A nice day on the pasture attracted quite a few visitors. Too bad the mountain hut at Biba is closed. Off-season it could be open on weekends, since from the valley to Biba it's not that far that one couldn't at least heat the stove, if not brew some tea. There are always lots of visitors in nice weather.

You just need to go a bit further to the hut on Menina planina, which has at least so far always been open on weekends. In winter those who came on foot up there even got free tea!

This afternoon we were at Menina pasture. This pasture is very beautiful, but this plateau is also very threatened, as we noticed that there are quite a few pallets of artificial fertilizer stored in the hut at Biba. Probably this fertilizer will be used on the pasture and in a few years the water there will also be polluted like on the Drava field.

Our family also joined the above-mentioned visitors to Menina pasture and Vivodnik. The path is wonderful, like walking on soft carpets. Highly recommended, easy trip for families with small children. Best regards, Andrej

Near the hut there is the underground cave Jespa (cca. 30 minutes from the hut). Some caution is needed when descending into the cave, otherwise access to it is not demanding for an experienced hiker. Whenever I visited it, there was ice in it.

Yesterday I used the day to visit Biba on Menina, it was really nice warm weather in contrast to the valleys.

Yesterday a nice morning tour from Tuhinj Valley over Črešnjice and Biba pasture (from there on foot), from there also start of snow (new was cca 10 cm), most sank in. Weather wonderful, warm, views a bit worse, already cloudy. Of course followed visit to Vivodnik and lookout tower and then partly circular path back to start. Excellent trip organized by JJ. Thank you. What trips we offer ourselves.

Visit to Menina pasture from Vransko, saddle Lipa and along the lower path under Smolnik and Medvedji hrib. Weather ok, sometimes cold wind blowing and surprisingly quite a few people on the path. Snow, except towards the top of Menina where there are individual patches, almost none left. Back along the upper side of Medvedji hrib, which leads to saddle Lipa.

Yesterday over the barbecue a suggestion is made - let's go to the mountains tomorrow!!
No need to tell me twice and in 5 min. the team is organized (I choose Menina)
In the morning, pain in the back of the head warns me - too much yesterday...
The higher we climb, the more the rustling in the treetops warns us of the wind. Above 1000m the beeches are just preparing to dress in green attire.
When we come out of the forest a strong wind greets us. It's cold. Karst sinkholes and shady areas still have snow. Where it's bare it's full of spring snowflakes and wood anemones. We don't descend to Jespa, it's still full of snow. From the lookout tower (Vivodnik) a beautiful view of K.S. Alps opens.
We go to the hut, have a snack - the wind doesn't stop and already brings dark clouds. Fresh air and a bit of effort chase away the annoying throbbing in my head.
Quickly we descend to the car and home for lunch. At home raindrops already await us - we're used to it..

Visit to Menina Pasture today, despite poor weather forecast, is completely fairy-tale. Path from Gornji grad past Jespa uphill is pleasant, back past Ovčji stan likewise, in between a jump to the tower on Vivodnik to take some good photos. Very very nice trip. Visit it!

I think it's not a snake, but a slowworm, which belongs to lizards.
Definitely not a viper.

Common slowworm doesn't belong among snakes, it's a viviparous lizard, although not the most similar to them!

Today at Menina Pasture. Path from "pass" Lipa (above Vransko) is ok, here and there one would need to remove some fallen tree and renew markers . Valley had morning fog, up there the sun was already shining, it was warm and the view of the snow-covered Kamnik Alps was wonderful. Hut open, food super, staff too. Worth checking. It was a nice sunny day!
