This afternoon from Predmeja to Čaven and Mali Modrasovec. At the beginning, the path is dry, then snow starts, on Čaven about 25cm. Under the edge strong bora was blowing, we walked in shelter. On Mali Modrasovec 1305m it was blowing to carry away. Nice afternoon hike!

But there's still a lot of snow up there... How about towards the edge, towards Col - is it passable at all? Do you have to break trail?

Beautiful day. Čaven... for many years I go to this beautiful mountain. For me it's one of the nicest hikes in this part of beautiful Slovenia. Beautiful view and even with over 1000m ascent from Lokavc real training for body and soul.
When first snow falls, the snowy idyll attracts even more to this beautiful plateau.
Yesterday 14.12.2019... to my regret and probably to regret of quite a few visitors the hut on Čaven was CLOSED. No one knew the exact reason as so little snow can't stop the recently new warden. In quite a few last years that the hut was closed due to snow hasn't happened. About guesses and conviction of many Čaven visitors WHY... now I won't.
But it's big damage both for beautiful Vipava valley and for local mountaineering society.
I'll still go up there, even though lately it's not like it used to be....
