Last day before the weather worsening... the approaching front was already felt. Descent from the saddle to Via Italiano, up the Slovenian, down the Italian. Already at the start with... an unplanned addition...zadrega

I believe... I know that some (in other cases) ended up in the completely wrong valley... but... it's not really inspiring when you realize you'll gain extra elevation for nothing zadrega

Ski season has started and Mangart never disappoints. Below the Visoka Špica wall somewhat bare then snow. First third southern, second third ice, last third horror, sharp crust with loose snow below. Skiing wasn't bad at all given the conditions, but currently unsuitable from the top. Nice end of the day watching the sunset and the moon sliver.

Sunny Saturday and white snow dictated a ski descent from the top.
First warming up with a bike then on foot with gear to the top. To the top via the chimney directly under the overhang, which is particularly huge this year. Snow galore and for ski descent just right softened. During descent from the top several avalanches trigger, which I ski over. With one single ski release I reach the last tunnel then by bike back to Mlinča.

According to the description this is a trip tempting fate. For a fast ride with Mangart express to the valley. But anyway. Good luck in the future with such a descent! nasmeh For us who face the consequences of such adrenaline feats, this is not recommended.

So let's repeat. At the last tunnel there's always snow, so on foot past the old hut to the saddle and towards the top. This time I choose the left slope next to the direct route-chimney. For a few years it hasn't been so nicely filled and also skiable over the jump. Several centimeters of new snow that softens the old one and nicely tunnels through all the way to the top. I ski down only the second half in the approach direction.

Season finale. Road closed, barriers down, only on foot or bike from valley. Road being cleared and renovated diligently so official opening soon.
Nice morning with pleasant sirocco, sun heating mercilessly so real summer ahead. Route via Italian path to traverse, then right direct to summit, lots of snow and conditions ok. Skiing planned right below summit but weather turned in minutes, carry skis lower for better visibility. Great descent with double ski removal as snow not enough anymore.

Today according to data from promet.si road should be open. But this warning added:

RT-902, Strmec - Mangart, short full closures (up to 15 min), filming, until 20:00.
