At the road entrance then again along the road and at the hut it says road toll must be paid.

Yeah, I avoided it too, but on return (by bike from Ljubelj, because I was doing traverse of entire ridge) I went real quiet and fast past open hut doors so no one spots me and then zoomed from parking lot with car asap.

This one goes inside to eat and drink too. nasmeh

Today at dawn from Spodnje Dolge Njive pasture I headed to Košutnikov Turn via eastern path, then along ridge to Ostrvi and descended via western path back to pl. Sp. Dolge Njive.
Weather foggy, quite windy on ridge with occasional light showers. Path slippery because of that and I slipped several times on my a.... jezen

On ascent met no one, only on descent and at pl. Sp.D. njiva some. Always friendly girls served me good »dose« of coffee at pasture nasmeh

Despite bad weather, interesting tour in its own way.

No runaways, escapees, refugees or any migrants.

Tolsta Košuta and Košutnikov turn, in short sleeves, no wind, path without peculiarities.

Below Krnica, past Dolga Njiva via the western path first to Ostrv and Macesje, to Košutnikov turn. From the top then down the eastern path to planina Dolga Njiva. At the pasture they say livestock is driven up these days. Few of us were there today at this end. Path without peculiarities, weather was favorable too.

I look around and finally see a person on the summit

Macesje, Ostrv and Košutnikov turn are behind me

on the pasture I drink coffee and we chat a bit

you can easily see some beautiful old homesteads here

Is the path completely dry then? We're thinking a bit about going on Saturday. Did you do a loop? Can one follow this loop nicely? Thanks

The trail is marked, you can also go in the reverse direction.

Grenaleva, cables are for Ostrv. The section is short; if going only to Košutnikov Turn, there are no chains or cables.

Approach to K. Turn, especially western, is not quite innocent. There is no real technical difficulty, but the path is quite unpleasant - it's a very steep grassy slope, the path is very narrow and often damaged. So, don't underestimate this tour at all, though guides often dismiss it briefly as "easy".

Hello, conditions from the hut under Koschuta (Koschutahaus) via ÖTK Steig to the Koschutnik Tower summit? Has anyone hiked it recently?

Forecasters are sometimes right and today the fog really dominated Koschuta. Today we only visited Koschutnik Tower, though the initial plan was more ambitious. Up the western, down the eastern path, no special features except moisture, wet grass, slippery terrain.
In short: fog trip with no views and today quite uncomfortably chilly, though no wind. Hut at Dolga Njiva closed. Summit book full, waiting for replacement.

At the start we still hoped the fog wouldn't reach the summit.

Fairly awkward terrain due to extreme moisture for descent.

The hut on Planina Dolga njiva was closed.

For those picking berries, blueberries have fruited well this year.

Second time this year to Koschutnik Tower. Before to Ostrv. Path firm and dry, nice weather, no wind, just light haze. Up western, down eastern.

Today's solarium with south breeze on Košutnikov Turn was really beneficial for soul and body.
Through Siberian Medvodje at -8°C with fully frozen waterfalls we arrived at the parking under Dolga Njiva. We did a loop tour starting at Zg. Dolgi Njivi and returning via the steep direct. Up top very warm, Helena of course in short sleeves, views fantastic all around, even clearer to Ankogel, Hochalmspitze, High Tours with Grossglockner. We wondered where the snow was?, walking on a dusty path, my car as if from Sahara, not from Ljubljana. At the summit we took nice time for snacks, sharing chocolate bananas, Manner biscuits, I had Mozart, in short, as if another Santa Claus gifted us at the top, with laughter, conversations, jokes aplenty nasmeh

. Sunburnt from the sun, we stopped at Old English pub at the gas station in Tržič and had a drink at sunset. Nice, nice, almost too nice!.
