Kind explanation for possible visitors who aren't quite locals up here:
Lukito, you probably went along the path from the church, since the steel cables are only there across the spruce "plantation" right before the hut. I believe it's icy there. I went the other one from the first parking lot and there's no ice anywhere except a couple meters right at the top, just before you come out of the forest and spot the hut. You can bypass it by going on the grass off the path.

Yesterday from Gozd through the "spruce plantation". Path without issues, in the last meters at the steel cables there's a bit of ice, but it can be bypassed.

Today first time on this Gorenjska "balcony".
Start from village Gozd along the marked path. Path is very nicely marked, well arranged with lots of benches for stops and rest. Most of the time walking in pleasant forest, which noticeably eases the fairly steep ascent compared to walking in the sun. Path is demanding all the way, doesn't ease up to the top. So good to have some fitness 
In the last steep section the rope helps, which would be very welcome in bad weather or when path is wet. Then it can be quite dangerous for slipping and ankle twist. At the top hut open, full of people, friendly caretakers and large portions of tasty food!
Views really beautiful to Gorenjska plain and LJ basin towards S and SW. To the E view stops at Tolsti vrh and behind it Storžič peeks, to the S behind Gozič the Košuta ridge hides, to the W Julijci barely visible from hut as forest covers them.
Worth visiting!

On the last day of this "strange" year I went to the reliable (due to avalanche danger in high mountains) Kriška gora. Even though I was quite late, parking in Gozd was still fairly empty, which changed a lot on return as crowd on path was big. Path is good, doable without crampons, even with bike
In new year I wish all of you lots of luck, health and safe steps. May 2021 be more normal than the year we're leaving and may we meet in mountains as much as possible. Happy and optimistic 2021!

Start of the path at Gozd. We continue along the track (muddy). At the first signpost we choose the Sheep path (looks drier). Soon we reach the first scree (crossing wasn't difficult). Some snow, ice and mud accompanied us for quite a while. Finally we reach the ridge where snow starts, which accompanies you all the way to the hut. At the hut lots of visitors. Good that we chose this path as we met only a few hikers. We returned the same way. Crampons stayed dry in the backpack. Regards Majda

An even better path is from St. Joseph, past Velika Mizica, there you meet no one.

From Gozd along the steep path. First time differently to Kriška gora. Honestly - didn't expect such steepness - from the start all the way to the top. Gotta grit your teeth, no flat sections - but super path to sweat and extra training. 
Weather ideal, phenomenal experience, full gas all the time. Snow really only a bit in the last forest section in some shades, rest all dry. At top almost no wind and crazy warm.
