We used today's sunny day for the ascent to Čaven, more precisely to the hut on Čavnu. For the starting point we chose the village Lokavec near Ajdovščina. The path from the starting point to the top is entirely dry and today wasn't muddy at all. We descended towards Stomaž and meanwhile also visited Mala gora.

Today on Čaven the thaw took away the snow. Before the hut a couple of cm of snow, the rest of the southern slope is bare. But the trails are still quite muddy.

Today with friend from tunnel to Mala Gora, from M. Gora to Čaven and along middle Čavenski to tunnel. Before hut on Čaven not a puff of wind +11°C at 11 a.m. Fantastic.

At 8 in valley 0 degrees, at 9 before hut plus five, calm, now at 10 also plus five in valley. View towards Golaki shows (clouds-flag) that it's pretty rough up there, Čaven though is bathed in sun. Before hut still enough snow to get crampons on.

Yesterday with friend from Vrtovina to Kucelj-Čaven-Lokavec. On Kucelj it blew quite a bit, otherwise warm. We rested in hut on Čaven. Atmosphere was good, until one group of older hikers came and almost none closed door behind them. Apparently one woman from them missed thumbs.

Today I ascended from Vrtovina to Kucelj, then extended the path to the hut and descended to Kamnje. It was a sunny day almost without wind, temperature at hut +15°C.

Today we went from Predmeja to hut on Čaven. Snow average 20-30 cm. But full drifted by wind. Even up to ass we waded it, so it was quite fun. Up to Vejvrce it blew, on to hut and before, nothing. Lp

Was today,.. Start from Lokavec, in one and half hour at top, otherwise humid day and poor visibility. Next weekend to Alps.

On Saturday we went from Lokavec to Koča Antona Bavčerja on Čaven. At top strong shower caught us and already almost winter cold 6 degrees with bora. We returned back to Predmeja and down to Lokavec. Before that warmed up a bit in hut with tea and rum  .
So, if you plan to go to some hill of Trnovska planota need to equip quite winterly,... lp

Upload some photo from your area sometime. Now in coming winter time, we would sometimes visit your terrain.
Hope I didn't bore you with criticism (Prehodavci). So I ask you to present your end a bit closer from central Slovenia or suggest something attractive we could visit when our mountains are in snow!

I suggest the mid-Čaven path, which starts under the tunnels towards Predmeja, then all the way to Veliki rob and back. Or just Gora along the edge, just as long as too much bora isn't blowing, and Gradiška tour is also nice, although short, it can of course be extended towards Nanos, Kucelj, and Golaki.

Sonja and Aleksander at the Čaven hut will be happy for every visitor on weekends, and you can spend the night too.

Yeah Furioso, really almost winter conditions. I went from Ajdovščina, Hublja spring, R.path, Predmeja, hut. Saw the owners' faces, even watched football. Down together to Predmeja on R.path, at hut above Lokavec to road and first pub for LAŠKO. Rotten ku... Rumor you're planning Krn. I don't dare, cuz me and buddy tomorrow and Sunday to Čaven to stack wood. Winter approaching. Geppo, think from our ends enough pics and writing. Lp

This morning I went along the road to the Čavnu hut. At Predmeja -3°C, before the hut +3°C. Snow is 20-25 cm.

On 22.3 I was up there, snow only on road (last post-ajax first pic from there) on shady spots. Where sun shone on road none at all. At hut no snow, also towards Kuclj, modrasovcu, Lokvam... Now I think rain took most even from shady road parts...

Yesterday I treated myself to a nice tour from Lokavec to Čaven. Nice ascent, to the top meadow above Lokavec the path is medium steep then almost to the top very steep.. But definitely worth the effort because a wonderful view awaits us on top: Primorska part of Slovenia, on the left Snežnik, a bit more to the right Slavnik, behind Učka,...
On top around 16:00, sunny 15 degrees,..
