Konjiška gora

We don't live far from Sl. Konjice, but only today we decided to climb the climbing path to Skala. Almost always we visit distant paths first and forget the nearby ones somehow.
The path has long been snow-free, dry and quite dusty. The climbing part surprised me a bit with difficulty, my son even thought this part is harder than the climb via the climbing path on Gradiška tour. Definitely recommend self-belay kit for less experienced, helmet for all, since wall above is quite steep and falling rocks possible.
Otherwise nice trip in warm and quite windy weather.
quite a few fallen trees on and beside the path, evidence of very strong winds in these parts1

Best to park near the church, surely find a spot. Then I think at least two options. Either from church left/east as marked and signposted to Skala, steeper path direct to climbing part, or from church straight up to cemetery then past Konjice Castle. On reaching gravel road path turns left and continues moderately up to Skala. Also from there branch to climbing part well marked.
Can shorten if park higher along road, but no need as path short anyway. Detailed description here on site under Pohorje mountains list.
Enjoy safe hike mežikanje

18.4.2012 One question.
And that question is for serious experts. Is it possible to see Varaždin from Stolpnik?
When the seventh passed there was a wonderful view I studied the view from the top of the building where my parents live (and that's an eleven-story with a very good view). Pohorje like on the palm, but what tiny thing LEFT (south) of Pohorje I noticed another mountain... Now I'm not quite sure, but it seems to me that it could be Konjiska Mountain and Stolpnik... Maybe also Mala gora/Stenica or even Basališče... So I need help.
By the way, from the northern part of Varaždin you can also see Boč, Donačka is hidden by Ravna gora, and that's by a hair because Donačka is visible from the shooting range on Drava...

The question was for experts I'm not exactly that, Stolpnik can be recognized by its shape. Otherwise uncle Google Earth could help. I'm attaching some photos hope it helps. Or put your feet on the path, once you visit a certain peak everything is easier.
Nice greetings to Varaždin and safe steps in the mountains

Stolpnik from Ravne gore.1
Stolpnik and KSA, somehow like this we could see it from VŽ (hills in between! Vukovoj ..) I doubt.2
Taken from Slatina - Cirkulane, from the northern part of VŽ we could see something similar (high above the terrain).3
From the vicinity of Višnjica - Visina.4
Varaždin from Veliki vrh above Borl, and Sveta Barbara Vinica (which tower is yours?).5

What if Raduha is visible?

Konjiška Mountain is visible from Varaždin south of the main ridge of the Grintovci. Check on http://www.udeuschle.selfhost.pro/panoramas/makepanoramas.htm
And a nice greetingnasmeh

First, thanks to everyone who participates. Raduha definitely isn't because that mountain I saw is under forest, on top of Raduha there is none. Grintavec is too far, but it can be seen from the Varaždin area (people often think it's Triglav).
Unfortunately, that mountain is not seen often because it's even farther from Pohorje and there is strong smog in Varaždin. When I used that panorama viewer that Atoamac recommended (thanks!), I'm 99.99% sure that I actually see Konjiška Mountain and Mala gora and Basališče, all of that but it seems like one single mountain...
Next time there's good visibility, I'll try to photograph with high resolution and from that photo figure out which mountain it is. But further suggestions are still welcome.

So the first mountain from Pohorje zmeden could also be Olševa which we can see from Haloze, more likely Paški Kozjak and peak Basališče 1272m, Mala gora or Stenica is even more to the left, then Konjiška Mountain and peak Stolpnik towards the Kamniški. Grintovec from VŽ you don't see so you can't see Stolpnik either (photo 2 from first post). I hope the photos help.
Nice greetings nasmeh

Čarli, very much obliged for those photos. On Saturday I hiked on Ravna gora and forever solved that riddle - The mountain that appears in exceptional visibility is Konjiška Mountain. But as from Ravna gora so also from Varaždin you can't see Stolpnik because Jelenji vrh blocks it. But I'm wrong when I think Konjiška Mountain is in the same line as Mala gora/Stenica and Basališče... Those are a bit to the right, but from the building where my parents are unfortunately that part is blocked by the neighboring building. Otherwise they can be seen from Varaždin... next time I'll try from the southernmost building where nothing obstructs the view to the northwest...

