If it helps at all. Before I registered on the forum myself, I followed the "old cats" for years, eagerly reading descriptions, admiring various photo masterpieces and following others' adventures. When I got a basic idea of how the forum works and its rich content, I decided to join in. My contributions are more modest, but if a description helps someone sometime, that's good too. Sometimes people contact me via forum or ZS and if I know, I usually reply. If I have time, we do some hikes together. Questions from those who don't know where to go but expect answers served on a plate for every path and peak that pops into their head annoy me. Also annoying is opening new threads on the same "topic" when it's all been described many times, but they're too lazy to check groups and older pages. That's up to the site moderators, but it makes the site less clear. And finally, dumb questions annoy me, even more the replies from those who've been to a mountain once or maybe never, but reply without knowing what they're saying. In these hot days I'd definitely suggest Prehodavce, more shade can be found there, especially via Lepoč and Trebiški dol. Best regards on a hot day.

Hello. This weekend I was at Kriški Podi, stayed overnight at Pogačnikov dom. I have to say the team at the hut is decidedly too young, as early rising is foreign to them, nighttime partying very familiar. In the hut there was no peace late into the night, they served completely drunk people (friends of the keepers), then distributed those party animals to different rooms, so no peace! Also, given they have a cable car, restocking basic supplies (bottled water, 1.5 liters) shouldn't be a problem.

Nice greetings to all. Last weekend I was on Kriski podi, specifically we went from Zadnjica towards Luknja and then over Bovski Gamsovec to Pogacnikov dom. Stayed there overnight, second day to Kriz and Stenar then back to Zadnjica valley. Very nice and quite demanding tour, due to the previous elevation gain. At Pogacnik dom they served us very well, and even though the team is quite young, it's very good.

svabma - I thought only positive people go to the mountains. You're the only one criticizing the team at the hut on Kriški Podi. You could join them and try working from five in the morning till late evening hours and trying to satisfy the wishes of all partygoers and grumps.

I'll say it again, the team at Pogačnikov dom is young and successful. As for water, their tap water is excellent. Svabma you better stay home, because you're a negative guy Lp

Me too and the rest of the group, there were eight of us, we stayed overnight at Kriški Podi on 13.8.2011. Terrible crowd, so 35 of us slept in the dining room. No rowdiness, staff was up at 4:30 am, and we cleaned the dining room back to original state together. Whoever lasts from 4:30 am to 11 pm, I think hats off to the staff. Whoever can't drink tap water is too fancy to hike mountains.

... those who drink tap water at Kriški Podi - you're drinking water from the Upper Kriški Lake, from where they have a pipe ... with intermediate breaks ... due to too high pressure ... because pressure over 10 Atm would do its thing on the taps Or of course ... at the bar order "disinfectant" too ... 0.3

Two years ago the hut warden at Pogačnik explained to me that the water is actually quite good for drinking, but not analyzed. To avoid some annoying nitpickers who want to see regulations, they rather write that the water is not potable. I always fill it up, but I see that in recent years most prefer to buy a bottle, although tap water is better. Well, the profit from bottled water isn't negligible either. Otherwise the girls there at Pogačnik are really friendly, even if sometimes a bit slow and clumsy, which I take into account, since it's not easy working night to night. Sadly we lack too many such huts here.

I already wrote to you. If you go e.g. over Sovatna probably don't need anything else than ice axe. Just in case take crampons too, if somewhere accidentally frozen. Not much snow visible really.

Today two of us went over Sovatna to Stenar. Sovatna practically dry, ahead some snow patches, nothing dramatic. Extremely nice. Just go up, if no new snow.

The Saturday experiences on the path from Zadnjica to the hunting hut under Kriški Podi were deep. Sinking into the snow indeed reached unsuspected depths. Otherwise spring-like warm and - beautiful as always.

Today on Kriški Podi, started very early from Zadnjica to Pogačnikov dom - 2050 m (the hut was opened on October 7, 1951. It was named after Jože Pogačnik (1927-1951), head of the PZS economic commission and initiator of the hut's construction, who fatally fell in Mlinarica on the way to the opening) and continued a bit further to Križ - 2410 m. The path to Pogačnikov dom is beautiful, easy, relaxing, we recharged our batteries again at least until Saturday All three lakes are beautiful, lower and middle below the hut. Further to Križ some climbing, but okay too, views were fantastic , on the way to Križ also view on Upper Kriško Lake , Upper Kriško Lake is the highest Slovenian lake, located at 2154 meters. The sun greeted us wherever we walked, even a bit too hot , good there was lots of shade in the forest in the afternoon on descent, acting like a shower

Yesterday also myself from Zadnjica to Pogačnikov dom on Kriški Podi and further to Križ. As befits a holiday, lots of visitors, one of the nicer tours in our mountains.
