paid 65 € per pair.

Whoever doesn't like stiff shoes. I certainly don't. I found a men's model in Iglu, actually. La Sportiva. I described to the seller what I'm looking for. Whether it's a men's or women's model doesn't matter to me. The important thing is that it fits me. I could choose between two colors. Black and orange. Otherwise, I wouldn't care. The guy was really friendly and helpful. And they were 30 percent discounted. And on the first tour right to Očak they performed excellently. I think it's a new model or maybe not. Ultra Raptor it says up there.

Does anyone have/had problems with the seam on the back of the shoe. That seam rubs and irritates the back of the foot so much that it's impossible to walk more than 2 hours....sensitive feet?

Problems also in the front, toes hurt like crazy downhill..I'm sure there's at least 2cm space in front, maybe only the big toe presses a bit on the edge when the shoe tightens.

Darinka, Raptors are La Sportiva's classic among trail sneakers, new is that they now started making mid version too, i.e. mid-cut, like yours. Good compromise between running and hiking shoe, but you have to expect the sole to wear out quickly, since basically they are sneakers.
