Hello.

On Saturday we plan to go to Ledinski vrh from Okrešelj and we're interested in the path condition and avalanche situation.

Also interested in approximate hiking time in winter conditions.

Today it was like this: in the morning first gloomy, disappointed looks at the peaks above Jezersko – most wrapped in thick dark clouds. Nevertheless, we didn't change our decision. We drive to the Ravenska Kočna valley to the parking lot at the lower station of the cargo cableway. Up to Kranjska koča on Ledinah via Slovenska pot – fixed protection in good condition, rock dry. On the way to the hut still some snow, melting and no problem. After a short break we continue to Jezersko sedlo and on to Ledinski vrh. On the way still quite a lot of snow, also soft here, so no need for ice axe and crampons. We meet two ski tourers who climb high under Rinke and scream on the descent which ends about 15 minutes before the hut on Ledinah. On the way variable weather - sunny and hoooot for a long time, so we were finally grateful for some clouds and a bit of wind on the summit. Although on foot, on the way back we enjoyed "skiing", as it went great on the snowfields with wind-packed snow even in boots nasmeh. From the hut we descended via the hunter's path and thus circled the tour.

Today I was on Ledinski vrh. Despite unannounced bad weather (light rain all the time + fog and wind on top). Today obviously not a day for climbing in KSA, so those who turned back in Logar Valley missed nothing (Nice greetings to all).

Panoramik: Congrats on the ascent. Last night's forecast really predicted the opposite of what could be seen in the morning in Logarska dolina.lp J
P.S. Lots of enjoyment on Triglav!

Yes, Panoramik, true. Weather was total crap. I went down Kopinškova to Ojstrica, then over Mala Ojstrica to Kocbekov dom, then over Škarje back to Logarska. If we look positively at this bad weather - no crowds on the path!nasmehnasmehnasmeh

Before leaving for Genoa (Sri Krishna puja), I go check out nice Jezersko.
Weather there, due to north position, stayed clear all day, only over Julijce the south wind was chasing clouds. I head via Slovenska to Vadine and nearby Ledinski vrh. Some snow left at the end and edge of the Skutina glacier, and also a bit in the cirque just below Jezersko sedlo. Above 2000m a bit windy, path still hot for me. Some hiker was going towards Rinke quite lightly dressed and she was right. At Kranjska koča I meet a friendly young violinist-teacher from Ljubljana, alpin school student. In two days she did a nice circuit of the range, from Cojzova koča to Okrešelj via Turski žleb and over Rinke to Jezersko. She also knows some yoga and at the hut we chat and sort essence from non-essence, gurus from anti-gurus. After my beer and her abundant, probably full lunch, on descent we take the Jager variant to the valley. Also this weekend Jezersko folks had lots of visitors at high huts, on Monday the warden enjoyed sitting on the bench by larches in mountain peace.nasmeh

Has anyone been around Savinjsko sedlo and Ledinski vrh in the last days?
What are the conditions up there?

Given the temps, wading through snow cover shouldn't be a problem, or?
How about snowpack stability?

Thanks for replies and nice day...

On Friday 14th January I was on Ledinski vrh. Path from Rinka waterfall to Savinja spring is dry, but here and there under leaves a patch of ice! From Savinja spring onwards snow starts. Little snow and very wet (gaiters mandatory). Path to the threshold quite strenuous due to postholing all the way nasmeh
From threshold on different story. Snow over threshold frozen, so without crampons had to kick hard into snow, but short section. Across Mrzli dol hiking again bit tough due to postholing to knees. Last ascent to Savinjsko sedlo frozen again. Towards Jezersko sedlo also slightly frozen, then from sedlo to summit slip risk due to lack of snow and high temps. Summit windless and great views nasmeh
Pics follow in a day or so, since I didn't take them nasmeh

Best, Jure

Some of my impressions from yesterday's ascent from Logarska Valley to Ledinski vrh.
There are no special features on the path, only when exiting Mrzli dol to Jezersko sedlo some caution is needed due to deep holes under the snow.
At the same time I ask experts to help resolve the "black hole" in my knowledge. Does anyone perhaps know the name of the rock pyramid in the 7th photo? It lies to the right of LV and an iron cross stands on its subpeak. Thanks in advance for the explanation.nasmeh

Austrians have built a via ferrata to it from Belska Kočna, but I don't know if it's accessible from our side for "non-alpinists". Apparently the only two-thousander in KSA that is purely Austrian.zmeden

From our side, from Jezersko sedlo, accessible with easy short climbing around grade 2.

Thanks. About the hut unfortunately I don't know. At the turning point there was a "CLOSED" sign, so I didn't check. And I think on the return nothing was smoking from the chimney either, so...zavijanje z očmimežikanjenasmehnasmeh
