... and yes, we drive to Matkov kot where silence, peace and calm reign, except around LD buzzing generator which disturbs the morning idyll a bit, but we two hurry on and soon immerse in thoughts, well, me in puffing of initial steep. Surprised by path that's well traceable and nicely laid. Soon we are in Matkova krnica where my co-goer reveals his plan, hmmm, of course I give in zadrega

... think at least one peak in the bag, hehe... on well visible trail we go to Matkova Kopa where first snack and enjoying views despite mists gathering over valley and around us. We descend back to cirque and re-ascend to notch which in the last part is awkward, more back less forward eek

. Here rope sings and me too, haha... carefully over traverse past slab to easier world, to nice ridgelet, bit down up and yesss, Krnička gora caught. Joy not full max like knew somehow... another small snack velik nasmeh

, no views as we were fogged. Still we sit a while, hope some clears but staring at sky still misty mrk pogled

. Helmets on hairdos and already we traverse to notch where we decide for ridgelet and right variant then left before start of continuing ridge to MG. Steep but manageable grasses soon replaced by nasty, tiring karst of karsts, traverse, at same time mist hindered as we couldn't see ahead... we push through crawling (read me zadrega

) and careful, then it opens a bit and we see marked trail below us, which eased the direction of traverse. Yayyy, though marked to Škaf no walkover, we knew all hard behind us. Followed descent to "car" and counting cees this path offers in abundance jezen

Lower path to Matkova krnica nicely traceable, also to Matkova kopa sawn up to gully where trail turns left to top and continuation of middle path well visible.
Next day we saw it from Matkovo okno, man looks like real AC... mežikanje

Initial ascent to Krnička gora loaded, crumbly, traverses just for one finger mežikanje

and tons of rocks to go, then surprises, nice to me, ridgelet. Hmm, renewed stop or labored breath towards Latvica, can't secure yourself, nowhere to grip and it slips, so we stepped very carefully. On meadow of marked path where we joined, easier to breathe nasmeh

Wanted, done, very satisfied mežikanje

and enjoying solitude up there priceless... grateful for opportunity and possibility... nasmeh

already peering into the initial, most demanding part of the ascent

still fresh memory of the traversed ridge :)

splendid backdrop for the conclusion of a successful day...

Joining the congratulations, super hike on a beautiful autumn day, for me definitely the hardest part was the descent to Latvice, although climbing to luska is no small thing either.

For me too, the hardest part of the tour was the descent to Latvice, but I'll definitely come back to visit mežikanje

Congrats on the nice trip!
The hardest part of the trip can be bypassed by crossing directly from the saddle towards the cirque of Latvice.
We did this tour once and I went along the upper traverse, two along the lower. I enjoyed the upper one and reached the point where the lower joins when my companions were still struggling in the middle of it. It's really a bit more airy.
You'll have to go up again sometime.

you know, we looked from the grass, after the traverse, on the marked path, that it might really be better a bit higher, but when descending we were in such fog that we couldn't see anything ahead and just followed the feeling mežikanje

...and yes, definitely again sometime, but now the little tour, aka Latvica, has to "sit down and go into oblivion" for a while, hehee velik nasmeh

Today up along the ridge, descent though…
Plan was to go towards Latvica, but I just couldn't find the passage. And I've crossed it many times before… zavijanje z očmi

So, followed a re-ascent back to the summit and a somewhat easier descent down the “dotted” gully to the right fork, back to our side.
It turned into quite a long trip…unplanned, but if it doesn't go, it doesn't. nasmeh

Today at Matkova Kopa and Krnička gora.

It was a nice autumn day. A bit cold in the morning, but then it warmed up properly. Forests are colorful in autumn shades, some larches already yellowing.

Path to the kopa no problem, I pushed a bit too much into the pines, oh well. Towards Krnička I didn't look for the path at all, but made it to the col my way. Then calm progress to the summit. Continued towards Latvica, first along the ridge, but after a while had enough and preferred to descend to the Austrian side to the col between Krnička ridge and Mrzla gora. I'd recommend this to everyone going first time. Then steep descent on scree and grass. When I was about five minutes to the junction with the marked path, I had a 3.5m slip. Nothing serious, scratched and cut I dragged it back to Matkov kot.
