I also recommend the trail from Podljubelj over Kal, P in front of the school, it's also uncrowded, because you just have to put more effort to the hut/summit than from Matizovec ...

Kofce is a popular excursion spot. From the paid parking lot I went past Matizovec and the sawmill to the steep forest slope and climbed to the Kofce pasture with a nice view of the Košuta ridge. Trail without features as well as the ascent to Kofce mountain and to Veliki vrh. Rare larches will drop their decoration in the next days. About 14 days ago we planned to conquer Veliki vrh ... but, since we accidentally looked a bit for mushrooms along the trail, things changed.
We were picking mushrooms, it was really a pleasure to pick quite a few beautiful and nice boletuses.
So we arrived only to the hut, unfortunately already closed.
But it is really beautifully renovated since we were there last time. I have never tried the strudels, of course not then either, since the hut was closed.
On the door there was an offer about strudels, where they can be got, ... and so we found that pastry shop in Tržič, got strudels for home.
Really, I have to admit they are excellent.
In front of the hut we hosted jackdaws, which are very tame, they come within half a meter to you.

On Sunday to Kofce for the still best chocolate strudels. With Blue (Nessy is on sick leave) we left the car at the parking lot behind the farm in Dolina, then over Kal and past the chapel to Kofce. This trail is quite uncrowded, so this time we met no one, neither up nor down.
From Kal to the chapel the path was poor, despite predecessors' footprints it sank up to knees in places. I arrived at Kofce pleasantly tired and very thirsty velik nasmeh

I quickly took care of hydration, and for sweet refreshment too. The sunshine was pleasantly warming, so it was quite hard to head to the valley. There weren't many people either.
All main trails are trodden, I didn't use crampons, although the path from Kofce to Kal in the forest was a bit icy. I preferred to walk slowly and closer to the edge and it worked. Another super day there, where it's nicest nasmeh

Despite having short fur, it enjoys the snow and isn't cold at all, it often lies stretched out in the snow like this.

Today, on a sunny April Saturday, we headed to Kofce after a long time, again we chose the solitary path along the stream from Podljubelj over Kal, first time there with the dog.

Parking lot at the school in Podljubelj empty, the entire trail to Kofce already muddy (patches of snow can be bypassed), under Kal green treasure of ramsons, under Kofce beauties of blooming wood anemones in all shades.

We circled past the chapel back over Kal, surprisingly today we met only two hikers on the whole way up and down. On Kal there was some closed group, but also at Kofce today no crowd and quick service.

In short, for us a perfect day at an otherwise besieged destination. nasmeh

Early today from Podljubelj past Kal and chapel to Kofce for breakfast, in the form of strudels, of course nasmeh

On the way up we met no one, except cows grazing on Kal. Also no crowd at the hut, we were practically alone up there, some more came behind us. The strudels were excellent, as always.
Košuta was in a cloud, likewise Storžič and company, so no views. During the descent I chatted with uncle from the weekend cottage along the trail, we reached the valley before the rain (we got wet only on the motorway).

During the ascent it was still quite clear.

They had a bit of trouble getting across...

Mmmmm, will there be something left for us too?
