Don't take it too much to heart if I teach someone about field names on Solčava. All well-intentioned. It's a shame it seems these nice field names go with generations into oblivion. Few care anymore. Names live on only in talks of outsiders with locals who know the places well. Whether what you describe is Matkov zob or not, I can't deny or confirm, first time I hear the name. But there's a trail from Joušuc over Mali Joušuc and Črni vrh to Matkova Krnica. Called "Ta Grušava" quite "tough" in places. There where you reach the few-meter cable it's "Where death takes the young". From Matkova Krnica we used to go to Krnička Gora on the Austrian side past Zijalka. In the seventies bad landslide on the path, couldn't pass for a while. Don't know now. Yes beautiful wild areas. Best regards from Janez Slapnik.

@ziki, we're just happy if you tell us some local name for our beloved ends! There's little described in the literature, or we don't know about it.
I first heard about Matkov zob when JTrogar mentioned it.
What did you mean by that gorge on the middle path? On "Ta Grušavi" I don't remember a gorge!?

Did you mean Zijalka on the attached photo? That gully nearby is really crumbly.

Just happily explore the slopes of Matkove Kope, and you'll find that passage and gorge too. Then you'll know what I'm talking about. Yes, that zijalka could be the one we're talking about. Not quite sure though. I'd need to see another picture.

If this zijalka is on the north side of Krnička Gora, that's it. Mountains change with the years too.

Wandering the slopes of Matkove Kope is really nice, while it's still granted to us. Maybe someday I'll really find that gorge you mention.

Zijalka in Krnička better from afar and cavities in Mrzla gora....interesting to step on the ridge and the other side.

Yes that's it. If you look down from the top you see where "Smrt mladiče" is. Nice greetings to all wanderers exploring around here. Safe steps.

So this cable is not on "Ta Grušavi" which should lead from Jevševec to Matkova krnica, but on the middle path as I mentioned above.
I was already happy to have something else to explore up there! nasmeh

I also saw the little horse or little goat, your Zijalka, crossing Pavličevo sedlo - Mrzla gora in August 2012.

Today I went to Jerebičje. The morning look at the sky didn't promise much as there was fog. On arrival in Matkov kot already better mood where there was nice clarity and mountains bathed in sun. Started right at the bottom on the road to Matk where I continued on the forest road to Lesnikovo sedlo. Never been there so all unknown to me. Road to saddle nice only in the upper part there is mud velik nasmeh

as machines worked recently. From saddle onwards snow started. First a little then more and more up to 30 cm in places. I rushed to the first hump hm how further. Path invisible under snow and even if looked at home it wouldn't help. Break, thinking then searching. Descend a bit lower and hit the path that goes under the walls. As I already mentioned snow cover quite thick in places. Went fine as snow was soft so for now winter gear not needed maybe just gaiters good if you have. Views unique on the entire backdrop of KSA, Julijci, Karavanke. Nice without wind so I lingered quite easy. Slowly descend to starting point before dark. As I already mentioned nice tour which I'll repeat in spring when visiting Škaf mežikanje

Today with brother and Jovan to Jerebičje. Did good fitness tour and conditions check right after snowfall. Actually lightly snowing all day today beautified winter day.
Had different plans in the morning but new snow crossed them and directed us to reserve goal which always enchants. Jerebičje namely!
Yesterday weather forecasters predicted no notable precipitation in hills!? Would like to see them today under Škaf where small warning avalanches appeared due to quite some new snow.
Anyway, we turned under Škaf, descended a bit of the path, continued up the forest road... And when it ended, straight up the steep forest ridge to the middle path leading to Matkova krnica. There continued towards Matk and at the junction left up the upper path to the shepherd hut at Jevševec. Snow more with height. From under Škaf to Jerebičje summit almost 5 hours! Descended on the path under the ridge where there was lots of harmless snow to wade, and straight down to the car.
As Jovan said, much better than lying on the couch at home.

Cracks in the snow are already appearing.

From there onwards there was no more playing around, as there was a lot of snow on the left slope.

The space at Škaf is already filling with snow.

We continue up and down the middle path.

The most delicate passage, those two with poles...

At the saddle quite a bit of snow, old and new.

Also a lot of snow on the path below the ridge.

Crazy conditioning tour in today's foggy Matko kingdom. For ''Those two crazy Styrians'' and ''One crazy Bosnian'', it was heard from Drago and me a little below the summit of Jerebičje.

Time crunch can be solved just like that, by driving the car as high as possible. Jerebičje is ideal for such a thing and so it was on Sunday. We drove past Matko to Lesnikovo sedlo and then enjoyed the walk on the short panoramic ridge to the top of Jerebičje. At the top long martinčkanje and enjoying the view. It's nice when one can relive memories of adventures on them by looking at the surrounding peaks. Not really conditioning, but super for the soul. velik nasmeh

On Saturday, 28 May, morning tour to Jerebičje. Views beautiful like the path itself; I also met an acquaintance from hribi net and Facebook. Afternoon then a jump to Škaf, that's already in another topic. More in the video.
