On Saturday, despite the uncertain forecast, I went to Kokrsko sedlo. There the weather cleared, so I pondered for a while which way to go. Obviously the right one, because I headed left towards Kalška gora. At the top of the scree I searched for a while for remains of the old direct climbing path to Kalška gora. I climbed it once 30 years ago, and even then the warden at Cojza told me they won't maintain it anymore. But I found a couple of pegs. The path continues straight across the scree, then rises left into rocks. Some easy climbing, a few pegs and rope and you're on the ridge. There's also a path junction, left to Kalška gora, straight down to Krvavec, we go right along the ridge to the summit which isn't too close. Views are wonderful already from the ridge, which is sharp in places. When you think the last big ascent awaits, a deep gully opens up. Almost vertically you descend about 20m on two ropes then up the other side much easier. Then follows a steep ascent on the grassy ridge and we're at the spacious summit. Views from Krvavec, Storžič, Kočna, Grintavec, Dolgi hrbet, Štruca, Skuta, Klobasa, Križ, Turska gora, Brana, Planjava and more were to blame that I was returning (on the way back I went to Kalška gora 5min) to Cojza all afternoon, to the car in the dark. You know, record holders, but I'm not embarrassed. L.p.