On Sunday 06.05.2012 to Konjiška gora - Stolpnik from the starting point Črešnjice or pre-starting point Žička kartuzija. Yes, these southern approaches to Stolpnik (Žička kartuzija, Sojek, Črešnjice) are good and to my taste more interesting than the northern approaches. Start before Žička kartuzija and continuation on the asphalt connection through the settlement Sojek to Črešnjice. Despite the asphalt, a nice path to feel the pulse of the life of the locals who persist in this part of Slovenia under Konjiška gora - ready for conversation and useful advice... Črešnjice is definitely an excellent starting point and the path nicely winds entirely on a forest path to the top of Stolpnik. Interesting path, today a good three hours in micro version, because there was no time nor real will for more. Descent today on mežikanje hunters' paths and partly pathless to the last farm by the mountain path above Žička kartuzija - yes, there must be some path for one's own soul and hidden from Garmin...

Friend Cviko and I today (03.06.) hiked Konjiška gora. Up to the climbing path on Skala. First time I was thrilled how this mini via ferrata is done, this time I also realized it's not that easy. The ascent was in still air and it was quite muggy; by Skala we were already quite exhausted.
From Skala onwards to Stolpnik, this time via variant over Kamna gora and then on the XIV division path to Grofov štant and up to the top. I didn't go to the tower because the wind was very strong, but the view was poor.
Down we took Zmajčkova pot. Very interesting path through mix of blackberry and whiteberry. The path comes out to Konjice at the cemetery. When you reach the junction of the educational and dragon path, unfortunately there is no arrow or mark on how to get to that path where the wooden bridge is... I know I went there about five or six years ago when I was first on Konjiška, but I don't remember how anymore.
Unfortunately the view was too disturbed and not far, so Varaždin wasn't visible... well, that riddle is solved.

During various hiking activities on Konjiška gora I practically always mežikanje "spotted" an interesting peak - koto on the path section between Stolpnik and... almost directly in front of the Three Crosses. It is quite prominent in that area with quite interesting shapes. This time my buddy and I quickly decided to climb the newly "cut" forest track - road and conquered it. The summit is partially cleared and there is also some view towards Slovenske Konjice. I didn't even know its name until today and after some research found out we were on the 873 m high Plešivec about which there is not much written...
Source:Plešivec 873 m a.s.l. on Konjiška gora
We descended partially along another branch of the steep forest track and thus did some sort of "loop" on this part of Konjiška gora. Maybe return for a photo or two..., since I didn't have a camera with me... Best regards, bruny

Yesterday I headed to Konjiška gora near Slovenske Konjice and planned the tour a bit my own way. Start in the center near the church towards Skala and along the climbing path. From there I continued to the main summit Stolpnik. The view was very nice, wonderful, but the wind on the top of the tower was quite strong. On the way I met only three hikers the whole lovely dayvelik nasmeh

We were this afternoon on Stolpnik from Kamna gora, the path at the beginning is poorly marked i.e. there are marks but you don't know if they lead to Stolpnik or somewhere else since next to them is Roman no. 14. I think it has to do with the 14th partisan brigade. After half the path then there are nice signs and marks ahead. Since I had 15 kg backpack it was sweaty in 2 sections. No stamp at the top, in the box only logbook. Otherwise cloudless and no wind with just a couple of hikers.

I walked this route in May and the path is correctly marked or signposted from Kamna gora and it is also somewhere mežikanje clear that it leads to Stolpnik and as written the branches further on are marked. It is also the path of the 14th Division.

Now I'll return to the riddle again... Today exceptional visibility and that mysterious mountain is Paški Kozjak, now I'm sure. But, also Konjiška Mountain and Mala Gora/Stenica are visible from higher buildings in Varaždin.
And as Atoamac said, from Varaždin it is, but really tiny, also Raduha visible. KSA though easily found.

This afternoon hiking to Konjiška Mountain practically from the center of Slovenske Konjice - start near St. George's church and to the area above Konjice quarries somewhat more east of the 870m high Tolsti vrh and Skala. Short activity more in the style of "scouting" the terrain and it wasn't exactly "what it should be". Conditions for walking excellent, frozen ground, here and there snow patch, no wind and temperature around freezing. Best
Eastern part of Konjiška gora...1
...Slovenske Konjice...2
...in the forest...3
...also some fallen trees along the path...4
...yes, today the path led through distinctly northern exposures...5
...and for the right feeling, also a jump onto a peak by the path...6
...it was more of a ,,mid-peak,, than a peak on one of the ridges of Tolstega vrha but still enough for a late Thursday afternoon...Lp7
