Today I drive from rain to snowy Krvavec. Road below partly fully covered with autumn leaves, higher above 1200m rain turns to snow. On return it was snowing even at Ambrož, but no snow there yet. At Jezerca I park in a pile of dry snow, where some cars of first snow idyll lovers stood. Put on gaiters, goretex jacket, gloves and head up the ski slope past Dom Krvavec, then pull to Zvoh as everything is so close. Midway meet two hikers returning from Dom Krvavec. Higher up today, due to snow blizzard no one was so keen to go to Zvoh. But it was nice, idyllic snowy, only wind with snow intensified on return. Hurry down on already half-covered tracks. Now on grass it was slippery, so once despite caution I fell to the ground like a log. If it stays so mushy, soon need to go to mountains on skis. Best-Rok

Yesterday excellent weather, time and will just enough to drive to the barrier before Kriška planina and check conditions with own eyes. Over Krvavec, Zvoh, to Vrh Korena (1999) Just WARNING: in the gully where the cable is one peg pulled out, one heavily worn. Best, Jaša

I have to say I was very disappointed with the offer on Krvavec for hikers and cyclists. While in winter Krvavec is full on, in other months no interest for others who like to walk. Hut on Krvavec closed, supposedly open only weekends. Although number of visitors quite large even weekdays. At top of Krvavec destroyed logbook and stamp, so didn't get the stamp at all. Probably available in hut if open. On way back stopped at Plaža and just caught the vendor selling drinks as we ran out. Then he closed that too. Otherwise the trip was really nice. Recommend especially nice sunny weather, view can be divine. Start at Ambrož pod Krvavcem then path through Jezerce to hut on Krvavec, from there to top Krvavec and to Veliki Zvoh. There at least they have stamp.

What about motorcyclists - crossers, I'm keeping the photo, that day I felt like sending it somewhere?

Yeah that's true too. Already from the hut onwards there's a sign prohibiting motor vehicles and cyclists. They say. But they drive anyway.

Probably they need some stamp, so they ride to get it...

Today start from Ambrož under Krvavec and ascent to the top of Krvavec - Zvoh. New snow cca. 10 cm, dry. Just right for real winter idyll, otherwise more could have fallen, it'd show on descent as it slipped a bit. Weather as expected, some sun, some clouds, on Zvoh summit fog and quite cold. Otherwise on Krvavec they're hurriedly preparing for season, snowcats working, groomers too, so they're already grooming the slopes, if a bit more snow falls it'll be top-notch. Not many with skis, more on foot. More photos at: http://picasaweb.google.com/luka.petkovsek/Zvoh27112010#

Walking times too. Started at 7.30h to Zvoh, arrived 10.45h. That means today it started snowing up there shortly after eleven when I skied down. Lp

Viharnik, please explain what's happening on Kriška planina? As seen on 6th pic, quite a large settlement built there, multi-story huts, some big elongated building. Have our tycoons started occupying remote pastures too? We're used to just larger or smaller shepherd hut on pasture, and maybe a cheese dairy.

Those once more pastoral houses were renovated a few years ago, as that facade is more suitable for the valley. There everything has somehow been converted into some studios for weekend rest, some even live there. The old L-shaped annex at Kriška pl. is now private property with apartments. If you're interested in staying up here, one of the few still buildable plots in this area is available, price around 60,000€. It's located a bit below Pl. Jezerce - see real estate. For me a mountain house is worth it only if it is made exclusively from natural materials, because living in it is extremely healthy. Wood, besides natural vibration, also has the function of regulating moisture in the space, as it naturally breathes and even purifies the air of invisible particles.
