Levstik's Hike from Litija to Čatež

Since the path is circular, it starts and ends at the same place and no transport is needed. It costs only the ride from home to the village Ustje pri Ajdovščini.
It is good that we have bora these days here; it has dried the paths and there will be no mud.
They say the bora will stop today and it will cloud over on Sunday. It should start raining only in the evening; by then we will already be at the goal!

All those who bitch about the entry fee. For the entry fee you got a new book, a t-shirt, for anniversary hikes awards and badges. Who do you think pays for all that? Don't look only at the number of participants, because most of you are blabbermouths who have no idea about the organization and costs of such a big event. By the way, around 4,000 hikers register, who pay the organization, security and execution costs also for you whiners who obviously come to Dolenjska just to booze.
So much about rip-off and profiteering!
Luckily, among participants there are mostly wonderful and friendly people besides you.

Oh, if you don't believe my post, ask numerous hikers from Mountaineering Society Mislinja, Planika Maribor, Ljubljana Matica, Kranj, Novo mesto, Koper.......................
Otherwise most really wonderful people come and among them there are always many young people! Very nice!

And one more thing. Just marking the 345 km path with over 300 personal signs cost over 30,000 €! So read everything on www.levstik.si before some write nonsense. Of course you are invited this year on 9 November 2013, when it will be nice again among Dolenjska hills and zidanicami. Dolenjci will welcome you nicely! Also those who calmly spend dozens of euros on drinks in a few hours, but 6 € for the hiking development of these places is too much for you, although you get much more for that money!

Good thing the weather will be bad this year too. Entry fee 6 eur + bus 4 eur. It was already too expensive years ago. This year's novelty is also that those who don't pay entry can't take the bus and should walk back to Litija. That's the limit - just money. Whoever's most keen on such high entry fee can only be the organizer, the above commenter. Previous years the charm was collecting stamps, now only at start and end. We'll stay dry this year too, save 50 euros (5 people). About gifts: t-shirts too big, books full of ads, sponsors. Don't they get money from them? Wire Path Hike well marked, they provide medical aid etc., no entry fee! Get medal at end. Shame for such nice hike, hope above commenter said it last year!

When that organizer got involved in this hike, everything went only downhill.
The hike soon lost its warmth, charm, historical background... only commercialized offer of boozing and milking money remained. After arriving at goal - fuck the hikers from here on, as you know and can. 'Cause from you till next time nothing more.

I've never been, but I really don't understand what the big problem is with 6+4€. It already seems low to me, then I think about other sports events or some famous parking lot...
The Wire Path is organized by the largest municipality, which can cover a lot even without other sponsors, so it's a bad example. The criticism could be that the organizer doesn't try hard enough in that direction, but in this non-constructive way you surely won't achieve anything (same for stamps).
And, do they arrest you if you hike unregistered?

It's not about being registered. But that the half-hour ride from Čatež back to Litija until last year (almost 30 years) was about 3 or 4 € per person, now suddenly 10 € all together. Before you could buy the ticket and entry separately, now you must take all of it, even if you maybe want only one or the other. If you want both, it's really not expensive. But if you only want the return transport, it seems silly to pay extra for everything you don't need or want.
Let's leave the Wire Path. WHAT has improved/changed this year or last year on the Levstik path compared to previous years to justify the price, those conditions???

In the time when folks queue for the bus, they could all already be at the Šentlovrenc train station by then, which is not far from Čatež at all. The train arrives at Šentlovrenc at 16:30, leaves at 16:31, arrives in Lj at 17:36.

Can't this path be done outside this date? If yes (probably ), why the fuss?
In life I've been only twice on a mass hike, the third time they didn't convince me, though I was still a teen.
But I think the organizer definitely sets the rules and price. It depends on satisfied participants how massive it will be in the future. As we can see, mass hikes and runs are very popular - prices not too high yet!

Levstik's hike from Litija to Čatež is postponed to Saturday 15.11.2014 due to bad weather; no, well, yeah, we can read some more comments about the price until next Saturday. Lp.

@klavdy6 - yeah I'm not from LJ either, but the year before last I nicely took the train from Šentlovrenc to LJ and then further. And you can't say there are no connections to Litija, even otherwise train connections to Litija are good, on hike day there are also several special trains with special stops.
Well super that they postponed it, you can't believe it.

Oh, you gladdened me with the news that the hike is postponed after St. Martin's. Tomorrow it would really be annoying to walk on a soaked path and the rain probably won't stop until Saturday evening.
€10 can be little or a lot, depending on the individual. Every month I spend, probably others too, more than €10 for which I couldn't explain where I left them. Coffee, snack, unnecessary trinkets ..... etc.
So, we pay the registration fee and transport and surrender to the pleasures of hiking. How each relives the path and the end and what they see on the path and at Čatež depends on the individual. For us, the beauty of autumn nature and at the finish a good feeling that we could walk the path. Many among us can't or can't manage it for various reasons. Have a nice time wherever you are.
