Today went to Menina planina from Gornji Grad hoping nice extended trip to Biba planina and Šavnica too. Already uphill windy cloudy, near hut fog started. With strong wind sad visit, also to Vivodnik path managed to stray off as saw nothing. Path to Menina past Semprimožnik snow-free bit muddy. Down wanted past Borovnica but due timber haul couldn't find continuation after road cross (quickly lost in woods). To avoid trouble back to road and nicely on ascent path.
Down saw 3/4 surrounding areas nice in sun. Darn.

Yes, unfortunately Menina is such that it likes to hold clouds esp when low air pressure. But next time more beauty on Menina visit!

Today from Golice to the summit. Descent past the hut and across Biba planina.
New snow about 10cm. Just right for winter idyll in these spring days.

On Saturday to Menina planina, this time starting point Gornji Grad. Up we went through Borovnica, down past Semprimožnik. The trail is snowy, lower part more slippery, higher dry snow. Trail is trodden, as it seems to me, well marked from this side. Now we've covered Menina from quite a few starting points, from Golice, from Okrog, from Črnivec...The higher we were, the nicer winter idyll and good views. Friendly in the hut, good service. We looked around the conquered peaks a bit and slowly down. Towards the end of the trail some slush, but more snowy than last year at this time. Small crampons were handy, some without but slippery...Peeked a bit around Gornji Grad and home..., 1000m ascent and 14 km.

Yesterday's late departure from home, consequently also late start in Gornji Grad to Menina. It was to be expected that we would return in the dark to the starting point. And so it was. We returned via Borovnica, which wasn't the best choice,  as the trail is very steep and we were already hiking with headlamps, a little more romance.
On the way enjoyment in the snow and beautiful nature, also in solitude, as we met only one hiker on this trail. Towards home some more, as they were already returning. Views a solid 10/10, but a fairly cold wind was blowing too.
Well, we also saw interesting tracks, bear tracks. Then we quickly hung a bell so we wouldn't meet somewhere by chance.
In the hut warm and pleasant. PD Gornji Grad modernized the hut a while ago. They even have underfloor heating. Members of the mountaineering club are on duty, so they offer something to eat, and of course to drink.

Yes, nice.
My opinion on the tower - it's slowly coming to an end if no renovation.
That's what happened at Boskovec.
The tower hasn't been there for several years.

Menina. Pasture that is really accessible to all hikers or cyclists.
This time, on Saturday, we chose a path we hadn't walked before. Start at Črnivec pass, direction hut at Menina. Late start from the car again, but returned at 19:00. Didn't need headlamps.
Path well marked, solitary ... met three shepherds and two hikers on the entire path and return. Maybe some markers hidden behind tree branches, so missed twice,...
Path leads through two pastures; Ravni pasture, where cows were driven, Travnik pasture, which looks more neglected, abandoned. On this pasture some larger and smaller donkeys are grazing. They were very curious, watched us well, since the bell on our backpack nicely announced our steps. Thus we scared away larger number of wild boars that uprooted large areas on Menina.
On Ravni pasture, where we took a slightly longer break, shepherd is fixing shepherd hut, possible to sleep there too, as it has sanitary facilities, shower, common beds, nicely arranged kitchen with dining, in short interesting.
Path long, but for the soul.

Very interesting and nicely described mountain tour. Really a tour for mental relaxation and enjoyment.
