On Saturday, 31.10.09 afternoon I lost / forgot Canon Ixus 850 IS camera at the parking lot below Čaven (on the road 2 km from Predmeja towards Lokavec). Honest finder please call me at 041321791. Thanks! Tomaž

On Thursday planning ascent to Lokavec on Čaven and continuation to Mali Golak. Saw there's already quite some snow, what (technical) gear do you recommend? Thanks!

Definitely smart to take gaiters, poles, impregnate boots well. Also take breathable softshell, shirt to change, some apple, muesli bar, drink, light, first aid, compass-fog and more would be found.

If weather continues like today, won't remain much snow in that area, I think.. ......you'll know to tell .

With friend went Sunday from Predmeja to Golak, down past hut and from back to Čaven. Although had gaiters, didn't need them cuz really trodden. Well anyway gaiters light. From hut to hut probably whole path dry already. Take what viharnik wrote, good luck.

Pleasantly tired, arrived home after a seven-hour circular tour. Lokavec-Koča A.Bavčerja on Čavnu-via traverse to Iztok hut below Golaki-Mali Golak-Predmeja-Lokavec. Great sunny sunrise at seven below Čavnu, possibility of Trnovski forest in fully dry (green-red) conditions, from Iztok hut to Mali Golak winter idyll, path fully trodden, so simply enjoyable! Snow on descent to Predmeja still somewhat below the sign of the protected Golakov park. Lots of pleasures and good luck!

Today up there it was super weather - sun and burja, visibility medium. From Predmeja the path is trodden and at the start a bit frozen, so caution and maybe some four-point crampons are not superfluous. Road from Predmeja untouched (snowy, no tracks). Snow hard and holds well. Towards top about 20-30cm.

Today with family done tour from Predmeja to Čaven and back. Path as Jaša wrote, morning slightly frozen but few cm new snow on path so not too annoying. Friendly keepers in hut, bit basking in warm sun, meanwhile path slight thaw so descent even better. Along path visible track of tourer who likely used last days for descent from Čaven. LP Andrej

Today I was on Čavnu, namely from Lokavec. Tour nice and interesting but for today's conditions dangerous for slipping. After rain it was muddy and in the initial part of the first half hour you literally walk in mud. Then better. No views today because of fog. Something was visible lower down. For descent need to be very careful about slipping. Dangerous to fall on stone. This route is more recommended in dry. But worth time and effort. You overcome 1075 m height difference so some fitness is needed.

This weekend I went to Čaven, started from the tunnels and went along the Srednječavenska path. It leads to the bivouac at Črna peč. From there I went back to the junction (left Stomaž) and right up to Mala gora. After a bit tiring ascent I reach a nice clearing from where to the hut just a few minutes. Of course it was closed. From there through the forest to Kucelj. From the main path I turned through the forest and when I came out to the exposed clearing I felt real Primorska burja. Good I had an extra anorak with me. On the top quite some people, all sheltered on the other side. On the top the burja was felt quite strongly. From there back to the main path and along it to the Koča na Čavnu hut. There ate ričet and drank tea then on the way also jumped to Modrasovec and back then along the path to Lokavec and back along Srednječavenska path to the car.

Yesterday we went with friends to Čaven, starting from Lokavec. Super nice and pleasant, but also long path, which we extended over the hut on Mali gora and to Kuclj, on the way back past the hut on Čavnu and back to the valley (Lokavec). The path is easy, very scenic at some places, but needs some fitness for the tour, as it takes about 5 hours. P.s.: on the path under the hut on Mali gora we found a dark blue tracksuit (or its upper part). If someone misses it... the shirt we left with the caretakers at Anton Bavčer hut on Čavnu. Regards.

Today we went to the hut on Čavnu from Stomaž. Nice trip for a warm, sunny winter day. The path pleasant, mostly dry, snow only a sample right below the hut.

Today winter hike to Čaven. Snow for joy, otherwise strong bora blowing. Entered the log and nice service, and we warmed up so we hugged a bit with girlfriends and friends from Hribi.net! I'll show it also in pictures and Starakapa is no family album, at most friendly!

Yesterday from the quarry we headed on a circular path to Čavna. The path took us mostly through forest, crossed some sandy slopes and reached bivouac Črna peč, there short break, ate Martin's chocolates... Marched on towards Kuclja, ups, how many km/h was blowing on the top? , don't know exactly, but know we crawled on all fours to the top and the same down After battle with wind soon reached hut on Čavnu and strengthened there, enjoyed good and fun company After a good hour headed to valley, along the edge to Mala gora, there short break at hut, photo for memory and down. As befits such excellent large company, headed also for small refreshment at farm tourism, greetings to all
