Today past the Hut on Košenjak to the summit. Wonderful weather, ARSO drew thunderbolts for the area but sunny all day, afternoon almost cloudless . Some obviously take holidays too seriously . No snow on south side and summit anymore.

On 7th Easter Sunday I was at Holy Mass in Ojstrica parish above Dravograd. After Mass I waited in the car for about an hour as it was raining hard. Finally rain eased for a short time and when I almost gave up I set off. After not even 5 min walking it poured again, heavy rain accompanied me almost to the summit, just before top it cleared and on top sun even shone briefly. Worth the wait, barely made it . Soon after descent heavy rain from sky again, rain followed me almost to car, just before Ojstrica it cleared. Super Sunday, fully April-like hike judging by weather. Yes, I wasn't far either (western Pohorje). Though so close, there luckily just a few drops. Believe you, saw moving rain curtains, e.g. on Uršlja around 4pm. Weather changed in bands

On Uršlja must have been pretty wild, there was thick fog. This year ice men will live up to reputation, at noon on Ojstrica (983m) 9-10°C, on Košenjak (1522m) even less. When returning down north wind started pulling from Austria.

From Dravograd over Goriški vrh to Košenjak, then I choose path Pernice to Bistriški Jarek. Path to Bistriški jarek best in rubber boots morning or in rain. High blueberries, lower high wet grass not pleasant. From there continue on KPP to Ožbalt. At hut Glavar Romana joins me and together we continue night path. (PD Radlje take PD Bricnik as example how trails should be maintained.) Strange neighbors, one best other worst. If help needed call.

Real winter on Košenjak too. 30-40cm snow and temp near -10. Had to break trail a bit. Worth ascending from Dravograd via Goriški vrh to Austrian border. Along the way superb views to Peca, Obir, Košuta, KSA and even Julijci.

Hello. On Sunday I might go to Košenjak. I'm interested in this path: http://www.hribi.net/izlet/sveti_janez_krstnik_na_ojstrici_kosenjak_/4/743/1341 Do you think or know if to the starting point Sveti Janez Krstnik na Ojstrici at 982m the road is normally drivable, i.e. without snow? Is this hiking path well trodden? How much snow higher up to the top? Since not specified: can go without issues without crampons or is it still good to have them? Thanks for help.

Addition: stamp is at the top and normally available for use?

The road is clear, and asphalt goes all the way to the Church and there's parking space by the road. At the top probably still a bit of snow and in the forest maybe some ice, so take crampons. Otherwise, I suggest the path from Dravograd over Goriški vrh, it's well marked and has nice views along the way. The ascent takes less than 3 hours. Because this path is quite boring. You go along the road to the hut and then through the forest to the top. Stamp and logbook are at the top.

Call the hut keeper Marijana Ring at 02 87 84 440, better on mobile 041 222 360, because the first number is probably the hut's. L.p.

On 29.04. Romana, Uroš and I set off at 4am from Dravograd bus station to Košenjak. Due to darkness we focused more on the path over Goriški vrh, of course we reached it in daylight. The weather was not as forecasted. We descended towards Urban and later via Pernic to Bistriški jarek, but before reaching the valley we were already in rain gear and umbrella was very useful. Since my last visit, they nicely cleared the path, and snow is gone. Thanks to all responsible. Lp.

Today on the highest peak of Kozjak. Dravograd-Goriški vrh-Košenjak-Goriški vrh-Dravograd. Here and there a bit icy, above 15 cm snow otherwise path mostly clear. Strong wind along the way, especially on clearings, but on top pleasantly warm and beautiful view of KSA, Karavanke and Julian Alps.
